Shocking! 😱 Someone will get fired for that. It's really only Netflix that has been dogmatic about the nasty…
As far as I've been able to tell Prime are inconsistent and don't care where they get their subs (they even have hardsubs of unknown origin on some productions) but there's so little Asian content that I don't have much of a sample, plus I've cancelled it and can't check anymore.

Disney+/Hulu doesn't seem to have a firm standard. Hulu often sourced subs from Viki, which generally retains the correct order. What drives me nuts on Disney is not the name order as much as that every new English sub track is SDH only.

Something I noticed while watching this on Netflix - they translate the names using the Japanese convention. Kinda…
Shocking! 😱 Someone will get fired for that.

It's really only Netflix that has been dogmatic about the nasty habit of reversing names.

Tbh the let down of this season is the case. Personally best case so far is still the movie Suspect X. I don't…
That is pretty much my assessment of this series. I like Shibasaki Kou better when she is *not* crushing on the ML and I like Yoshitaka Yuriko more when she *is.* They're very different actors but in the context of this drama they're six of one and half a dozen of the other.

The notable flaw was the plot writing. Most of these cases looked like thought experiments designed to fit the characters and were not believable. Maybe they were better as books than they were as TV episodes.

Where can I see it sub in Spanish?
Nobody has translated it into Spanish. Aún no hay subtítulos en español.

It's so cute it gave me diabetes. It's also a blatant promo job and acted with more sincerity than skill.

I still can't hate it. It would be like hating a kitten.

so the seasons netflix dropped are this one and the 2006 one? confused since it just says 2006 as date on netflix
Just a difference in content organization. Japanese TV doesn't generally plan for multiple seasons so the 2006 sequel is a separate production and was named "2006" from the start. MDL follows that. Netflix licensed them together and they have continuity so it makes sense to list them as "seasons" in the American style.

Title Orange Days
Overall a memorable old-school slice-of-life drama with believable characters. The ending, though, that is the whole last two episodes, was some really *messy* writing.

It's the type of drama with episodic cases where these cases occupied the majority of its run, however, half of…
Considering that there are 16 years between this drama's release and your review, other productions have had time to raise the bar. Is your assessment based on 2024 expectations or on the state of things when this drama was released? Do you believe that it didn't age well or that it was so-so to start with?

Only good person in Na family was Hae Joon. But in the end all of them got happy endings.
Thanks for the giant spoiler. Loser.

The missing season 1 ep 4. I shouldn't be doing this but really, WTF Netflix. No respect for the viewers watching JP content.

There’s serial killers in Love next door?!
No murderers in LND, thankfully. Just enough melo to see me through the rest of the year. 20 hours was *way* too long for it. Other recent dramas like DNA Lover and Doctor Slump weren't that lucky and got murders.

One day I'll make a K-drama bingo card with the worst tropes.

ooh there’s s2? Looking forward to this show on Netflix. 😁
It doesn't show an episode count but promises us unspecified "seasons" in the plural. I guess we get 2006 as well but would not be so optimistic as to expect 2022 on top of that.

Title A Muse
It was first on the suggestion list on Tubi. I didn't read the plot too closely.

I saw more of Kim Go-eun (age 20) than I expected to and all of it was more impressive than the plot, which looked a lot like they recycled something French from the last century like, say, Noce Blanche. In a way it was reassuring to see that she can play a real woman because I haven't seen her recent work and found her presence in Goblin irritatingly asexual.
On You Drive Me Crazy Feb 4, 2025
Dear Producers,

If Love Next Door had stripped down to two hours like this I'd probably have loved it (It did not and I did not). You did very well with the usual K-drama romance traps:

No bloated writing full of tangential fillers
No tragic backstory
No violent or drunk parents
Nobody's ex gets punched in the face
Nobody gets an incurable disease
Nobody is scammed
Nobody gets arrested
No loan sharks
NO SERIAL KILLER!

But you just couldn't help yourselves with the effing time skip.

8.5 but you could have had more.

EDITED TO CLARIFY THAT JUST BECAUSE I MENTIONED LND BY NAME I AM NOT ACCUSING IT OF HAVING ***ALL*** THOSE TROPES, INCLUDING SERIAL KILLERS. LND MAY HAVE THREE HOURS OF UNNECESSARY MELO AND IT MAY BE EIGHT HOURS TOO LONG (WHICH IS WHY I BROUGHT IT UP AS AN EXAMPLE) BUT IT HAS NO SERIAL KILLERS.

Where can I watch this? (Not available on VIKI in my region :(
Yeah, looks like it's North and South America only on Viki. A good VPN in those regions might help.

The following link is not mine and will probably expire at some point so please (everyone six months in the future) don't reply asking me for a new one:
