That's what I wanted to hear. I'm reading so many mixed opinions about it, but the synopsis already gave me some…
This is exactly why it felt similar to me (at least in the first 2 eps). Later on, it differs quite a bit but I feel like some little quirks stay the same. If it wouldn’t have been about the super power and kept on going with fate / bad or good luck the vibes would’ve kept going (in my opinion).
First of all, I kind of wondered if I watched a different version than everyone else, cause I felt like the plot…
1. The ending was very unsatisfying for me, cause yes, the couple stayed together, but on what grounds? Their dynamic throughout the whole drama based on a smart but weak FL and a strong ML. In the end, ML gave all his power to FL, so basically, their main foundation was taken away. Now, she’s smart and strong and he is…? The dumb and useless sidekick? To me, that makes no sense at all and was just disappointing all over. It ruined the whole drama for me,
2. First kiss is in ep 31. So close to the end, they could just make it a friendship drama.. -_- (by the way, there where 2 kisses, one initiated by ML, which was kind of ok, and one by FL, which was just her making a horrible duckface. It seriously was one of the worst kisses I ever watched, worse than the dead fish kisses 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️)
First of all, I kind of wondered if I watched a different version than everyone else, cause I felt like the plot wrapped up nicely, all (important) open ends were cleared up.
Nonetheless, I was dissatisfied with the ending because of.. (spoiler below 1. )
Also, if you’re here for romance, better look somewhere else. Most of the time it feels more like a brother sister kind of relationship than anything else. Best evidence to show you the lack of progress: Time of first kiss (see spoiler below 2.)
Overall, I still watched till the end, cause the basic plot line was really interesting and it got charming characters.
I just started to watch, but obviously it seems to be the kind of drama where ML is the perfect prince on a white horse, able to do 3 careers at once (cooking, voice actor and oh of course, a doctor 🙄 I bet anything else he needs to do in the progress of this show won’t be a problem for him as well)
I feel like this drama is based on two very pretty people (their handsomeness is over worldly) having their happy teenage first love? Correct me if I’m wrong.. but I just wonder if there will be anything dramatic like happen in this show? 😅 Otherwise, for me, it feels more like a promotion of Chinese culture (which isn’t wrong but just a bit boring for my own personal taste..)
The plot was really interesting, so much so that I actually watched to the end just for that reason.
In terms of romance, however, the series is a complete disappointment in my opinion. Half the time FL behaves like a toddler (by god, in one scene she’s even sucking her thumb 🤦♂️ ). Then you get a few surprisingly hot scenes as teasers and then nothing for years... it's just frustrating. No chemistry, not really comprehensible relationship building.
Another criticism that really bothered me: Important plot parts are just ignored. FL wonders if ML is really evil or if she got it all wrong without including the fact that ML just mercilessly stabs her at the start of the series. Another example: The plot around the princess from Nan... whatever. First they build up a misunderstanding around the fishtoken and then they just completely disregard it and act like the plot line around SFL never existed.
Nonetheless, I totally get why everyone craves for a season 2 now. I would love to see a continuation of the story set in present time ❤️
This is a masterpiece! And honestly, I don’t get why so many people are confused about the ending? (I tried…
I would say the theme of the show is second chances.
Basically, it's about the following: Myung Ha (29 years old) impulsively decides to take his own life after his grandmother died, his girlfriend left him, he has no friends in life and his mother pretends she doesn't know him. Before he died, he wished he had someone who would stay by his side, support him and love him. (You see this part towards the end of the show, the shooting star scene, where you also see what happened in his ‘first life’)
The show begins with the aftermath of the wish. He's sitting in a bar (after he died) talking to fate (I assume). He's depressed about life, talks about how everything is pre-written by Fate and that you can't change anything no matter what happens. Fate (the author) asks him if he could make the story better if he had the chance, and tells him about the plans for a new game version where the player can make decisions and choose a path. (He sort of bets Myung Ha if he could come to a better ending if he were the player) Overall, I think this part of the series represents how some things in life are given (the game's mission), but how you can decide what to do with them.
Anyway, in the end, Myung Ha's main goal becomes to make Yeo Woon happy because he fell in love with him. He really wants Yeo Woon to be happy and after he tried so hard, thought the only way remaining would be to make Yeo Woon the author / main character (the first thing he writes: Yeo Woon, author). But this makes his own role in the story unnecessary and he himself and the memories of him are erased. Luckily, a few things remain and so he is later rediscovered and Yeo Woon finds his notes about the game (which Myung Ha used to write in the little book) and he finds the author's pen which he uses to wish Myung Ha a happy life (it's love, they just want happiness for the person they love 😭 ) Therefore, Myung Ha comes back to the world where he was still 19 and gets his second chance at a happy life ❤️ (His wish became true, Yeo Woon was the person supporting him til the end..)
(Please don't take my bad English into consideration. This is my interpretation of the show, maybe it helps to enlighten a few things)
