I'm so excited for this scene since seeing the OST MV.I'm thinking it'll be when they return to the heavenly realm…
Exactly!!! Even in real life, people who prioritize their love above everything so that they throw away everything and everybody else, is looked down upon. I hate it when a drama have ML/FL (usually ML) throwing everything in order to have their romance passion fulfilled, leaving a carnage of disaster in the wake (especially for xianxia genre). It would be nice to have a healthy and balanced relationship.
Yu Mo and Yan Dan really do keep on missing each other. I think that fully describes the dynamic of his relationship…
Great writing! I am agree. In the heavenly realm, Yan Dan in a way built up relationship with Ying Yuan first so people might say that Yu Mo just too late. But in mortal realm, Yan Dan will build relationship with Yu Mo first. And still, she will drawn again to Ying Yuan reincarnation.
Sometimes, love can only be explained as fate. I do believe, from the very first interaction in the heavenly realm, there was already spark between Yan Dan and Ying Yuan, however negative it was, hahahaha.
In AOL, the one character with depth is only RunYu. XF is supposedly the ML in the book but in the drama he became…
As far as I remember, even in the book Xu Feng character is somewhat one dimensional. The drama actually is better since at least they have good brotherly relationship in the beginning.
A gentle reminder :) Do mark your post as spoiler, especially long posts. Thank you~
Yeah, I do wonder, too, hahahaha. Because for some people, even a little hint is already taken as spoiler. I had bad experience with those kind of people in the past. It was as if they didn't want to take responsibility for themselves, but asking others to give what they needed. It is truly impossible to not get a little spoiler in a forum discussion. It is called discussion for some reason.
Anyway, thank you for your kind advice. Good day to you! Let's welcoming Thang Zhou today!
Someone below explained thr leads characters perfectly YD is still young and immature....her way is more simple…
Above my post, there is a user (I think Ennea?!) that already did a good analysis on Yan Dan character. I agree with her. But agree and liking are different thing.
My principal in love is that of sacrificing love. When you love, you should give without expecting anything in return, even recognition. People does not need to know what you have done for them. That is why Ying Yuan way of love echoing more with me. Of course, he currently is too stiff in upholding the law and in need of some character development. But, his way of loving is not totally wrong either.
I think some people expect too much from him. How does he know that Yan Dan wants his recognition of her sacrifice when she just following her sister lie like that? He is only respecting Yan Dan wish by not blowing up Zhi Xi lie directly. Man is not programmed to know that you want B when you say A. It is always that way from ancient time until now in human history.
What Yan Dan has done on the bridge of emptiness in my opinion is selfishness to the max. I know her situation, thus completely understand that it is probably beyond her control. She is emotionally distraught and so stretched that she can no longer think clearly. But, it does not make her conduct is right. Yan Dan literally forces Ying Yuan to admit his feeling with audience. Does she want to bring Ying Yuan to death together with her? It is like she does not care about Ying Yuan well being at all and only wish some closure for herself. I will say it again. Her conduct is understandable, seeing the situation at that time, but does not make it right.
And it is the very reason, why the current her just cannot be together with Ying Yuan, no matter how much they love each other.
I am sorry for the long post. The romance relationship in this drama is very interesting indeed.
Random comment: In LAR, CY made me think that bangs suited him more, but here TZ and YY's forehead OMG. The conclusion…
Cheng Yi style in this drama simply superb. That white-haired Ying Yuan, my eyes truly glued to my screen. SO BEAUTIFUL!! I also love Tang Zhou style, especially those with bangs. I think he looks very boyish and innocent there. You will not notice that he is already in his thirties.
From what I see.. YY is going to suffer more than YD.
I agree with this, based on all the trailer and leak that have come out until now. Right now, it seems the FL is the one who suffers the most. But, in the end, it is the one who endures and keeping all to himself that suffers the most.
A gentle reminder :) Do mark your post as spoiler, especially long posts. Thank you~
I see your point of view. Thank you for your elaboration. Still, if it is as you say, then in a way 90% post here made during drama airing should have been under spoiler. I will try better for my future writing. But, for this one above, I will leave it as it is for now until I find other person who is disturbed by it. I am sorry for my stubbornness regarding this.
Honestly, ever since I decide to be active in this kind of forum, I am always annoyed by those who always complained of being spoiled. So, I kind of .... trying to probe the boundary in a way. Please do let me probing things out using this post of mine. I do not wish to be an inconsiderate user with spewing spoiler left and right nor I wish to be an overly caution user by using spoiler tag all the time. Because as I see it, if someone cannot handle a "little leak" as you say it in an essay post about character analysis, then they should not come to the forum discussion at all.
IMO I think like YD YY did not understand each other even if they are in love due to lack of communication. YY…
Ying Yuan somewhat already explained to her why their love cannot come into being on the bridge of emptiness. But, if you have watched until episode 17 at least, you would have known what Yan Dan answer to him. At this point of time, both are at fault of their failed romance. Yan Dan is just too young. Her way of thinking is too small still to be able to consider the whole world. Yan Dan really give a limited option to Ying Yuan since she truly cannot answer of her whereabout. She thought that she can do anything and Ying Yuan will clean up her mess. It has been that way, ever since the beginning.
On the other hand, Ying Yuan is too logical in his approach. Even though looking from his background, it is understandable. He lives in such abstinence for millenniums. He is not used to show his love in open way and he is far far more used to endure silently than Yan Dan. So, he feels this kind of sacrifice and silent love is good enough while it is not for Yan Dan.
