Yeah, hah, green screens everywhere, pretending dragons are real 🐉😅 I can only imagine how tough that is for the actors… and for us viewers too! Heavy CGI makes it tricky to fully sink into the story

I'm guessing a lot of the disappointment comes from people expecting a romance arc and not getting one, probably the biggest reason. But some viewers might have hoped for more: philosophy, introspection, identity-seeking, and exploration of self...
From what I’ve seen, some complaints make sense too. The show was marketed as a “wuxia hybrid” but leans heavily on xuanhuan/fantasy, and the CGI didn’t help for anyone expecting a more grounded story.
So yeah, a mix of expectations vs. reality… but mostly, the lack of romance is what hit people hardest.

Liu Yan drama version so far is giving “vendetta-driven psycho” more than misunderstood pawn... Conveniently unhinged, strategically bitter. Let's wait and see, but right now he looks like someone who would burn an entire forest just to warm his ego for five minutes

Yeah I really like that the show suggests instead of spelling things out, all those little hints without explanation feel like puzzle pieces they’re slowly feeding us. It gives me a mild headache sometimes, but TLC’s calm presence kind of grounds the chaos in a weirdly soothing way 😂

On episode 8, current thoughts:
The plot is getting more layered, I like that… I didn’t read the source novel (or any other adaptation if one exists), but I can’t shake the feeling that both Tang Lici and Liu Yan are being played by something bigger... a mastermind behind it all... Idk, they feel like two sides of the same tragedy... both victims, just on different paths...which makes me think the ending might hit double hard. 😭...Here we go, I told myself I wouldn’t theorize and would just “let the drama surprise me,” but my brain said absolutely not and started spinning scenarios anyway 😂.... And because this is:
a) a Luo Yunxi drama, and b) a pure fantasy with basically zero genre boundaries… I’m mentally prepared for any type of poetic heartbreak at this point. “Xuanxia” pretty much gives it a free pass to twist in any direction and still call it destiny 😂🙈

Btw, Bai Shu with white hair??? Delightful 🥰🥰. Loved that entrance. 🤭 ...Shen Langhun’s whole setup gives me full Desperado (movie) vibes; the grief, the revenge, the way others’ power games steal everything from him… I like his character and his motivations....And Cloud is just the sweetest loyal little bean 😭I don't think we saw his backstory yet...The pacing is lightning fast, and it feels like we’re standing right before a major shift…

ZCJ and TLC’s backstories are fascinating, and I’m super curious where they’ll go. And eh… the CGI sometimes it’s just ott and feels indeed fake. Imagine if they’d used real locations... the adventure would’ve felt so much more grounded and cinematic.
I get it’s a fantasy-heavy drama, but it still borrows wuxia elements, and less can be more. Use real places, sprinkle in effects if needed, and let the story breathe. Right now, the over-the-top CGI almost makes it feel like an anime, and it really distracts me from fully enjoying it.

Currently at Ep 7 and honestly, the cast is the best part… feels like a flashback to the past (TTEOTM, MLC, FYH, LB, L&R) 🥹 My brain is just playing “spot the actor, spot the trauma” every episode 😂
The plot… hmm. No idea where they’re steering this SHIP (pun intended 🚢) and I told myself to just go with it and let myself be surprised…I actually like every character so far... Really moving backstories, especially ZCJ’s 🥹 She’s probably my favorite female character in the show. The flashbacks between TLC, FZ, and LY are done really well too… curious to see what caused their drift.
People keep asking about the romance arc and I, a certified romance advocate™, am just sitting here thinking: actually… the story doesn’t need it. 😳 First time in a xianxia-ish drama I’m not waiting for a kiss 😂...What I am waiting for and hoping to see more of is introspection, identity, conviction, Tang Li Ci’s layers... The CGI is so sparkling it almost gave me a nosebleed 🤯 Top-notch, yes… but...but I’m still waiting for that emotional marrow that sticks beyond the visuals ✨

Currently at Ep 5 (between shifts but I couldn’t resist 😭)… and I’m officially hooked.... Plot moves fast, mysteries are intriguing without feeling forced, and the show blends subtle jianghu adventures vibes into this heavy fantasy world, giving them room to surprise us at every turn...Luo Yunxi doesn’t even need a spotlight; the guy communicates a hundred emotions with just his eyes. Fantasy dramas suit him perfectly; every rage, longing, or mischievous glance hits like a tiny heartbreak 💔...Chi Yun and Tang Lici’s banter adds perfect levity, while Liu Yan and TLC are already cooking up enough drama to fuel a dozen cliffhangers 😂.... Xiao Shun Yao’s charisma shines too... can’t wait for more interactions between his character and TLC.
The black market scene gave me full Halloween vibes 👻🎃... eerie, mysterious, and cozy. Usually I don’t mind spoilers, sometimes I even prefer them, but here I’m holding out... it’s the kind of watch you want to surprise you. Ready for heartbreak, triumph, chaos, and chaos again; bring it on! 🎢

Decent short for killing time while waiting for noodles or a bus. But that final scene...eh. That kind of ending is overplayed 😂. Scriptwriters leaning on transmigration or novel-return: time to upgrade your creativity stats!

