Pretty much one of the top actors in terms of popularity, but he isn't professionally trained (didn't graduate…
You brought up a really good point about him being discriminated. My take: He has the talent and the gift and he has been training hard on the job. He shares often how he observes human nature, and people who worked with him attest to how much he studied and analyse his characters.
Those that hold out against him for not having gone to acting school are just snobs. In this day and age, there are multiple paths to acquire knowledge and skills. Don't understand why some are still holding on to archaic views on training/learning.
In fact his prior training in another field, his business experience added more depth, richness and dimensionality to his acting. It is a trove of experiences he can use to relate to acting.

At this point in time, what he needed wasn't her, he has to work things out himself, and she was emotionally excluded. At the same time, he still wanted to protect her, and not burden her. She couldn't have understood all that, so she was really very hurt.
If Gu Wei can first overcome this knock-out punch (everything that he worked for fell apart in an instant), then it will take a huge effort on his part to gain back LZX's trust.

This is not just any romantic comedy, this is a romantic comedy with depth (echoes reality and its implications).
