The story was open ended, basically told us that, a permanent cure can only be found after it passed on to multiple people. The source was only the beginning. It's not perfect yet.
Think of a virus. The story reversed that and considered the possibility that a cure also acts like a virus—it needs to pass on to multiple people so it can mutate.
Depending on how you look at it, the story was either sad or hopeful. Sad because a lot of people died, and the reputation of the source was tarnished and everyone who worked with the company the source signed-up with. But it was also hopeful because humanity will soon have a permanent natural antibodies.

"Cheese Babka" is the Filipino "Ensaymada". The only thing different was Ensaymada was spread (inside) with butter margarine, Cheese Babka was cheese. Everything else were very closely similar. As far as her character and plot are concerned, it was wrong and a mistake. But as far as you and I are concerned, we should give her a break because we now know better.
