I do see your point, but as an actual parent sometimes you need a break too. Although in this drama, it focuses more on the FL/ML relationship rather than the ML/daughter one. I’m giving him grace because he did devote a year to take of his daughter one overnight is nothing.
I know this is a makjang/Sageuk series but can we please have an episode were no one cries or dies? I just want happy moments from the ML and FL, man they just can’t catch a break. I hope the villain doesn’t show up until the last 15 minutes of the episode next week.
This series feels like it’s on 4x speed, everything happens quickly and it seems it moves on a whole different storyline with each episode. There is the beginning, problem, climax, and end at each episode. It even does several time jumps that seems so seamless yet dizzyingly quick for a sageuk. I’m just so used the slow, even boring filler episodes of other historical dramas, I am enjoying the speed of it. Just hope they can keep the momentum going.

It’s not widely accessible, if it was on Netflix or Viki, it will gain a lot fans. In the U.S., you can watch it on Kocowa and not everyone has account for it.
I’m now invested in this drama! I can’t wait for the next episode to drop next week. I’m torn between rooting for the ML and SML. I know it’s a cliche but I am loving the plot so far.

I actually love Yumi in Jinny’s kitchen but I think romcoms are not for her. I feel for both ML and FL there’s a certain lack of sincerity in their expressions like they are no longer feeling it. While the younger versions have more believable acting, I wish they kept them as main leads and instead of a long time skip maybe after 5 years they meet again.
I know it probably has a different plot but it really reminds of the secret romantic guesthouse. Kind of boring for the beginning but I will watch it until episode 4. Hopefully it wil be good.

You probably don’t watch a lot of historical dramas but most of these Sageuk dramas are slow going in the beginning, compared to others that I have finished and dropped this quite fast paced for the setting. I watched one before that the romance between the leads didn’t really happen until the final episode. So yeah if you compare it to modern setting dramas it can be a bit slow but for its genre it is pretty fast-paced. Try watching a Chinese historical drama that’s 40 episodes long.
I honestly love the FL character, and I was initially rooting for the storyteller now I am rooting for her with the Magistrate’s son. ML is really pulling his weight in this drama, doing the twin thing can be taxing keeping the two separate identities in order.
though don’t get released until later in the day.
