"the action could be considered instinctive self-defense". It's happened to me several times over the…
They are not true fans if they file a complaint, just selfish schemers out for money and self justification. If someone shoved a phone up in my face I would knock it away too - just like a fly or a bug. Mr. Wang has every right to protect himself from over zealous fans and malicious photographers. Those people should get a grip on reality and stop fantasizing after the show is over.
I watched 3 episodes and then checked the ratings here. I was surprised at how bad the comments were so I skipped to the the last episode. Without spoiling it, I will say that I can understand everyone's angst. But I gave it a 7/10 because, although I will probably not go back and watch the whole thing, from what I have watched the acting was good and there were some enjoyable scenes.
After 8/12 episodes I dropped this one. Not because of the actors but the story and plot issues that really bugged me. Firstly, Kang Si Yeol was a talented soccer player with abilities that made him a star, yet after her switcheroo he became a jellyfish (no backbone) and followed the fox around aimlessly to get his life back. He should have dumped her in 'it' and got on with earning his place back and let her sort her own life out as punishment for her wrongdoings. Secondly, the fox had no business interfering in his life to begin with except that she wanted to use his fame and money to support her already lavish lifestyle, then she continues to use him because she can't handle being human and he just takes all her abuse. The episode where they go shopping together just doesn't make sense after having to walk for miles because they have no money to pay for fuel or call a cab, yet he has a credit card suddenly that he can let her spend frivolously. Maybe I expect there should be equality in every relationship, her strengths/his weaknesses and his strength/her weaknesses are worked through to the point of complimenting each other. But so far all I've seen is a domineering, narcissist FL with zero growth or repentance and a ML who goes from being smart, talented and fearless to a sop (Oxenford language definition). It could have been less annoying had they been passionate about each other but the chemistry was lacking also. I gave it a 7/10 in kindness to the actors who worked hard despite what I think of the story and in case anyone thinks I'm being too harsh.
I loved the concept of this show with the modern day royalty, steeped in tradition and trying to maintain it's image in a modern world. That part of it was thoughtfully executed, however it was lacking in some ways too. It was interesting but it could have been so much better if: - Could have been 20 ep. There was lots of unnecessary standing/thinking/moping/fail comical scenes from the princess' family and filler. - More scenes when the princess' bright, energetic and 'low class' antics had some impact on the palace etiquette and outdated traditions. The opportunity for some real comic moments wasted. - Very little character growth. The relationship between the main characters does not really deepen and mature. This show first aired 20 years ago (older than the main characters) but I loved the early 2000's vibe and it is still an interesting show with many positive points as well. Worth watching.
Just one thing... when the girl hiding as a eunuch is wearing more makeup than the consort, you're not hiding...…
Agreed, even if makeup is required under lights for filming at least make it look natural. That makeup would suit a character from the city's brothel, not someone disguised as a young male eunuch.
This series is much like a great book that will always have a special place on the shelf. It weaves together a tale of love, warring states, friendships, betrayals, enemies, greed and retribution in a thoughtful sequence of events that keeps you watching to the end. I could pick holes in the production enough to make a sieve, however, early on in the episodes I decided that since the series originally aired 20 years ago I should accept that the show could be considered historical in itself. It was easier to watch with that mindset and I even got to chuckle at some of the more ridiculous production shortfalls. The historical sets, costumes and beautiful scenery used in the filming were a big positive and added to the charm. Well worth watching. I viewed this on Kocowa for anyone looking.
Since the guy who wants to marry the FL isn't in love with her, but rather he is covering up his preferred relationship status, then the answer would technically be 'no' there is no love triangle.
Like others I was annoyed by the FL's prejudice and berating of the ML every chance she got, however if you stick it out to maybe ep 31, the show starts to improve dramatically and the ending is pretty good. Overall I really enjoyed this show. Sets and costumes were stunning, cast was great and performed so well and the story was outside the box and took many interesting turns. Totally recommend it.
I thought this was a great drama and it inspired me to read the history of King Seon Jo, which probably wasn't a great idea half way through a retelling. However, the acting was very good from all the cast and the series does end on a high note. I especially enjoyed the performances of Lee Sung Jae, a paranoid king, fearful of public sentiment and subsequent poor decision maker, and also Seo In Guk playing Prince Gwang Hae. I find fault with the character Ga Hee. It seems that the writer wanted a character that could be in every scene and somehow tie everything together, but her alliances kept changing and in every crucial moment her mouth was stuck shut. I would have liked to see more of Kim Hee Jung, playing Gwang Hae's wife. I felt very sorry for her character. They gave her a loving and supportive role which then made Gwang Hae a douche for not caring. As a love interest Ga Hee failed to inspire and I was left wondering why her character was placed in that role. I do think this show worth watching for the historical and political sub plots and talented cast.
Rather ironic that Princess Rou Jia mirrors the person she hated the most, Empress Dowager Zhou. A little murder here, a little murder there... 30,000+ dead people later - "why won't he just die!". Zhuo Hua : "Oh look!, a cute crown prince" Nah! I pick the sour-face old prince who's the same age as my dad".
I really enjoyed this. The acting was engaging, costumes and sets were stunning and story was very interesting. It wasn't a perfect story but that is because it is historical and not just a romantic view of what life should have been like in ancient times. The women were all scheming and hateful but each of them has a back story and a desperate need to survive. The men were also imperfect, ambitious and self serving. Even though Hao Lan is treated as the heroine in this story, she is just as ruthless and uses people for the good of her beliefs. This is not a romance, or a drama where the good people win and justice is served and you will be disappointed if you watch it with those expectations in mind. The characters will enthrall you one minute and frustrate you to death the next. You will love them then hate them or despise them then feel sorry for them. A rollercoaster for sure, but worth watching.
Hello! It's available on YouTube! https://youtu.be/CesRpsLUyc0?si=kDTi-llIRDv1GD51
Hello! Thank you for your link. Unfortunately I still get the message "The uploader has not made this video available in your country". I will continue to keep an eye open if it does come available. 😊
How many blood-bags were harmed in the making of this film? Luo Yun Xi should win an award for how many times an actor can spit blood in the making of one episode😁. But in all honesty, he should win many more awards for his brilliant acting in all areas of this production. All the cast were great. This is one of the best fantasy wuxia dramas I have seen in a while. Love conquers all - Loved it!
Just fyi if you are looking for this movie on Viki, you will only find the animated series, at least in my region. The animated version is 26 episodes long and beautifully and artfully made. I rarely if ever choose to watch anime but this one caught my eye and I was spellbound. I would love to see the movie version of course. If it is still available on any other platforms I'd love to know.
Stunning! I fell in love with the chicken and the god Xing Zhi from the beginning and had to see their story through to the end. I was not disappointed with any aspect of this drama.
Lots of intrigue that keeps you guessing. Not everything the main character does ends perfectly which makes it believable. I enjoyed watching Xiao Zhan, he always delivers 100%. Fantasy genre, no particular dynasty or time period, so liberties can be taken with rulers and their offspring. Enjoyable start to finish!
Although this is released after Guardians of the Dafeng, the timeline for this spinoff would have be towards the beginning of the series or at least when the character 'Yang Qian Huan' starts appearing with his back to everyone. Using Qian Huan's example, the girl 'He Hua' breaks free of a fate that is determined by others and choses to continue his legacy by helping the Guardians in his place. Guardians of the Dafeng is a must to watch for this spinoff to make sense.
