I almost never have issues with age gaps, as long as the leads have enough chemistry, but I had an issue with…
actually I watched a jdrama dear sister and the teacher is a 3rd guy so she doesn't end up with him but he did some weird stuff like take her to a hotel room when she was still in highschool though he did "nothing" back then.
then they reunite and she ends up pregnant with his kid and he was married all along! like man that was crazy messed up...

while i agree with some of your opinions, i totally disagree with the one about Goblin. I did see him as a world…
indeed we are all allowed to look and interpret things differently and no one is wrong ;)

I actually did not watch that one, I was worried I'd find it awkward, not becasue of the age gap but the social gap? and how that might make the fl want to take care of him too much

well yeah as I said this was an analysis of age gaps in dramas which in turn just means how the writers chose…
as I said I have 0 prejudice on real life people, I know alot of them and they are all indeed happy and no one was against them or anything because it is their lives and people connect and match differently ;)

in the drama it just felt odd and mismatched, like even when they cast older actors for vampires/werewolves, they still somehow act and look/feel like they are in the same age group, so even a 40 year old pretends to be 20, and it's not a 20 year old with a 40 year old. and it just feels like they don't care how old the guy is but the girl has to be young.

Also my favorite couples are aesin and eugene from mr sunshine, in which their big a age gap shows but again they were just a great example of a well balanced couple

Title Alice
finally!! a worthy drama to help me out of the 2020 slump~

1st of all it makes me feel 2nd hand embarrassment for circle's cgi xD also we deserve a 2nd season for that ;(
2- everything is better with a confident smart strong fl ;) she looks gorgeous❤
3- the highschool part was slightly funny/awkward but well acted
4- I didn't like 2020, it was better than normal crime dramas but I hope that's not the main time zone, that's my biggest worry

Some of the ones you listed as bad or awkward I actually liked the pairing.Witch's Romance was a really good age…
our difference makes us unique ;D

I did try witch's romance while it aired without knowing the cast or caring for the age gap, but I think I dropped it, I don't remember much xD

"Age gaps don't bother me at all in dramas as long as the people are of legal age" THIS! Many of the "age gap"…
different people and different opinions even if we share the same result ;D
that's the point of this article, the age gaps are not bad because of the number but becasue of the representation

I enjoy age gap romances, as long as both are of legal age . Age gap, to me, means a story about falling in love…
well yeah as I said this was an analysis of age gaps in dramas which in turn just means how the writers chose to represent them ;D

even if the writing went downhill, if the guy was not 9 years older than her appearance-wise and personality-wise, and if goblin fl was not in highschool for the majority of the drama while the guy also didn't look 12 years older then it'd have been less bad. atleast they'd have had 2 "young" and naive, or 2 young and immature characters
though I did just dislike the overly naiveness of both fls.

it's like for mr sunshine, their age gap showed but their mental age was balanced so even if he looked way older they matched well

Indeed and that's why age gap dramas have a "rep" because most of the times people get worried it could go wrong.

If I see the fl being 10+ younger I worry she'll end up being too naive though I have that same thought when the fl is the one older xD
And for the ml I worry he'll be too cold and controlling or too naive if younger ;p

Thank you for taking the time to write about a very polarizing subject. Opinions seem to vary as wide some of…
Thank you for enjoying it :)
Yeah I mostly watch kdramas though I watched and hated 2 Japanese age gap and I really should add them to the list xD

I've not seen those, it wasn't really about the age gap I just didn't find them interesting ;p

Tbh my 1st Korean drama was oh my lady which was a cultural shock because the fl was an old ahjumma with a kid and her love interest was a super naive young actor with the 2nd lead being more closer to her age so I thought she'd end up with him xD after that I was actually more open to age gaps, though I do remember when my mister was announced I was scared they'd go the annoying creepy side but after that one I really removed my prejudice :)

Aw thanks ♡♡♡ (did you not like MS's coupling? xD)Student teacher can never go right, the 2 Japanese dramas…
I was team huisang, they all really need to reunite again xD

I really like the article. For me My Ahjussi is not a love story but a story about love, and that deep connection…
I feel like if the writers had good intentions with the age gap it could never go wrong, like it's part of the story and the characteristics rather than shallow reasons

I love dramas with age gaps but I tend to watch Older Man/ Younger Woman dramas aha. I agree with what you have…
And there's nothing wrong with different opinions I'm glad you could enjoy them ;)

I love age gap romance, especially with Noona.I don't know if I agree with all, but I liked your list.In my list,…
Weren't their character age gap "4" : Yoon Jin Ah (35). Seo Joon Hee (31)? That's what I found that's why I thought it was awkward that they made it seem like the gap was bigger

Wow I knew there was a gap so I didn't start it but 17! Kim bora has a really calm level headed personality in real life but she's sadly type casted as the naive young type. And that's why I hate age gaps... would it have been hard for them to cast an older actress or a younger guy? ;/

I like romances with age gap, esp older women/younger men trope. As long as both the actors are legal, I don't…
in WWW with the third couple the actress was older but her character was younger than him by a year or so :)
