I actually don't think we're supposed to believe he works that much when he's not courting Sarang. I think they're purposefully showing him slacking off so he can have that character arc once he finally decides to manage the hotel (because he has found purpose or something).

@10727393 I'm aware you never said it was bad. 🙂 I'm not sure it would be so hard for me to binge-watch this show (given how every week I can't wait for the next episode), but even if it was, I wouldn't take that as a sign that it's lacking. Reply 1988 for instance is a show that is nearly impossible for me to binge-watch and I still think it's one of the greatest ever made (and while the genre is different it's also mostly about people doing random stuff and developing relationships). Maybe it's just a matter of what is important to you when you watch a show, but personally I don't need a thrilling plot to stay interested (especially when it's a rom-com). Seeing the relationships unfold, the chemistry, the character growth, is what is thrilling to me. And this one is also well-produced, funny, has interesting supporting characters and manages to breathe some fresh air into some old tropes and clichés. I could hardly be happier with it. 😉
Edit: To be honest I kinda respect them for having the balls to create a show with so little plot. You have to trust in your ability to do everything else well for it to work and they really did.
@8571183 There was an Arab prince character on the show that was considered to be a misrepresentation of Arab culture. A massive amount of people gathered to protest and give one star ratings to the show (it's now rated 2,2/10 on IMDB - all the one star ratings that were given on MDL following that controversy have been deleted so the average is still quite high) Many of the protestors were virulent and I hear even the actors have been receiving death threats. The production company officially apologized after some time and said they were going to delete the scenes that were deemed problematic, which they have already started doing on some platforms.
I'm so done with childhood connection tropes in kdramas fr!!!! That's the only trope I can't handle, who tf meets…
They really underestimate how many people long to watch normal, realistic love stories unfold. Seeing two relatable, imperfect people change and grow through an apparently hazardous relationship is much more interesting /and/ romantic to me. You really don't need to make the relationship fated for it to be beautiful. I can't stress this enough.
And this isn't necessarily a comment about the show, by the way. There are also a lot of people who enjoy this kind of stories and luckily for them they exist (I certainly can enjoy them too at times, if they're well-written). It's just a general comment.
