Yes, there is some romance as sub plot. Fl is good at fighting & even help ml. There is some fluff too but it's not heavily focused on romance but revenge is the main goal.

Other than some toxic delulu shippers ( which are really small in number), most of xz fans (especially xz's large number of non shipper fans) don't hate fl. It depends on story & chemistry and viewers preference of romance type. A large number of fans and casual drama watchers loved ool, the youth memories fl & legend of Zhang hai too. There are also some people I saw became international xz fans after watching longest promise where they loved story & fl. Every drama is different so it attracts different kind of people. But international viewers or mostly mdl watchers what I observed is that they especially don't like weak or childish fl. Fl who causes ml trouble is hated a lot in mdl for all kinds of dramas of every celebs. It seems like strong, non troublesome fl are more preferred here. That's why whenever fl acts a little bit naive, innocent or childish, comments of negativity will flow. Also mdl watchers are more harsh on fl than ml is what I see & it’s not on xz page but on every chinese actors or actresses drama page I see this. It seems like casual mdl drama watchers are like this. BTW seems like china have audience that like innocent, a little bit childish fl. That's why this drama was quite popular in china. It was in third place in average episode views during the popular broadcast period of tencent in 2023. So it was in 3rd place of tencent dramas in 2023.

There is romance but It's not main focus. Main focus is on revenge.

There is romance but as a sub plot. Zhang jing yi won't have much presence in earlier episodes but later episodes her time will increase. Also she is a good fighter who later will help ml. She'll be a strong woman here.

This is ancient time. You know in that time emperors would kill an entire family including children when only father committed the crime. It was a brutal time. So, here when the marquis wanted the seal, he would kill the entire family regardless of whether the seal was given or not to get rid of evidence. Since they were destined to die anyway so that's why the father didn’t give the seal because why fulfill villains wish when you are going to die no matter what you do. So it's not absurd but logical decision for him. Later chapters you will see the villains are merciless, they kill innocent people for simple things. Ml father & family had no chance to survive.

There are always many rumors of his next drama but most are fake. Since XZ just started shooting his new drama spying, rumors of next work now won't be believable. After his shooting for spying finishes then we can judge the rumors & mostly that time xz will choose the next work so rumours will have more chance of becoming true then.

Don't listen to antis, they are crazy & sometimes even illiterate as they can't even read actual data evidence or maybe don't want to understand intentionally. They can just go to chinese data sites themselves & will see that zhang hai is topping all charts. But anyway when you want to lie to yourself all evidence will be nothing. I suspect there will be a lot of new antis comment here calling the drama bad & downrating now since we showed the real evidence & shattered their illusion. Ignore them & focus on the drama. The success of this drama will bring reputation & profit to the actors & actesses of the drama & that's what matter most as they worked hard to deliver this amazing drama. No matter how much they spread lie, it won't change the actual benefit to the zhang hai casts & their lie won't bring any benefit to their fave anyway, it will just create a false illusion to their fans to brag about nothing else. Zhang hai is getting attention from some high level general public & older males too. Taiwanese politics & current affairs commentator watching zhang hai & recommending it to others & some CEO of entertainment also recommended it too.

These shows that Zhang hai is doing very well both in china & internationally & hopefully it will be even more recognized later as the drama is good.

If they are dissing LOZH on their drama page, then it shows their low level mentality. Why are they not focusing on their own drama but spending time dissing other dramas. Seriously data exist no matter how much u diss or spread rumors of this drama not successful but it won't change the actual result of it toping all charts. In this page we are not even comparing with others or dissing other dramas despite we could brag more as it is in first place in all charts in china. We are mature & I really like this drama page fans, not toxic like others. We don't even talk about data, mostly talk about plot & enjoy ourselves.

Zhang hai was alone first. But now he is creating his own network. He can't fight with such powerful people alone even if he risks his life. So we'll see how from being ordinary & alone, Zhang hai build his own trusted aide who'll help him in revenge.

Xfx don't counter false rumors much now because a large number of them are adults, have job or family, they are busy not like some other actors fans who are mostly school kids or teenagers with time to create rumors, hate on others, downvoting drama. Recently I have seen some antis in X but I ignore them as I'm busy with life. Since 2023, I have seen some cy fans badmouthing xz in mdl when most xfx didn't even know their fave. It started because yz had drama with both so in order to elevate their own drama couple chemistry, I saw them badmouthing xz as his drama with yz aired before them. Seriously after that they have been continuously provoking not only xz but many fandom. Heard they had a big fight with dylan wang fandom too. Anyway before xz drama even broadcast their drama was always bundling with xz drama which is a nasty pr tactic from them. Not any drama of xz ever bundled with other dramas & most of his drama even aired suddenly without promotion on the same day before. XZ's popularity is large not to mention 4 of his drama aired on CCTV with good ratings. XZ's doing movie, next drama is with daylight production & he has huge following, luxuary brands global ambassador. His new music album sale is in top 1 place among other singers & despite all these xz is the most low key person, never attend any variety show to increase popularity or stay hidden for months when filming. He isn't even concerned with traffic now as he is focusing on becoming serious actor. For last two years, he is choosing all serious works not idol drama or teenage romance type. So how some cy fans have the idea that super popular xz's drama with famous director zheng xiaolong airing on china's national television CCTV is playing nasty with their online drama is beyond me where the rating system for tv & online drama vastly differs so mostly people don't compare them much too.

It is his early work, one of the first drama since starting his acting career. Before untamed xz only had 3 drama aired in two of which he was support or 2nd ml role. XZ debuted as idol in xnine boyband in late 2016, first he got popular as 3rd male lead in oh! My emperor then in 2019, 3 years of his debut with untamed got even more popular. Though even as a newbie with no acting background he was still good in untamed as he is a method actor. That's why he got popular with his touching method acting. But with time xz improved his acting skill more, he even acted in theatre. So now recent xz works, his acting is amazing, on the path to be a great actor. It’s good that he is always improving as there is no stop in improving even if you are good, you can be even better. With this drama we are certainly seeing that.

Some are suggesting untamed for you to check out as untamed is a drama based on mystery, adventure type. But untamed was xiao zhan's one of the first dramas in his career. His acting has improved greatly after that. So I'll suggest more recent work of his. The Youth Memories is a drama I loved most. His acting in there was remarkable. It's a period drama highlighting life struggles. A very good & engaging drama & got good TV rating. His recent legend of condor heroes: the gallants movie also shows his acting range. Also he is currently filming a new spy drama with daylight production called spying. It's seems to be a good drama to look forward to next year.

But in joy of life xz was just a support cast there for only few episodes. If one want to know xz, it’s better to watch other dramas where xz is the main lead.

There is romance as subplot. But since main focus is on revenge so maybe it was not tagged here. Still I think it would be better if mdl included romance though it's not main focus.

All xz dramas suffer from these antis. They come in number to rate low both in mdl & douban. Just ignore those losers.
