I hope the beautiful theme song for the movie 《花漾少女杀人事件》is a decent consolation of sorts:…
Thank you. Since I happen to be online now and about to head off, here is a link to the movie "Girl On Edge" (with decent English subtitles, if anyone needs it):
Ps. Distribution license for 《秋雪漫过的冬天》obtained but not yet mentioned a release date, whereby she stars with Mark Chao in the C-Drama remake of the K-Drama hit "My Mister".
Thanks for your review! I've watched 10 episodes, and my sides are aching from laughing so much, especially with their line delivery in mandarin. And yet, the leads create some of the best heart-aching chemistry through it all.
I really like his music by the way someone told me yanan is under gjm company ZUI but I didn't find any information…
It's been mentioned multiple times on Weibo as of 5/11/2025 to be an S+ Youku drama, whereby the main screenwriter is Zhou Mo (Story of Yanxi Palace) and the leads are these two. Fingers crossed!
I personally would recommend to watch LiP but you don't have to if you don't want to. I personally really loved…
Watching LIP beforehand makes episode 31 hit much harder, especially when Fugui finally understands why Wangquan Hongye took so long to open up and stubbornly insisted on Fugui being simple. I needed a towel for 31, because remembering LIP for the mask team and then how Huaizhu spoke to Wangquan Hongye in the bamboo grove about their not-yet-born son...
*Sides hurting from laughter due to episodes 1 until 9* Caesar Wu is slaying this role, Riley Wang is the perfect foil and rival, while Xu Lu's timing and mannerisms as the FL being central to this breaching-fourth-wall hilarity is spot-on. Anyone who has watched many wuxia and xianxia C-dramas after the year 2000 needs to watch this!
Also, the chemistry in the serious moments is heart-achingly sweet. A seemingly straightforward plot with intentional plot-holes, this far in. Caesar and Riley are having me in stitches with their rivalry, especially in episodes 8 and 9. Xu Lu has to be confident yet childish but endearingly frank at times, and she nails this during the first eight episodes before becoming more realistic.
Thankfully there isn't an excess of filters, plus the makeup is done well and not air-brushed perfect. I believe that's why I can appreciate Xu Lu's micro-expressions and her looking very natural. She's a pretty and talented actress, with the right amount of slight exaggerations when parodying certain tropes such as having a misunderstanding with one of the leads. That's also why Caesar Wu's micro-expressions are obvious. He's handsome enough without excessive filters and makeup. They are clearly enjoying themselves in their roles, ranging from droll to serious. What a blast!

Heh. Internet forum shortform meets Hollywood terms.
I'm curious if you think the presence of the Hays Code was vital to Hollywood's Golden Age of movies, plus what was the impact of the MPAA replacing it. That said, it's not for this review.
Perhaps consider watching Silent Honour and Our Homeland. Both series are available in full on the IQiyi Youtube channel.
This was a very validating read for me, thank you 😄Lots of people gave me 💩 for my criticisms in the forums…
Somebody asked me if I was going to watch this drama. After looking at the screenwriters, my first reply was that the script will have significant issues. That said, script issues have never stopped a drama from being commercially profitable provided checkboxes are ticked eg ML is green flag role and the actor has a large-enough fanbase, the plot must be kept sufficiently simple to focus on the leads and have viewers obsess primarily about the leads, enough eye candy in the ensemble cast, and make sure most of the CGI and sfx is decent. I eventually watched some of it. Drama-Ming Yi is a woman I cannot recommend any female to emulate, especially not my niece.
There's seriously been so many rumor ML, I wish they confirm the cast already.
As of yesterday, this account claims the shooting cycle for this drama is 120 days, production commences mid-December 2025 in Hengdian, and the mains are Tian Xiwei and Yan An: https://m.weibo.cn/detail/5229614021741377
Spoilery synopsis: In the early 1990s, battlefield hero Feng He returned home to Qingping Town. A cultural relic…
Wang Xingyue won Best Young Actor for "The Double" at the 10th Wenrong Awards. Considering how many actors are in the field, I would like to see him build on it. I look forward to writing a review for this drama, just as I recently wrote one for "The Guardians", a Republican-era espionage thriller set against the historical backdrop of the Sino-Japanese war, World War II, KMT versus CCP, and Shanghai:
I think its going to take sometimes for that to happen. They wont kill him off that fast🤣
Screenwriters for Fated Hearts did well in terms of novel adaptation, and there were five of them. To do so, everyone has to grasp the novel material well, any major changes still renders certain characters of the original novel recognisable, and everyone is crystal-clear about the characterisations and subplots of leads and important secondary roles tying into the main key plot, plus how all that needs to be portrayed (which is where the Directors also come in because they also need to be on-board with all this).
I'm waiting to see how the next eight episodes of WoF unfolds. One of the screenwriters here also did the necessary for Blood River.
