I'm going to come in with a little bit of a different perspective on the whole Zo and Zo's mom thing.
I know a lot of people are demonizing the woman but here is the way I see it. Zo said himself that he wants to win for his mom, it's not something being forced upon him. Sure, he feels pressure over it but he made the choice for himself that he wants to get praise for winning. At no point in time did he communicate that he didn't want to win to his mom, or even communicate that he doesn't want to do debate because we know that he likes debate. He wants to win, his mom wants him to win, so she tries to tutor him to improve. Her tutoring methods look just fine to me, she gave him good pointers and didn't yell or get super heated or anything with him. Zo seemed to not want to take the tutoring seriously so it confuses me a little bit. Does he want to get better at debate or does he not? You can't get better if you constantly brush off the advice you're giving, especially when it's very constructive criticism. Zo's mom is obviously under pressure herself, feeling like she has to be a perfect teacher at all times. She holds her position dearly, as she mentioned how hard it is for a woman to be in her position and how hard she worked to get there. She is afraid that she cannot continue living up to the standards other people and she herself is setting for her. That includes her own son, as she is afraid that people will think that she isn't a good enough teacher if Zo doesn't do well himself. But in her mind, Zo wants to do better and she's trying to help him. I'm not sure if there is a disconnect here or what but I think some communication is what the doctor ordered. Zo should seriously think about what he wants because he's giving people mixed signals. Does he want to be better or does he not want to do it? If he told his mom he didn't want to do debate anymore and talk about how her pressure to be better makes him feel, I'm sure she'd ruminate over it and understand. She seems like a good mom for the most part. And concerning the past fight with Puen, I'm sure she was in shock that her son who had previously no problem prior suddenly got into a fight with another student. Her reaction was a little overdramatic but it's understandable that she'd be concerned that she doesn't know what has been going on with Zo and how things got to the point of him getting into a fight. This is a common thing with parents, I'm sure. If Zo would tell her how he's been feeling then they would get somewhere.
Alright, y'all in the comments need to cool your jets, LOL. Yes, this show is certainly not a masterpiece, but…
When people say the first point you mentioned it bothers me because I’m a lesbian lol. It bothers me that so many people think that the only people who watch BL are heterosexual women and that they only watch it for the bed scenes. Like that’s just such a generalization and it can be damaging. Just like you and I there are many types of people who enjoy BL.
I haven't started this yet. But I have seen last part. It's like ML died and FL went to past or something like…
I understand. He knows who he is so it’s happy for me at least. The drama is my second fav xianxia of the year. If you’re sure the ending will bother you a lot I will understand if you decide to not watch.
I haven't started this yet. But I have seen last part. It's like ML died and FL went to past or something like…
ML sacrificed himself to save FL because of a primordial soul protecting spell and was turned into the star of war which the FL watched every single night for movement. Eventually the star moved and she goes through the portal for another tribulation to find him. it was harder since their red string of fate wasn’t attached anymore but she went to the place she first saw him in the start. They eventually find each other. Now here is the important thing to note. He has his memories which means that he is within the tribulation without the amnesia potion to recover his primordial spirit. That’s why she asks “so who are you this time”. You have to think about it but that means one can assume that once that final tribulation is over he can return back to the heavenly realm with the FL. It is a good enough ending to me.