A gentle reminder :) Do mark your post as spoiler, especially long posts. Thank you~
Hmm, I understand your concern. But, I humbly ask, do my post really contained spoiler? I tried my best to only share the thought without spoiling the real event happened in the drama. I am asking so that I know what people think when they read this kind of essay of post so I can revise my writing in the future. Because I hope that new viewer that come to this page to check whether this drama is worth or not, can see the analysis from us that already watch it; so they can see what this drama about. If all heavy discussion should be under spoiler, then people who are so paranoid of spoiler will never read it and might end up thinking this is a shallow drama.
Someone below explained thr leads characters perfectly YD is still young and immature....her way is more simple…
Yes! I agree that the problem is rooted in their gap of thinking. Ying Yuan is seeing romance from mature point of view. He does not think that even though they love each other, they must act on it in straightforward manner. While Yan Dan in her youth, cannot see things clearly yet. All she knows is that she loves this man and she demands they act on it on her terms.
I know she is so loving to everybody and such selfless person, but if we see from another POV, she is selfish somewhat. She loves in a way best according to her, and never thought that her way may not be the best for the other party involved. We can see that from her way helping Zhi Xi. And now we see it again in her dealing with Ying Yuan.
It will be very interesting to see her development later on in the drama. Based on the trailer, I suspect she will later on choose to abandon her personal happiness living with Tang Zhou in mortal realm so he can return to heavenly realm for the sake of all realms. I think it is only when Yan Dan learn to sacrifice not to have her love for the sake of others, that she will get the very love she craves. In the drama premise, it is impossible for Yan Dan to force her way with Ying Yuan. You shall not guilt trip him with gratitude or you will only end up with his shell, not his whole person. To get someone like Ying Yuan, you truly need to do extra mile, hahahaha.
Finally finish watching up to episode 18. Some good acting from Cheng Yi here. He doesn't need to say anything and my heart already hurt ..... Ying Yuan character is very much into my liking. A love that does not throw away responsibility. Too many drama out there where the ML throwing everything including his responsibility for FL, end up disappointing everyone and bring a disaster upon innocent people. With great power come great responsibility. This sentence from Spiderman rings true even in real life. If Ying Yuan ever chooses Yan Dan over his responsibility, he will end up bitter and live in guilt for his entire life. Their love is doomed to fail with the current Yan Dan character.
Yang Zi is okay. However, I am not yet moved by her Yan Dan. Perhaps, part of it is caused by my dislike of this kind of young love. I can understand where Yan Dan coming from. But, even she should have known that her love would bring them nowhere. She cannot possibly ask Ying Yuan to throw everything including three realms, usurp the heavenly throne just to be with her?! I think she is more heartbroken because Ying Yuan refuses to make their dream into reality. All she want is that Ying Yuan to recognize their love to each other, consequences be damned. Her words toward Ying Yuan on the Bridge of Emptiness truly put me off.
I hope Yan Dan will mature up during her time in mortal realm. I wish her to realize that the man she loves is not a nobody; someone that whose action will not affecting myriad living being. If she is indeed loving Ying Yuan, then she will need to accept his burden and responsibility too since those are parts of him. Moreover, I hope she can live for herself instead for her sister in the future. Zhi Xi disgust me with her inferiority complex and victim mentality.
Also, I agree that the editing of episode 18 is bad. They should not cut the river of forgetfulness scene and switch to scene with dragon clan. Anyway, I love the dragon princess, Zhao Lan. Finally a female character that is not so hung up on her unrequited love.
not enough ZiMi i guess. Its funny cuz this is the first time I saw something so peaceful. No cp fans in sight…
Hahahahahah!! I read your comment in Cheng Yi actor page in MDL. I can see you hate her so much. Judging by your comments, I take that you are quite active in Chinese social media like weibo, douyin, and the like?! It seems that the way Chinese people and international fans treat their celebrity are different. I see multiple times that actor/actress that kind of being blacklisted in China still get lots of support internationally.
not enough ZiMi i guess. Its funny cuz this is the first time I saw something so peaceful. No cp fans in sight…
To be fair, it was not her fault to be invited to that fan meet in the end. But, I disliked how then she acted as a victim during the meet. Also, the CP fans back then were truly unreasonable. They literally thought it was Cheng Yi responsibility to pacify Yuan Bing Yuan sadness. Like .... hello, he is not Yu Si Feng and Yuan Bing Yuan is not Chu Xuan Ji.
I hope there will be no CP fans ever created upon this drama. I have enough of it. Not to mention LAR, those BL drama like The Untamed and Word of Honor, all suffered through CP fans craziness. I really cannot understand why people love to bring their ship to real life.
Hi there, first of all I apologise for that long post… I deleted it now wahaha… I’m so embarrassed… Its…
Eh? Which long post? Please do not delete it next time. Long post containing watcher think is precious. I would love to read all of user's long post here.
I’m losing interest in this drama. Currently on ep 13. Yandan should have called her sister out on her lies.…
I can understand your thought. I, too, somehow annoyed watching the constant mopping. Like if you decide to support your sister lie, then accept your decision and its consequences. But, I also understand Yan Dan personality. She is torn between her love toward her sister and her wish of being together with Ying Yuan. This creates such a frustration deep inside her which expressed as her "throwing tantrum" to Ying Yuan and keep on mopping.
I hope to see her grow up in this drama so she can be more decisive and able to see things from bigger picture.
So many people keep comparing this to AOL and LAR, seen a few episodes of AOL and it has been on my to finish…
These days, majority of dramas are novel adaptation. And those novel are somewhat similar with each other in certain part so ......
Still, I love this drama. I don't care of its trope similarity with others since watching two actor/actress with great acting skill as lead is so so enjoyable. I will take this to wash all my disappointment during my xianxia watching all these years. If possible, I want these two to repeat all those great xianxia dramas that annoyed me because of bad acting from one or both lead. Not to mention these two have looks that very suitable for xianxia.
