Broad is not an insulting or derogatory term it is simply a slang term meaning 'woman'. It does not and has never been derogatory or any negative meaning. Calling a woman a Broad is the same as calling a man a 'dude'.

Three generations ago it was looked down upon to use slang terms like 'chick', 'bird' or 'broad' by those who felt that slang was scandalous and all women must be called 'Lady'.
But the term 'broad' has never had a meaning other than....woman.

He is in so many short episode dramas and does such a good job but none of them are listed here on MDL.

If you want to learn about a culture watch their movies and television. The main plot will be fiction the the everyday background behaviour of the characters will be what is everyday in their culture.
So yes, the normalised lack of expectation of privacy in all Chinese film and television that has nothing to dp with the plot does indeed suggest it to be a cutural issue rather than fiction.
The same with in Kdrama the significant value of wealthy over poor or unhappy people relueving their unhappiness by attacking people online.
Or in all US films and television making jokes about Mexican immigrants being looked down on and treated as lesser citizens while that is a real unspoken culture there you see when you visit.
So no it is actually important to talk about regularly occuring undercurrents in a cultures media.

I have only watched episode 1 but......
The absolute and glaring fault of this drama is the writters insist on the seeress/prophetess only working for and having babies with her half brother. Every. Single. Generation.
Father gives his daughter by seeress, who is imprisoned, to his eldest son whom he had with his wife. He gives his daughter to his son. To own for predicting the future for him and to make a daughter together. The daughter he will gift to his own son with his actual wife. And the daughters do not get the option to say "NO, I do not want baby making activitues with you."
And our two leads are full brother and sister so I PRAY they do not write romance for them because 🤮
So the foundation of the story is r*pe, slavery and incest.
What. In. Goodness. Name.

If he was born in 1999 why is he listed in tv shows in 1998?
And 2004 and 2005 and 2007?
But most especially before he was even born. 😖

Yeah this is comedy not abuse.
So in the real abusive dramas the ML does SO much worse. This FL attacks the ML ...the same way siblings do to each other....when he forces unwanted attantion as he keeps following her around despite her constantly saying to leave her alone.
His 'stalking and harrassing her' is comedic the same way as her 'abusing' him to leave her alone is.

Why did @dooh talk about the FL being abusive and double standards but then have a horrible double standard of not addressing the ML being Stalking and Harassment?
Anyway, what I mean to say is that no it is not dark or abusive drams it is light comedy set in not real world.

I hated the fiance. There is no excuse but instead being honest that he is a straight up everyday villian who leaves selfish destruction to everyone who trusts and loves him...they have her take blame for his shittiness and do the 'well it's not his fault he hurts people because he is stressed right?' *puke*.
Her arc was good and also very real. In reality we struggle to turn off feelings when things end unexpectedly badly or not. It is a journey of healing as well as finding our strength and self love. Facts.
Uh, her love development....made zero sense. Hi I just met you and we have barely spoken nor held hands but it furns out you love me body and soul and are ready to protect and cherish me for life. Like what?

I hear you guys it's good but can't get over the ick factor of an underage girl and any full grown adult but especially an adult with a position of authority over said minor.
If a writer made a damaged teen aged girl and her damaged step-father having a healing romance after her mothers/his wifes death seem funny and sweet and a beautiful romance.....
Even if it was so beautifully written the adults having romances with children being romanticised and normalised completely freaks me out.

And then they cast the man 63yo man who had spent his career forcing underage girls with himself or others for roles or just straight forcing.
The law in SK did those victims dirty by giving him 10 months of jail for being a serial r*pist of minors but the movie industry does all of his victims beuond dirty that he gets roles in this and so many other things.
R*ping minors should be a career ender for an actor.
But here he is on set with access to more young girls smh.

I like that he is muscular and the way he talks. Both seem very unique in c-drama land.
