The first few episodes were very entertaining, then a succession of trivial events gave way to the culinary spectacle.…
Exactly. the writer(s) lost track of what they had in both the plot and the actors. it could have been a magical final episode or two—but they forgot or ignored how they set it up. The ending they gave us did not match the promise of the original story.
I enjoyed it for the most part and really liked the cast. I loved both the leads. Where I find the series weak is in production and balance. I would have enjoyed the series more if the leads had more and longer scenes together, less emphasis on the cooking and the bad guys, neither of which I was as interested in. The poor balance is never clearer than the ending which basically happens in just a few minutes and the series is done. Seriously? The writer and director missed the opportunity to do so much more with the two charming leads and their retinue, and how it could have been delightful with a couple of eps where she is teaching him, and he is getting it faster than she can keep up. Lots more humor too because they are both good there as well. In short, I do recommend this series, but I thought it and the cast, especially the leads, were good enough to be better.
I thought this was an enjoyable series for the most part, but not the strong production expected of great K-Drama. It’s a terrific cast, but both the writing and direction seemed too often unsure of the focus and purpose moving toward solid closure. It’s a well-intended production but not as sharp and clear as needed. Still, there are some fine scenes and performances, so it’s definitely above average.
The actors are all very good. The problem for me with the series is that the script is uneven at best, the ending is odd at best, and the leads are poorly directed so that too often they are one-dimensional and unsympathetic. When we have an excellent cast, then the failure of the series lies fully on the writer and director.
The cast is solid and worked hard, but the writing and direction are so weak that the actors’ efforts are dragged down. And why on earth make both the leads so unlikable: why would audiences enjoy that. Looks like most didn’t.
The cast is very good, likable, and works hard. They are why I finished watching . Unfortunately, the writing and direction are not as effective as the casts’ talents, and we are left with a series as uneven and bogged down in places as the script itself leaves them. The actors deserved better.
I have completed the 4 first episodes thus far. The actors are doing their best and have given us some good scenes. But the writing will have to dramatically improve because right now this series doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be—especially regarding both leads. If it doesn’t get clarified and developed they’ll ruin what could be a charming series.
This delightful and challenging Korean medical drama became one of my favorite film series, and I look forward to the promised new seasons. The cast is beautiful and richly talented as well as funny, too. And that’s not easy to pull off. The writing and direction are spot on in pulling together a storyline that keeps us on our toes. I rarely give a 10, but I loved this series from start to finish.
One of the most beautiful and talented of actors who it seems read the Korean drama scene early in his career and decided to leave it. He must be so broken-hearted over his co-star’s tragic death this week.
My heart breaks for this beautiful, gifted actress I have loved since I saw “The Man from Nowhere” and ever since watched several times. When I look into her face in all the photos this week, I see that brave, scrappy little girl in her debut. She needed help, and if she was getting it, she needed more. I am so sorry.
