No joke, My Mister is probably my second or third all time favorite Kdrama. I hope people will continue to revisit this drama fondly with the passing of Mr. Lee Sun Kyun. Korean news media, social media, and cancel culture be damned for what they did to the man, he didn't deserve the level of scrutiny and hate over his personal life
Lee Sun Kyun had an amazing screen presence. His voice was unmistakable and you just knew he was an actor to follow and respect. I'm gonna be going on a retrospective and try to rewatch all the shows and films he starred in
I have so much respect for this man. He was one of the few actors I followed whenever he did a movie or drama. The police and media are to blame for his death by dragging him through the mud and viciously attacking him about his private life
Ha Jung Woo is probably in my top 3 Korean male actors of all time. Been loving his performance in this dramaBut…
Gonna give this a 7.5/10 if I'm being honest
I like many of the actors on this show, namely Ha Jung Woo, Chang Chen, and Park Hae Soo. But the action isn't grounded enough for my taste. The shootouts are unrealistic, henchman have infinite ammo, and some characters die in a way that's more comical and outlandish rather than realistic and believable. The dialogue is also pretty mid. Juggling between Korean, English, Dutch, Spanish, and Chinese must be difficult and not everyone speaks in a convincing manner with all the accents.
I think if this show was darker, grittier, and more grounded in realism, it would raise the stakes and make for better drama. Show us more of their families and give us deeper and more personal conversations. Make the violence brutal and more grounded so that I actually feel more tension and believe the main character is about to be shot in the head or something

But I'm on episode 4 and I honestly I'm having a hard time finishing this drama. I think it's the mix of foreign and international languages being used and the poorly done accents. I really wish they would stick to speaking Korean because anytime anybody says anything in Dutch, Spanish, or English it just sounds weird and off-putting
Finished all 16 episodes. Overall I'd honestly give it an 8-8.5/10.
Tonally, it's the kind of show that I like. It's similar to My Mister or My Liberation Notes in terms of tone and pacing I think. It's understated and melancholic and I like that aspect of it. I also like that the ending tries to wrap everything together nicely for everyone, which made me feel better by the end of the show
Unfortunately, I spent so much of the show hating the male and female leads for being toxic assholes. I get that the writers are saying that you can't choose what your heart desires. But it pisses me off that the leads felt they were destined for each other and had to drag everyone else down when they couldn't be open and honest about their relationship
10 episodes in. I generally like the tone of this show. It's slow and understated without too much over-the-top comedy and gags like My Mister and My Liberation Notes, which are shows I like
However, I'm really hating the ML and FL. I feel sorry for the 2nd FL for putting up with some serious bullshit by the 1st ML.
1st ML and 1st female lead are toxic assholes. Both are stringing along the 2nd ML and 2FL and it really grinds my gears
This drama is pretty damn good because of the slice of life/school life stuff which is great. It's just the crime thriller stuff that I hate about this show and brings it down. The stakes are waaaay too over the top. The types of crimes depicted near the end are just absurd for a bunch of university students to be tackling. There's even the typical evil CEO/chairman trope where he's so blatantly psychopathic he comes across as a caricature
Besides that, this show is really good. Live is still the better drama about cops and police life though
This show is such a mood. I'm halfway through and I'm loving every minute of it. The tone of this show is so melancholic like My Mister and its exactly what I'm looking for
Just finished it. Shin Ha Kyun deserves the award he got for this show. Lee Dong Shik is a really interesting and unpredictable character. The "Munju Avengers" part was probably one of the highlights of the show for me
Unfortunately, this show doesn't live up to its title "Beyond Evil." I was expecting a horrific and sociopathic serial killer where the characters (as well as us viewers) would have trouble understanding how depraved and evil he was. We got a little bit of that in the first half of the show, but the second half of the show basically became Itaewon Class with a corrupt chairman everone tries to take down.
Pacing was also wildly inconsistent. First half of the show, events would unfold day-by-day. Second half, days would fly by in an instant and the plot was moving at a breakneck speed. Seemed like a show that should've been two seasons was crammed into just 16 episodes.
Still, by the end of the show I was thrilled by all the surprises and twists. Acting was great and I liked the cast of characters.
8 episodes into this show. Liking it now that the pace has picked up and more information is revealed, but the…
On episode 12 now. Acting is top-notch. Lee Dong-Sik is a really interesting character. Kinda wish there was some romance with the butcher shop owner. The pacing is also insanely quick. The first half of the show moved slowly and deliberately. The second half of the show, characters breeze back and forth between locations and conversations are basically all about the investigation and happen at a brisk pace
Biggest disappointment so far though is that the show is veering into "evil CEO's and politicians" territory like Itaewon Class or something. I was expecting an unimaginably horrific serial killer who's a complete sociopath with disturbing tendencies and fetishes. We got a little bit of that but the endgame of the show seems to be pointing towards a conspiracy with a bunch of rich people.
8 episodes into this show. Liking it now that the pace has picked up and more information is revealed, but the first couple of episodes threw me off a bit. Was expecting more teamwork between the two leads at the start but that doesn't happen right away. Instead, there's alot of finger pointing and misdirection amongst the small cast of characters in the show, which I thought detracts from the actual plot of finding the real serial killer
Misaeng is the GOAT. Top-tier writing and character development.
The sequence late in the show where all the newbies and Mr. Oh meet in a hotel room on a weekend to do work is probably the most standout part of the show for me. Having most of the supporting cast get together and the teamwork that goes on in that sequence is heartwarming and inspiring
Also, the parts where the ML shows he's competent and he's recognized for his work like the Jordan presentation are awesome.
Did not expect a Korean spinoff to an American network TV show to be an absolute banger. But Designated Survivor is an absolute banger. One of the best politcal dramas I've seen. Kind of like Misaeng, its a show that makes you root for the inexperienced underdog
