My guess is that the masked man is Zhao Bingwen, the Minister for Revenue shown attending the Empress Dowager's funeral. He seems to be a high ranking official and somehow the way he walked struck me like looking like the masked man. Also the masked man walks with a limp and during the Empress Dowager's funeral, Zhao Bigwen got up more slwoly compared to the others. Also in the cast list Mr Eight real name is Zhao Tonger. And I saw cfans theories that she might be the duaghter of Zhao Bingwen She seems to be the daughter of a high ranking official as she was able to enter the women's quarters of the palace where Xiang Antu was being taught. Adding in that masked man says that Zanghai will meet his contact at Zhenlu. We assume the contact was Master Gaoming but later Xiang Antu tells Mr Eight that she insisted on telling the story of the Empress Dowager, so what if the actual contact was Mr Eight.

Legend of Heroes has already been released internationally in different countries. It just hasn't come to internationally streaming paltforms yet. In china it is still showing in cinemas but was also released on 10 streaming platforms.

As for dexian, still no release date has been given although this year seems likely.

It was never recorded as recording were prohibited and only the curtain calls were allowed to be recorded. Whatever recordings of certain scences that were there were either one shared by the drama itself on their weibo although there were some illegal reocrdings of some scenes shared by people who watched the play.

Came across an explanation for episodes 11 and 12

The purpose of burying the incense burner and hidden weapon was to test whether there were any spies of the masked man around (the incense burner was super obvious) and to force the masked man to reveal more information with his urgency (the masked man wanted to use him to find something and didn't want him to be so impulsive, so he could only tell him that there was more than one enemy and more information to make him believe and stabilize Zang Hai). He also successfully found out who the second person was and verified the existence of three enemies.

As for the identity, Zang Hai showed it to Zhuang Er on purpose to test whether he remembered it or not, because Zang Hai wanted to use him to support him and had to confirm whether there was any problem with this person at the beginning. If Zhuang Er didn't remember the scar, he could turn him against him without any worries. If he remembered it, it would be the situation in the play. He almost implemented the worst plan to kill Zhuang Er, but because he had investigated the situation of the Marquis' Mansion and Zhuang Er's mother before (Zang Hai had mentioned to his master that Zhuang Er's mother suddenly fell out of favor), and when he was about to kill Zhuang Er, he saw the flowers on the grave, so he could come up with the best plan, using Zhuang Er's mother to stabilize Zhuang Er and make him his own. As for Guan Feng, Zang Hai was already in danger (he was weak and couldn't beat them), and seeing the eight lancet set given by Zang Hai's father's, he guessed that he was Guan Feng, and he had to try it to save his life, but he didn't directly say that he was Zhi Nu. He guided Guan Feng to find the scar on his back, and then confirmed that it was Guan Feng and said that he was Zhi Nu. If he was not Guan Feng, he would not know the scar, and Zang Hai would not have revealed Zhi Nu's identity and would have found another way. So no matter which time it was, Zang Hai always made the best choice based on his own considerations under the circumstances at the time.

Is this drama as fun as it looks in trailer. Looking for something light to balance the dark theme in Legend of Zanghai?

Unrelated to the drama but does MDL have a way to view older comments instead of just clicking on load more comments. Like something showing me that I am viewing page 1 of 10 for comments.

I think many people seem to be viewing Zanghai through the lenses of the tomb raider wang zanghai who was known as the super strategist and genius builder. Therefore they expect zanghai to be the same, despite the fact that there is no direct connection at all. Zanghai is still learning and making mistakes but what makes him different is his ability to adapt and learn to control the situation. Like this character does have to learn how to control his emotions and that is what makes this story interesting. Furthermore Zanghai waited 10 years to take revenge, he is not going to it do it in 2 episodes


Sometimes seeing the reactions of drama watchers now. I think that if NiF premiered now, people would probably call it a bad drama and too slow.

I would actually attribute the difference to her being from a different state. She comes from Dongxia which is a matriarchal country and she was a princess there. Even her hairstyle reflects that, kept down when compared to other female characters.

Since we as the audience are seeing the drama through Zanghai's eyes, I keep wondering whether he is an unreliable narrator, only showing what is needed too.

Why is everyone comparing this drama and the actors acting to Nirvana in Fire. I get both are revenge dramas but there are lot of differences. Mei Changsu was already an adult with experience and had friends who helped him out. Zanghai is a commoner and alone , only having a master who has no promienence.

Despite not being shown, the drmaa does a good job of sketching out the emperor character. He is someone who both fears his officials but at the same time wants the love of his people as shown through the empress dowager fomb case.

Something I am looking forward to is seeing the backstory for the villain. Right now we know Marquis Pingjin is corrupted, good at martial arts and reminsces fondly about his past battles. I don't want a backstory that will whitewash him but just to understnad why he became what he is.

Just saw the drama had released new stills and realised we might be getting that dagger and crossbow scence between zanghai and antu as seen in the trailer

After seeing the last episode, it came to my mind that the master might be one of hte builders of the imperial tomb as he had knwledge of building and geomancy. He was sentenced to death after the tob construction but was saved by the masked man

Finally we get a villain who realises the importance of killing first before talking.

Because the princess is actually a hostage or literally a spoils of war. Her carriage being far behind shows that she was not a very important hostage. And her crying shows that she knows her situation is not good. She proabbly was not being treated very well by the soliders either and when Zanghai dared to peek into the carriage, she felt that even an ordinary netizen could bully her and that's why she ran out to hit him.

The kidnapped kid part also reveals the second son's status. If he were truly important to the Marquis, he would have tried to find him but the second son is the unfavoured son of a concubine so the marquis does not care enough.

I don't think anybody knows cause the drama is based on an original script.