I think its going to take sometimes for that to happen. They wont kill him off that fast🤣
The screenwriters were somewhat over-indulgent in the first 20 episodes which is why I said there is a pacing issue. They'll need to be very disciplined to get everything in within 20 episodes and do so in a manner that doesn't have people trying to figure out how point J connecting to point K connects to Point N which has nothing to do with Point R (something along these lines).
I think its going to take sometimes for that to happen. They wont kill him off that fast🤣
People will decide whether they like the drama or not, and what they like or dislike about it. Most importantly, individual opinions don't have to hinge on reading the novel first to be more or less valid.
Regardless of any arcs present or not, regardless of whether romance is present or not, sufficient character development and adequate presentation of a certain number of secondary supporting characters is also key to increasing the watchability of a drama. A drama needs to be able to stand alone on its merits, without depending on the novel or readers of the novel explaining to non-novel readers to improve understandability or likeability of a drama.
There are four screenwriters. I am concerned about the pacing of the story, given what hasn't been introduced. Seeing how the next 6 to 8 episodes unfold will give a very good indication of the direction being taken for all involved. Why Tang Lici was adopted and therefore indirectly connected to the Imperial family in the drama has not been explained, including whether this happened before or after he took Fang Zhou's heart crystal (most likely after it happened).
Also, I don't know why the MDL page is now labelling the cast wrongly. Tang Lici is the main role. Others are all supporting roles.
I think its going to take sometimes for that to happen. They wont kill him off that fast🤣
In the novel, Liu Yan is a big part of it. That said, novel-Liu Yan is far more variable and interesting than drama-Liu Yan which can understandably bore people because at this point, the editing to showcase drama-Liu Yan hinges on two particular extremes with small deft touches to show he still has some humanity and sanity left. Fang Yilun is doing a very-good job with the limitations of his written role, but I can see how some people would definitely tire of drama-Liu Yan. At this point, screenwriting decisions for characterisation are showing some flaws for at least two characters, and it's not just limited to Liu Yan.
At one point of the second half of the novel, Tang Lici grabs and hurls A-Shui at a certain moment to take the impact of what could have seriously injured Liu Yan. Liu Yan is very important to Tang Lici, moreso than A-Shui. Tang Lici does more than one thing to A-Shui which is unacceptable and his treatment of poor A-Shui in the novel was not decent for me, and it is understandable that in the novel he never finds A-Shui again after she leaves. Whether A-Shui still loves Tang Lici or whether Tang Lici loved A-Shui in the novel is debatable. A-Shui did leave an impact on Tang Lici unlike other females, in the novel.
I doubt that incident in any form (Tang Lici sacrificing A-Shui to save Liu Yan) will make it into the drama. But at the least, Liu Yan's dearness to Tang Lici being favoured over A-Shui is preserved during these episodes. This is why when A-Shui gives blood to save Tang Lici via the lips, Tang Lici has no reaction of even reciprocating when he regains consciousness.
Hi.1. What is an 'F-Lister'?2. I just completed WAR OF FAITH and I preferred it to this. Sort of similar genre.…
F-Lister is short for "Someone from my friendlist" ie I am friends with.
Thank you for the recommendation.
For my review of The Guardians, I included the historical backdrop of the Sino-Japanese war, World War II, KMT versus CCP, and Shanghai. When many viewers don't understand history and/or the backdrop, everything that involves leads choosing the CCP for any reasons becomes classified as propaganda.
It almost feels like this series was setup to promote Cha Hua Sen by using Cheng Yi. There are so many ends to…
This series is now looking as if it decided to promote Hong Yi plus Chang Hua Sen, and Cheng Yi didn't see the script beyond 10 episodes before he signed on. How else to explain the continued idiocy of episodes 28 and 29?
I'll wait until all episodes drop. Not willing to watch until then. Used the fast forward button too much ever since this ridiculous arc of never-ending separation.
My favorite actor is really picking a very downgraded role lately.i thought "journey of legend" was bad…
The botching of this script by the writers after episode 13 is even worse than TJOL, and that says a lot.
I believe Cheng Yi didn't see the entire script for both dramas before signing on. If he saw the entire script for this drama, I'm certain he would not sign onto this drama. It's commonplace to get to see the script for the equivalent of the first ten episodes.
Bai Jingting is known for insisting on seeing an entire script, before he decides whether to sign onto a project. The only exception was for Mobius, because he decided to trust the director based on their previous drama together.
Dramas like this one with a rating of 7.9 are the reason why this website has absolutely no credibility. One of…
This drama is incredibly touching and well-written. 2025 has several gems, but it depends on whether we find them. If you enjoy acting from the likes of Luo Jin, then Zhang Yishan and Elvis Han Dong Jun in the "The Guardians" might sweep you away while you are standing on your feet. Strong narrative and great pacing.