Lighting too bright, serious moments too light, makeup all pretty colors but stage-play OTT, and side plots left undercooked. The frustrating part is how much potential you can see under all that gloss. But taken for what it is, the leads’ chemistry carries; making it another “don’t think too hard, just vibe with it” kind of short drama.

Finally, a pure xianxia that’s actually fun to watch! No transmigrations, no endless “oops, I’m in another body” drama… just two leads sticking together; a clever FL, a calm ML, and a romance that actually stays true to itself. After being buried in too many transmigration dramas lately, at this rate I’m half-expecting to wake up in a novel myself tomorrow. 😂🤦‍♀️

A joyful, stylish romance that proves sometimes xianxia can just work without overcomplicating things. Highly recommended if you’re in the mood for something short, sweet, and charming.💫

Started with a mysterious, promising premise...night deity/demon falling for a... human, sounds fun, right? Wrong. 😂 The setup had me hooked for the first few episodes, but alas, the plot lost its footing way too early, even for a mini. I really dislike dropping shows, but I had to bail halfway. If flashbacks, memory loss, love triangles, and generally a mess of a story aren’t your thing, you might want to skip this one.

Just realized the ML here also plays a support role in The Journey of Legend. No wonder I kept thinking, where have I seen this guy before? Thing is, I never even added this drama to my watchlist yet I vaguely remember there was a midair proposal scene 😂.

Ahhh, so that’s why the ML’s scared of dogs, mystery solved! Add the role reversal, and now we’re in for some real fun. The the double standards of these immortals… whew. Preaching about chaos and justice while scheming to keep their power... basically our politicians at work, just with fancier robes 😂.
These two eps of flashbacks were definitely needed to lay out the background, and since this is a mini drama with limited episodes, it’s the clearest and most practical way to get that across.

And that neck-biting-against-the-pillar moment, blood conveniently invisible👀, gave me full-on Vampire Diaries flashbacks ⏮⌛🎞️. Drinking from the beloved, a trope older than time, yet somehow still recycled like it’s fresh 😂. At this point, I don’t know if I’m watching high fantasy or a comedy skit in xianxia cosplay, but either way, I’m entertained! (⁠ᗒ⩊ᗕ ྀི)

Skipped through this one and my feelings are mixed. Great OST, excellent acting (with this lead duo, how could it not be), and the chemistry works, but the story just never pulled me in. Too many clichés and weak arcs for my taste (misunderstandings, 3rd wheels, unreasonable choices)... sometimes even the best acting can’t save that. That said, it does have warm, healing moments and family dynamics that hit, so if you’re after comfort vibes over tight storytelling, you might still enjoy it.

I remember catching this while it aired... the hype was massive. Wallace acted one note, Angelababy stood there, the story wobbled off a cliff, and the OST carried my heart away 🎶😂.

Back here again, rewatching some parts after surviving yet another emotional rollercoaster of a drama finale. TT

Di 'er, Shen Li and Xing Zhi’s relationship shines with emotional maturity and natural chemistry. Their love unfolds with intimacy and respect, avoiding the usual xianxia melodrama.
Di san, this is a therapeutic xianxia, a soothing watch with slice-of-life moments, gentle pacing, and fantasy elements that let you mentally reset.
Di si, (if you still need another reason to watch), they gift us a whole episode of pure serenity. A rare treasure in this genre, enough to spoil you for any rushed finales elsewhere.

Thought I’d watch this finale on my break… bad idea. Now I’m the tragic lead crying into my sandwich.

As expected, they reunite in the afterlife, starting over without carrying the burdens of the mortal world. It’s the only way that truly makes sense for them. After everything, cycles of obsession, betrayal, impossible love, and regret...they could never have found peace in life. Their love was too entangled with pain, too scarred by choices that couldn’t be undone. Only by leaving behind the weight of the past could they finally meet again, free and unburdened.

Today’s episode hit like a paradox… love so determined it wants to defy death itself, and yet so powerless it can’t even fill an empty heart. That’s the tragedy, isn’t it? When devotion crosses into obsession, you’re left clutching ashes, convinced they’re still warm. 💔

What strikes me most isn’t just the grief, but Zi’ang’s self-awareness behind it. That gut-punch realization that maybe ambition, duty, even love itself can become the very things that break us. Those “what ifs” feel almost heavier than the love story… they sting because we’ve all stood there at some point, staring back at our own choices, wondering if every step was the wrong one.

But here’s the thing… isn’t that just life in a nutshell? Messy, tragic, breathtaking, ridiculous all at once. One moment you’re crying over the unbearable weight of regret, the next you’re laughing at yourself for letting fictional characters tear you open like this. …Aiyah, pass the tissues and maybe some chocolate 🍫😭 clearly, we’re going to need both.

Just had a discussion on another platform about whether The Untamed counts as a romance or just a bromance, and … I can’t believe my eyes 😅. Do viewers today seriously need explicit kisses and steamy touches to call something a romance? Like… have they forgotten how much power is in a look, a pause, a word unsaid?

In my opinion, it’s that tension, that unspoken feeling behind the lines, that made the show what it is. I honestly think this drama portrays friendship as well as the romance and emotional connection far better than some of the more explicit BLs out there nowadays. But… yeah, I must be getting old, because apparently the youth of today aren’t satisfied with “wistful eye-gazing at each other” anymore 😂😂
