This is the absolute best documentary on China's artists and artisans. Short of visiting China, there is nothing better. However, casting Zhang Nan and Sun Yihan in it, is probably the only reason most people are watching it all and I don't think they say more than 50 words to each other in the entire series. I also couldn't help but notice the correlation between the entertainment industry's first gay scandal/rumor and the harshness of punishment.... They are making an example of him or at minimum the prosecutor is a bigot who cannot be objective, suggesting to give worse sentence to YAH (than Seungri etc.) for possibly being gay....

I don't remember the justice system calling those involved in the Burning Sun Scandal "reprehensible". I'm trying to rack my brain as to why they refer to acts that only serve to hurt Yoo Ah In himself and no one else personally, as "reprehensible". But acts that literally destroyed the lives of various women were covered up by cops and allowed to go on for years, until a few suicides and actions put the spotlight on South Korea by foreigners who started to ask questions, followed by the #MeTo movement. It simply baffles the mind at what South Korean justice finds horrible and what they're okay with... especially when they ended up giving substantially reduced sentences to these gentlemen. Hell, Seungri was given THREE years for his involvement, and it was later reduced to 18 months. But they want FOUR years for Yoo Ah In???? What a freaking joke.
If someone goes through this comment section they'll probably be pretty tired reading about the same thing over and over again, but all I can do is repeat that this was pretty mediocre at best, except for the two leads. Even they weren't especially well written, but their chemistry was really good and I liked how natural their acting was. Their colleagues also get a passing grade, they were at least entertaining a few times, but everything and everyone else is pretty badly written. In which parallel universe does this take place where foreign people come into a country, just ignore every (labor) law and handle everything according to what's "normal" in their own country? Also, their decisions in the last episode didn't make any sense to me, especially because of how it ended.

Stuff like this blows my mind. People will acknowledge the message of the movie and then turn around and say everyone gets treated exactly the same, and that historically things between men and women "go both ways" even though being a man never automatically made you property at any point in history lol.
I also dislike when people call bigotry a "mistake". It makes it sound like some harmless, cute thing when it is in fact a mindset, and a way of life that's supported by active choices. Yes, people can change and it's wonderful when it happens, but I've noticed the language surrounding the change is always very mild, and almost infantile as if these aren't grown people who had hate in their heart. Nope. Bigotry is an itty bitty mistake the person didn't mean to make.
I'm seeing lots of people saying that this drama is boring and something like this. Well, I respect other's people opinion, but the thing is: this drama is very different... I mean... the concept of this drama is different. It's very focused on business, big companies, ceos, money that never ends... So, if you don't like these kind of things you would probably think that this drama is freaking boring. But if you like these things I've mentioned, then you will certainly enjoy this drama. Also, the female characters are very strong. They are different from the kind of roles that we have in usual dramas... like... When the two main female characters are talking, they barely talk about men or a specific man or something like that... They talk about plans, about themselves, about other stuff... So, for me, it's a very good drama, but only if you're looking for a drama different than usual.
This Drama is a chess match composed of insight, focus, and will. Understanding the essence of individuals, always keeping one's goal as the decision maker, and the determination to follow through are the strengths of the main character. There is no chosen protagonist. The audience decides. The antagonist is our own bias. If people see Lee Yo Won's character as "cold and calculating", it is a reaction to her blunt honesty in her assessment of people and relations.
I absolutely enjoyed this Drama. It exposed yet another aspect of us. A side of us we so quickly dismiss.
Lee Yo Won is an incredible professional. She is adept at communicating complex and mixed emotions without overt expressions. This is a talent and gift.

This is such an underrated gem and it has such a legendary cast as well! I don't think it should have such a low rating considering how well-produced it is. I fell in love with the drama from the first episode. Seo Yi Kyung was such an incredible female lead. It's so refreshing to have a female character who understands business on such a scale. I suppose the drama is not for everyone because it may seem slower, but if you enjoy power struggles and scheming, definitely watch it. The sismance was incredibly strong almost to the point it felt like GL. I loved the OST and the stunts, they really made me love it even more! The ending may feel weird for some, but I think it was very beautiful and consistent with the character development.
I'm currently on episode 10 and I must say that the relationship between the two ladies keeps me going, it's what's keeping me invested. They have great chemistry and the focus of their dynamic is 100% on them without the intrusion of an unnecessary love story with the male lead (or any other character so far). It completely passes the Bechdel test. It also borders on non-platonic so much that I feel confident in stating that there are romantic feelings between the two. No doubt in my mind that this was intended by the creatives.

both original and remake are really good, we all agree the original is a masterpiece but this is also amazing
