I really hope it is permanent because I've seen or read something similar before. Same plot, the cure is in the blood and it was a one chance thing. It ended up like this…
"Cheese Babka" is the Filipino "Ensaymada". The only thing different was Ensaymada was spread (inside) with butter margarine, Cheese Babka was cheese. Everything else were very closely similar. Grated cheese..Salty. Sweet. Rolled similarly (but Ensaymada also have modern styles). Same size too. I wonder where he got.the inspiration, after all, there is nothing new under the sun, almost everything for the last 1000 years is us reinventing (a.k.a. inspired by) or rediscovering (creating something independently but actually already existed before or somewhere else).
Okay, what's with the focus on cheating? That's a plot device they set up for use later. And LOL, I already expected…
Give the attorney a break. The day she slept with her ex was also her ovulation day. It was scientifically proven for decades that the female half of the human and animal population have hightened hormones thus increasing their desire to pro-create. Then there was her ex who made a move on her = her hormones and biological desire got the best of her.
Was it right? Is it justification? An excuse? That depends on what your personal standards are. But for the attorney herself, it was clear that it was not acceptable, and she regretted it. Not only that, the probability that she got pregnant is much higher on that day, which she no doubt realized when she got home.
As far as her character and plot are concerned, it was wrong and a mistake. But as far as you and I are concerned, we should give her a break because we now know better. It is never easy to fight against yourself when hormones and biological programming unites, especially if you do not know how your body works because you forgot your Science subjects.
That plot device will be used later. For now, just go with the flow.
Okay, what's with the focus on cheating? That's a plot device they set up for use later. And LOL, I already expected it the moment they introduced him as ex. Heck, I already expected he will die framed up as a rapist.
Episodes 1–3 in a 12-episode format is often for setting up plot devices and twists. If you're focusing on the wrong things this early, you will definitely not enjoy the rest of it.
Can't they tell she victim is under duress? I expected the attorneys to have detected it in both cases (the rape and murder) most especially since they've been doing rape cases for 10 years, but nope, they did not.
Another odd thing there despite their 10 years of experience is that they never once asked her or told her, "Are you being forced to do this? Did they threaten your family? Blink twice if you are under duress." That is SOP when a client is acting differently than they used to.
Sure, in the rape case, it could've been mistaken as trauma, but the murder case? The mere fact she wants to handle things her own way is a strong sign she's under duress. And what did the attorney do? She confronted the victim instead of helping her. Are they trying to tell us that in their 10 years of experience, they never once encountered a victim under duress? Since they used Korea's real world statistics, are they telling us that they never had a case where victims were under duress?
If they're rookie attorneys, sure, that is acceptable. But they are not. They have 10 years of experience under their belt. Three attorneys at that and not one of them considered the possibility she's trapped.
Sorry to say, but people that are not food trained shouldn’t be judges of any kind of food competition, if they…
They're the wild cards. It's a common practice in many similar shows in different countries, there is always one or two "common people", after all, the one who buys, or will buy, their products are the "common people".
Besides, half the time in even in Korean competitions, while the invited judges do work in the industry, half of them doesn't even know how to judge. It's no different from judges who are not involved in the same industry as the contestants, like in this case.
Lastly, as one of the judges repeatedly said, "current marketing". From a variety show producer's perspective, they know at least half of the audiences will resonate with non-professionals because they're judging like how they would if they're sitting there. Especially since 2010 where knowing if someone is genuine is far more important than the opinion of a professional.
Think of it this way:
- People reacting to a professional judge: Ah. Okay. Makes sense. - People reacting to a non-professional judge: Really? Now I'm interested. Hey! Let's try it next week!
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I had the same reaction with two of the judges. For me there are two who shouldn't be there—and I'm a fan of the other one. But I also understand why the producer invited them. At the end of the day, it still is a variety show more than an AAA / prestigious competition.
The timing of the release was really bad then, we just had a good body swap show a few weeks ago. It's still fresh. They'll have to do very good with the plot to avoid getting compared.
When it comes to body swaps, Tdrama does it best. The Thais mastered the genre, the Kdrama industry is far from it still. They should at least release them months apart. Let the audience mode on first.
They packed all the annoying clichés in a single episode, I no longer have an idea what else they'll do. 😆
I mean: - ML and FL not knowing each other - FL's father being fooled - FL protecting her mother and father when she has a secret identity - Annoying guy posted a wanted poster of the Prince - The second(?) son of the secretary treating the FL badly when she's going to become his grandmother - The king, ML's brother, not realizing he is being played - The ML is likely going to be arrested by that annoying guy with the help of the second son of the secretary - Then FL is going to be dragged as well so the secretary will be forced to discontinue his plan to marry the FL to his dying 70 years old father - The king will start noticing the ML and think he's plotting to take over the throne - The ML and FL are then accused of plotting against the king - Everyone will learn the FL's secret identity, they'll used it to kill the ML because he also kept it secret - And there are two to three other love triangles and arranged marriage plots
That's pretty much it. Nothing else to watch. 🤪 I really hope they have a compelling story and interesting twists since they dropped everything in Episode 02. Usually, an author does that to get the clichés and expectations out of the way but not everything! In this show, they dropped everything already! Hahaha.
They need to make episodes 3–4 very interesting. They gave everything away already. 😅
What was the FL thinking? Didn't she realise that if the ML is found guilty or admitted to being guilty, all his past cases will be up for review and opened for being challenged?
Their creditor will definitely use that to challenge them being exempt. And in a world that is unfair to those without connections and money, well, we all know the likely scenario. The ML practically served as their shield and the ML realised that the moment she reminded him.
- The ML challenged her because he gambled she wouldn't do it. - The FL cornered him in court expecting he will lie to protect her. - The ML was surprised she really gave her best, so he chose to admit he is guilty so as not to tarnish her career. - The FL was surprised the ML didn't lie, and now their creditor might take advantage of the situation.
For the ML, he probably gambled (again) that the FL can fight their creditor legally since she has proven she can do it, right there and then. So, the ML chose to admit it instead of lying. He protected her reputation and he knew she is ready to fight and win.
I want to taste that Cheese Babka.

Wife: *looked at the calendar, and there's a heart on that day*
They've been trying to have a kid for sometime so they're marking the day.

At least that's how I see it.
The Devil Judge Returns Again My Life

So, you may want to adjust your expectations of any adaptations and just enjoy them for what it is.
