Spent a month binge watching all 24 of Hongs's currently released features in release order. From "The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well" all the way to "The Woman Who Ran"

Much of Hong's later work is very good. Some notable favorites of mine that he produced during the 2010's are Hotel by the River, The Day After, Yourself and Yours, Nobody's Daughter Haewon, and The Day He Arrives.

But my absolute favorite Hong films are his earlier works. His first 6 films or so are simply amazing. My top 3 Hong films are probably Turning Gate, Night and Day, and Tale of Cinema.

Love this film.
Wish it was only about the father and sons because the girls add nothing to the film. Very elegiac and probably the first time I've noticed Hong use a handheld camera for shots.

This film was great in my opinion, especially after his last film Claire's Camera which I thought was a very poor film. I love the way past and present events are told in a seamless manner and you have to really think about what point in time things are happening. There's a scene where violence erupts and I was totally hooked on the film after that.

I first saw him in the film Believer, but I didn't really pay attention to who he was at the time. Some years later I watched Argon and Yourself and Yours and he really stood out in those roles, especially Argon.

He was a talented actor and I still think about his performances today. Rest in peace

Lee Sun Kyun is absolutely legendary for being in two really good projects: My Mister and Parasite. No joke, nowadays I'm genuinely interested whenever I come across a film or show that he's in

DO YOU SEE THE DURATION ??
It's a four hour film, but it flies by pretty quick trust me. I've seen it once already and I plan on seeing it again when I do my marathon of Edward Yang films.

He's earned my respect. It's very rare to see Korean actors stay within the realm of film and not alternate between television and movie roles. He's clearly very selective with his roles and I'm sure he turned down alot of money to be avoid being on TV dramas.

I love this show. My only complaint is that it takes 5-6 episodes for the show to hit its stride

The bulk of the show was about courtroom cases. You got to see the characters in their private lives sometimes and there's some romance, but the show is mainly about the courtroom and trials.

The female lead is really preppy at first. I think it took about 6 episodes for the FL to calm down a bit and start acting kind of serious. Once that happens, the ML becomes more outgoing with the FL and the show really starts to build on the relationships of all the leads. You start to get a glimpse of the lives and struggles of all the lead characters and the last couple of episodes really hits hard with all the relationships paying off.

Really wish their were more than 16 episodes, but the journey was great nonetheless and I felt satisfied by the ending.

First saw him in the film Believer, then in Jo Pil Ho: The Dawning Rage.

I eventually started watching K-dramas recently and was pleasantly surprised when I watched Misaeng and My Mister consecutively and this guy had a role in both dramas.

Just finished this show. Absolutely amazing.

American cable television is usually cheesy, poorly written soap opera fluff and I was worried this remake would be just cheesy as well. But the writing is extremely well done and the production values of this show are top notch. Korean dramas are truly top tier entertainment and this show puts many Western shows to shame

I liked this film, not too bad and its a great crime thriller.

The 3 main leads have great performances and I liked the cinematography and visuals.

This film is a great action movie, but if you think too hard about it or want something deeper out of it, then you kinda start to see the shortcomings of the film. There are some parts where you wish the main characters did more or there's no logic to some characters' actions or motivations. Even I have to admit the writer could've done a better job with some aspects of the film. But this is still a great crime thriller that I would've paid to see in theaters just for kicks.
