The part I am always waiting is the confrontation between the Queen and the Queen Mother. It's concubine vs concubine. No royal bloodline vs no royal bloodline.
It is the most ironic thing in the entire ancient history of humankind. I haven't seen nor read that kind of plot even in Western stories.

You know, come to think of it. If Uisung's mother knows the real identity of the physician (and why she's protecting him);
+ and the physician's real identity is he is the mysterious “only living son” left of the deposed Queen;
+ then that is why they she and the physician seem to have a relationship, at least implied in episode 6.
They were probably supposed to get married until things went south.
When the opportunity arose to fight back; or to take back what's rightfully theirs; she did not hesitate. If Uisung is the grandson of the deposed Queen, then he is the rightful heir. They have a much stronger claim to the throne.
That physician, striking a deal with the current Queen and willing to take his secrets to the grave, that is one heck of a conviction. He'd rather lose his life than betray anyone.
I think Uisung's mother never doubted the physician will speak, she just said the physician might eventually give up and speak just to convince her father to stop the investigation. Her real agenda was to save him.
LOL. There is a possibility she, the current Queen, and the deposed Queen, might end up helping each other, not exactly as allies, but on a mission to stop a common enemy -- the Queen Mother. Because as of episode 6, the three of them are barely surviving.
But, they have to keep the officials under their control. I wonder if the Queen Mother knows they are fighting amongst themselves.

She only acted today because she saw an opportunity, and she's thinking that the Queen Mother is on her side. If Uisung is indeed the physician's son, then she's probably thinking now is her time to secure her son's future without anyone discovering his biological father.
In any case, the actress having that role is suspicious enough. Hahahahaha. She plays that role well. :p
So can someone clarify for me why the Queen hasn't out and out said to her sons that they need to get on the ball…
From what I can deduce from all the episodes so far, is that the four other sons are either (1) fight-or-flight (more on the flight); and (2) spoiled too much, they can't be trusted to act accordingly (which is their exact problem all the time).
Telling them the truth when they can't put themselves in check, to learn how to hide their thoughts, and not to act like 6-year-olds, will give the entire palace: 1. a laughingstock 2. the other factions, learning the Queen's camp is aware of what's happening 3. the Queen will have a harder time finding out who's who because their enemies will be extra careful
Maintaining the status quo for those four kids is more beneficial currently. She needs to train them first, to mould them as real princes, like their elder brother was.
The 2nd and 3rd sons are starting to act like real princes. 1. The 2nd prince owes his big brother, so he started to change. 2. The 3rd prince have a secret he has to keep at-all-costs; and through it, he learned to be careful, to be more matured, and to stop acting like a brat who only cares about what he wants.
When those two are ready, I have no doubt the Queen will tell them what's really happening in the palace. More likely, they will discover it themselves.
The 2nd prince is already far too observant for his own good, and will probably piece things together. The 3rd prince is quiet but observant too, a bit slow, but as he matures more, he'll start to see things no one else can see.
The 2 youngest sons, they're far from being useful and must still be protected. For example, when their big brother died, only them acted like 4-year-olds. The 2nd and 3rd princes were more composed.
So, from the Queen's perspective, if she tells her sons in their current maturity and knowledge the truth of the palace, either they'll try to escape-which would be a hell-or they'll continue to act like brats and expose the Queen to shame.
The truth always have a proper time to be revealed. If revealed at the wrong time, the truth can become the death of the hearer and the source. And in their palace culture, it can spell death for the queen and all of her sons.

Is this really a comedy? It doesn't even qualify as a dark comedy. It's far too serious, and the political factions and moves were correct.
