Curious to see if there's anyone who have seen the OG and did not particularly like it?
Honestly, I also would like to see someone who did watch the OG and not like it. Not comments like, "oh the casts are ugly", or "the budget is low" or "the casts can't act". I have yet to find someone who genuinely finish the OG and did not like it.
This right here is the reason why SOOD will always hold a special place in my heart that the korean remake can never. Just listening to SOOD ost and I'm feeling so emotional because of all the feels and heartache I had when I first watch it. SOOD will never not make me cry. As someone who did watched the original, I really tried watching ATCY with no biases. But it is hard to do so when you love a drama so much. With that said, some things that was quite a let down for me was the OST. There was nothing special or captivating about them. I don't know if it was the artist or the song chosen but nothing can beat Last Dance by Wu Bai. Unfortunately, the songs here fell short and it's just not memorable for me.
Also, I've said this when ATCY was announced and it still stand true to me that they miscast the main leads. By no means I hate the actors or anything. Both JYB and AHS are great I just don't think they fit the character. I'm actually disappointed in the writing or probably JYB acting in the present time. I just wasn't convinced that she was grieving for her boyfriend. The emotions and feelings felt so flat, I couldn't feel sad that she lost her love one. Also the love and relationship just feel so bland between AHS and JYB.
I know, I know. I don't like telling people that they should watch the original but honestly Alice Ko did such a great job at portraying a grieving girlfriend. The way you can feel Alice Ko emotions, desperation, and grief. The way she was longing for someone who will never return to her. I know people who haven't watch the original will feel that ATCY is a good drama, but SOOD truly was a masterpiece. It's a shame that people won't watch it simply because all they ever watch are kdrama. But that's okay because sometime masterpiece aren't meant to be seen by everyone.
Sadly, I have stopped at episode 5 and it's for the better. I don't hate this remake, it just not great either. I get it that remake will never be the same but if you happen to give the original a try, you'll understand why so many fans of SOOD are disappointed. I guess I was looking forward to feel the feeling of longing for that missing someone.

I haven't finish this remake yet but considering I did watched the original, so far I hate the writing in ATCY. The biggest let down so far for me is the soundtrack. I truly believe SOOD ost was so good that it was fitting for each scene. It makes you immerse yourself in the moments of the characters. The music in ATCY did not captivate me, at least for now.

I don't think you get what I'm trying to say. Some people really believes that only korean actors can act and due to that mentality they will find all fault in the original, simply because it's not a kdrama. There's nothing wrong with remake but there's also no need to bring down the original drama. And this goes for any remake.
So excited to see this (and I LOVE LOVE the original Taiwanese SOOD upon which this is based)! My only concern…
The thing about this remake is that even if it is a total disappointment, all the people who only watches kdramas will still believe it is great. I'm not saying people should watch the original one, but there will always be people who believe this remake is better than the original without even watching it first. The trailer for example, is definitely not giving me any hope.

I didn't watched his three modern dramas that you mentioned when it was still airing so I can't speak to the rating here. But for a while now those three has been rated below 8. To be fair, all three dramas lack certain things in each area. I didn't think they were terrible but they definitely weren't the best. Sadly, LYX drama in the modern dept isn't the greatest.

I have the app downloaded because of TTEOTM and luckily i didnt deleted it. Now when i tried to subscribe to their vip my payment won't go through because apparently the app is not available in my region. I used one of my android phone to check and the app isn't available in google play store. I can only hope the app comes back now.
