big big big nauseating lies about relationships seasoned with very relatable true-to-life details (i might need to check if there's a hidden camera in my home lol) (Saikou no Rikon is way better, but u need to have a fair amount of life experience to really get it.) ........like, same guy buys menstrual pads - then same guy suddenly has an emotional intelligence of a worm and is blind to his wife's suffering from all the living-with-in-laws arrangement. I mean, c'mon!!!!!
great art house. maybe not the most innovative or original, but great. I've never came across art house on ntflx before, not in my spot on the globe (not Thailand, not Asia) interesting themes explored. In any case, I learned a lot. great casting of a lead. quite an interesting guy (the actor) if one wants to do one's HW on him. thank you) go out of your box, watch stuff outside of mainstream. it's out there and it has important things to say
the guy from the "the c bed" carries the whole segment on his shoulders. like, it's literarily, just him most of the segment. and the plot is pretty predictable, not the worst but nothing much. but you still sit through it because of him. each time when there's someone like this i'm amazed how some individuals are able to act (even when the material is meh) and some are just not....
this text kinda stands out a bit. overstuffed w some particular characteristics, makes one wonder more about the identity of the author, less about the film lol. they sure do know their durian stuff)) appears to be an oversaturated selling speech and whatnot which is fine, but making it look as if the film suggests to "accept this duality" and, thus, to "truly taste the richness of the human experience" is an interesting interpretation choice. or is it what they call...what's the word..."gaslighting"?.. but yeah, it does leave one w a truth... and it's a profound one for sure. problem is, somehow mine didn't quite blossomed "into a universal meditation on love's many facets". oh, well...
Just watched the first episode and was DRAGGING!! Felt like it was just them stalking each other constantly with…
I'd suggest treating it ("daily lives revolve around social media" thing) as what it is, a n̶e̶c̶e̶s̶s̶a̶r̶y̶ e̶v̶i̶l̶ product placement. Adjusting the perspective might help.
I want to start with a disclaimer….I am what is labeled a millennial which is a nice way of saying I am old.…
While I might occasionally find myself compromising on things embodying memes, instagram, tik tok, computer games, cell phones or hip hop, when is comes to anything involving "pop-", or worse yet, the infamous "K-" prefix (...or both of them clustered together...oh my, I can't even) - you'll be sure to see me running for the hills as a young mountain goat. Or at the very least having a puke baggy ready and clenched in an anxious grip lol . And yet here I am) Creativity\creative expression might be one of the awesome-est...what's the word...𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒔 of human existence...
It seems that people are really missing the point of the drama. It's totally understandable that any emotionally…
neat! parental figures! it all always boils down to them parental figures whatever the story, the country, the era)) and very true about the sister) the kids are profoundly thought through characters all around - i guess this is what they call "character driven" (vs "plot driven") *I think I'll be borrowing "parental figures", thank you.
Overall, of course you have a point and i see how his "stating my intentions" speech might feel apathetic...especially when put up against what 4ants went through already. The writers were like "ok now, we haven't got all day - that'll do". Apparently, some people didn't have much trouble accepting, combining it with all the other ingredients, like you said (and possibly depending on what kind of baggage they themselves had or hadn't acquired by that point). What I saw and heard in that dialog was mainly "we're together and we're actively working through our issues the best way we know how, 'cause we really want to make it work" lol But, yeah, there wasn't any "I love you" for sure) instead, it was implied. Maybe if I was 4ants I'd feel implication is not the best way to go about it :)
like i said, my impression is that there's not much room for doubt if any - they are not friends w benefits (shrugging) :) otherwise it'd be the protagonist not completing his quest\completely failing at what he was after throughout the whole story (from the first scene) and starting from nothing all over again. which is just not the story the writers are trying to tell here: 4ants never wanted friends w benefits (temporally compromising for the first several eps of the series), eventually up to the point of cutting off the other guy completely, which in turn resulted in the other guy trying to regain 4ants trust to start anew. (and the only "anew" 4ants wanted was a "monogamous relationship" and he made it perfectly clear to the other guy on numerous occasions.) ...and that's what he was trying to accomplish via various means for the last couple of eps) including his lines in their last dialog. ..on the other hand, if it's all still too vague for someone, it just as well might be too vague for more people, so..... (shrugging)
main plotline put aside; it was a wow on several levels. somehow i feel like i have to apologize for giving in and stating the painful obvious: one of them has by far the most impressive acting skills......and i know you know who it is ;) closely followed by the 7̶c̶a̶t̶e̶r̶p̶i̶l̶l̶a̶r̶s̶ 4ants fella sorry again lol
-the phrasing about the unnecessary bathroom shot in ep 1 is neat lol i might borrow it) -it did not feel like 2 years. cause the time flow was mainly represented by the nail growth and it just didn't do enough of a good job imho -thank you for your reviews )
i'd like to disagree if i may. it's not ambiguous, they did start dating, it's all pretty straightforward (but in between the lines) in their last dialog, while not spelled out into the viewer's face which i kinda appreciate even more. the last couple of minutes sequence showing them canoodling\holding hands in almost every frame is 100% unambiguous imho.
maybe it could be just called simply "The Durian Orchard" you know... sometimes a little less ..how should I put this...self-explanatory\overdramatized is somehow better. (Not to be confused with "The Cherry Orchard" which is a whole other story)
+ the iPhone advertisement too, series was shot in iPhone, so makes sense.
totally! half of the plot deliberately takes place on the screens of their phones) it's funny how it's actually working out and kinda seems to make sense)) ...also a little amusing how they all sit through the Chinese class with their up-to-date devices opened....and the textbook pdf. they are chanting from is one of these outdated boring ones, published at least 20 years ago
one hell of a creative promotional film for the local ministry of tourism or something lol. with maps and railway infographics and public transportation prices and video city guides and everything....and yet it's not boring (at least not yet) because this is how you do a good job at what you set off to do if you're a team of pros I guess lol
I feel like I've been to every store, snack shop, street food cart, most of the subway stations and personally met with ALL of the citizens of Bangkok. My head feels kinda dizzy, but not in a bad way. As usual, choking on product placement, but don't even hate it the usual amount, cause the videography, the writing and the directing are so great.
