In my opinion Hao Chen just didn't know how to love someone with sincerity. He thought that with what he has done to Xuan Ji all this time, it was already enough to have her heart. And so he would have her become somewhat his person (or lackey for the harsh word). I often heard him saying that Xuan Ji no longer listened to him as if he expected Xuan Ji to obey him all the time. Seems he thought: "I cared for you, taught you cultivation, living together for 4 years, therefore you must dedicated yourself to me."

Sadly, he was too late in the game. Si Feng enter XuanJi live first and captured her attention. Moreover, the aura of someone gives sincere caring like Si Feng and the aura of someone giving caring with agenda behind like Hao Chen are different. Even though Xuan Ji lacked sense at that time and could not put into words what she actually felt, her subconscious somewhat understood. Thus, she latched herself to Si Feng just because unknowingly he was the one her heart attracted to.

Regarding those "righteous sects", as I have written here before, they were just a bunch of hypocrite with no integrity.

Hao Chen has this kind of thinking that just because he has done everything for Xuan Ji, he expected that Xuan Ji putting him above everything and obey him all the time. Problem is his care was not purely based on love, but have lots of hidden agenda behind. In short, not sincere enough. No wonder God of War or Xuan Ji heart was never moved by him.

I was just re-watching episode 44. Hao Chen got K.O by Si Feng and then Xuan Ji acted so worried for her senior brother. Even want to wait outside of the room until Hao Chen willing to see her ...

I am re-watching episode 44. Bad mistake. I am now got angry all over again. Every time Xuan Ji cared for Hao Chen, I am like "Aaaaaargg!!!"

Could someone give me a summary of Hao Chen and Si Feng conversation early episode 44? The one that Si Feng surprised that Hao Chen can used that blue flame thingy?!

I will force myself to listen to their crap later on with subtitle. Right now I can only understand the gist of the conversation with my limited chinese. It is not worth to get angry twice for the same scene, hahaha.

I thought he was giving up the "Head Disciple" position but then retrieved again after he came out?! Whatever his mistake was, him being 12 feathered pretty much secured his position in the sect, shouldn't it?! In the novel, Yuan Lang had to chase Si Feng out so that he can become the sect leader.

I skipped most of his scenes (except there was Si Feng in that scene, too) when I marathoned episode 36-44. Hearing him preaching made me so angry with his narrow minded view. And now Xuan Ji father and Ling Long also joined this bandwagon.

Correct she is stubborn. Earlier episodes showed this strongly, how she persistently tried protecting Si Feng. However, as I have seen it, this trait of her seems to be fizzled out little by little after she found out that Si Feng was a demon. She being in shock, I understand. It is natural. But, they were a couple already before the revelation. I expect she should more or less understand what kind of person Si Feng was. Instead of asking whether their love was real or not, I wish she asked why Si Feng has done all of that (well, she has done this when they met under the tree so okay ..).

My annoyance with her actually started when the "good sects" came to Li Ze Palace. Before this scene, I was okay with her since I could see that she truly loved Si Feng and tried her best to find explanation when her world crumbled (even though I still hoped that she didn't need Zi Hu to remind her and looked for Si Feng on her initiative). In the scene in Li Ze Palace, she saw with her own eyes how deceitful her esteemed senior brother was. But then she was still pandering to her sect. This is why I am sorely waiting for the moment of truth. I want to know how she handles her family and what she would do to woo Si Feng back since at that time he "no longer" want to do anything with her.

Also, we might need to remember that in this life Si Feng is not human. In the novel, it was once stated that Si Feng and also his father were only want to deal with absolute in love (I think this implies for all the golden bird). For them, it was all in or nothing. And they were expecting the same from their partner. So Xuan Ji being so conditional regarding his demonic status and doubting his intention perhaps matter more to him than normal. It did not matter that Xuan Ji doubt was within normal logic. I think this might be able to explain why Si Feng un-logically still hoped Xuan Ji to believe him after all the MSX fiasco he created himself.

Yes, correct. Si Feng is the successor to the sect leader seat. I think it is one of the reason Yuan Lang hated him and never wanted to help him.

Being a 12 feathers does not guarantee that your descendant will also be 12 feathers. That's why they said it is a rare type of golden bird. The novel also never said that you must be 12 feathers to become sect leader; but if you were 12 feathers then the sect leader seat would be yours sooner or later.

Being 12 feather was the one reason Si Feng was let alive when he was a baby and why his father was the sect leader despite his mistake. Yuan Lang is only 6 feathers (if I remember correctly). That's why he told Ruo Yu to kill Si Feng because he could never become Li Ze Palace sect leader as long as Si Feng existed.

I understand your stand. I think what people mad about (including me) is the fact that Xuan Ji allowed herself to be led around by her so called father and senior brother. One of the poster here already talked about her sheltered upbringing which could help explaining why she acted like this. However, understand does not make her current act bearable for some viewers.

I actually quite surprised reading your comment. I can say that I read almost all (if not all) comment here. I don't think anyone here in particular blamed Xuan Ji after MSX fiasco. I, myself mostly only irritated when those goody sects including her family successfully sway her. She needs Zi Hu to talked some sense into her to drive her meeting with Si Feng to clarify things. If Zi Hu didn't say anything I bet she would kept mopping around and nod her head on everything her family said about demon.

Agree with you assessment regarding Si Feng character. However, even though he was doing something else (not mopping about Xuan Ji), you can still somehow sense that he was not okay inside. I think this is a great acting; makes you feel the character condition in arc timeline manner not just scene from scene. I really hate it when in some scene the character is great distress, then in the next scene (when the problem caused the sadness has not ended) he/she seems to loss this feeling when in conversation with other people; as if they only acted sad when the script is a sad scene.

Regarding Xuan Ji, some posters above have tried to defend her. In a way it is a dejavu for me for I have seen the same thing happen in Ashes of Love, hahaha. Unlike Jin Mi, I actually like Xuan Ji character. However, in the drama they deepen the missunderstanding more. And the way she keeps pandering to her sect starts to annoy me. Perhaps what you have said is correct. It is a matter of upbringing. Xuan Ji is used to people tell her what to feel and what to do. Still, I am waiting for her to realize everything and make up to Si Feng. I think Si Feng deserves to have that from her.

In term of story and plot, this drama has been superb this far. I hope this doesn't disappoint me by brushing off Xuan Ji fault easily. Well, if he did marry the other woman, the story will be too much like soap opera. So perhaps this is for the better, hahahaha.

I am too, waiting for that moment. Tired of this woman. She needs to learn to think by herself and to judge something by herself. She also needs to open her eyes to the fault of her people. I think she still has this prejudice towards demon.

So far she just swallowed all her father, Hao Chen, and Ling Long preaching. Even though she had a little doubt about their words, that doubt was soon disappear and she was again doubting Si Feng.
