There are plenty BL with male antagonists...just sayin🤷
I don't want to burst your bubble but you do realise what the origin of BL is.
We are talking about FEMALE authors writing romance stories about male couples for FEMALE audience (shonen-ai/yaoi/bl). This way the female audience could disassociate themselves from the main characters while still having a somewhat heteronormativ experience (gender roles within couples/feminine and masculine features displayed in different characters etc.)
BL is more "discriminating" against gay people than women.
Of course there are always exceptions and not every show or story is the same and I don't want to generalise.
As for the 1%...the math ain't mathing...you would need in a show 99 male characters and 1 female to get to 1%. I know it was hyperbolic but still. As you said of course there will be more male characters than female however I would personally disagree that most of them are portrayed as evil. For every evil female character I think of, I can also think of a good female character, even within the same show sometimes.
I can sympathize with the feeling that a lot of tropes and character traits are overused and outdated. But I don't see them completely changing in the near future.
I always remind myself that BL is not a gay genre but a fantasy genre created by and for women.
Y'all being real hard on Phu...yes it was shitty of him to just disappear without saying anything. But Nan made it clear that friends can't be lovers. So maybe him leaving was his way of dealing with the rejection that would have happened in his eyes if he confessed. He thought that if he confessed they wouldn't even be able to be friends anymore. Never underestimate doubt. Even the slightest bit of doubt or insecurity can take over and suppress any hope or wishful thinking you might have.
So even if I might be the only one I have quite some compassion for Phu.
this is so wholesome. I love it. But that last sentence....The way I rolled my eyes and said "not that shit again" please don't let it be THAT trope because I am so sick of it
me being nitpicky: it's hella convenient that there is a security camera in someone's office without their knowledge, which is recording and can be accessed by anybody apparently🤷
why is the FL so annoying....she has zero social awareness and is super arrogant because of her strength.
please tell me if it stays this way for the whole show?
Here is a great site with all the links and information to most currently running BL shows including running time
https://world-of-bl.com/index.php/Main/HomePage
I use this all the time😁
-> that would be 8 episodes with 30min each
