Duan Wu is a child to me at this point..she does something praise worthy I pause to applaud her...she smiles..I smile with her....her character is precious to me.

according to the trailer they might become friends...

These days romcoms either hit or miss so I can't wait for what this is going to do....and Iam glad it's 12 EPISODES..better 13 than 16 that might drag...can't wait

right...like you can live them alive and still have the leads become stronger....I think they are going to do word him..

is there romance ? I mean yes but it ain't the main focus so if you here for it then maybe wait and see 😭🤣

I absolutely love how the characters in this drama are written with such depth and personality, making them complex and interesting. It truly makes looking forward to their character development worthwhile.

Firstly, we have Duan Wu, who has endured so much in her life, which has instilled in her a remarkable resilience and drive. She seeks freedom but isn't willing to take the easy path; instead, she’s determined to fight for it. Duan Wu desires a free life but wants to earn it herself. She is smart and won’t let herself be dragged around, fiercely fighting for what she wants. However, she also has her vulnerabilities, which provide ample room for her growth as a character.

Then we have Yan Zijing. He isn't a villain; rather, he is someone whose harsh life experiences have shaped him into the person he is today. With his guard up, he is driven by rage, hatred, and a need for revenge, yet he possesses a humanity that compels him to stand up for what he believes is right. He is a tragic figure, burdened by the weight of his quest for revenge, which restricts him. I can’t wait to see how his character evolves.

Lastly, there's Zhang Jingran, who is a bit too nice and views the world through rose-colored glasses due to his sheltered and privileged upbringing. He tends to see people in black and white—good or bad—with no gray areas in between. Despite his well-meaning nature, his beliefs clearly reflect his privileged background. I’m eager to see more of what the story has in store for him, and I hope they delve deeper into his character as an individual not a potential love interest...

Overall, the writing of these characters adds so much richness to the drama, and I can't wait to see how their stories unfold....after the first couple of episodes..I have high hopes and I hope they keep it up.

agree...as much as Iam not zijings biggest fan..but she has alot to learn from him..and he is also teaching her the hard way as it reflects how he learnt that in addition to the fact that she might remind him of who he was back then...the type of freedom that Duan Wu is seeking is the kind that's worked for not the kind that's handed over to her and I appreciate her for that....it reflects her resilient personality....jingran on the other hand means well but we have to agree that most of his decisions are clearly influenced by the fact that he grew in sheltered.....he is trying to be helpful by giving an easy way out but easy is not what she needs right now..she needs a push for the better so as of now staying with zijing is the best choice for her and I love how she is learning from him enough to support her self..later on

okay after ep 7 and 8 the male lead is growing on me.. Ofcourse Iam not a fan of some of his actions but I love how he's training her indirectly.. Ofcourse it's the hard way because it's how he learnt as well..judging from his backstory but he's the mentor she needs..to survive.

I don't find the second male lead annoying...he believes the only way to help her is by taking her away from the uncomfortable life Ofcourse it's not the freedom she seeks....but he's just being helpful....

lastly I'm looking forward to discussing more about the drama and caring less about the trolls...why give them power when you can ignore them..

This drama to me is like a journey or life story...it's her journey to finding freedom and she is meeting all kinds of people along the way some are showing her kindness while some are not and it's training her to become even tougher..she learning she is growing she is going to involve...she has and is going to experience hardships and work her way out of them...her character is written to be resilient and I love how they are developing both the story and her....the pacing of this drama doesn't feel too fast or too slow but rather perfectly paced enough to let me experience the journey with her...I know we aren't 10 EPISODES in or anything but if the writing maintain the charm and consistence then this is going to be a great and inspirational drama......this is for those wondering if you should give it a try.

I think Iam emotionally attached to Duan Wu that I feel all her emotions and hearts off to the actress for selling it..her eye and facial expressions are so good...I love seeing her learn and grow..seeing her struggles and even more and I can't wait for more of how her story unfolds.....

I love when a female lead is potrayed as strong not because they can fight but because they have the resilience and intelligence and drive..and are emotionally and mentally strong at that...I just feel like these days strength is related to how one can wield a sword or martial art skills and more when some one can be potrayed as strong..and at the same time have vulnerability that makes them human...so let's just say so far Iam glad the female lead is potrayed like that..she has gone through so much hence has this mental strength to her that drives her....like she's driven by her rage and more.....I think Iam starting to get addicted to the show ATP 🤭

When the world is dark and cruel but people like Zhang jinran exist...him and Duan Wu only had a few scenes...but I think that's the only time she ever let her guard down..and relaxed...love them already..like can't wait to more of their friendship

For me it's like a slice of life historical drama Iam not sure if Iam making sense..but the story following some ones journey while also hivhlitunf her struggles and more..the way the characters are written...to be perfectly imperfect..some flawed and morally grey...to be honest Iam loving it...some say it's slow...but I think it's paced perfectly..

Iam excited for her journey Ofcourse romance is part of it but I want to see her as an individual become stronger..her struggles and her fullfilling her ambitions...

MDL ratings are biased...and not reliable...if you enjoying give your ratings and hopefully after the haters are bored and gone..it will increase and reflect the value of the show.

To be honest I don't care for romance..Iam here to watch her as a character become stronger...like Iam here for her journey to finding real happiness and peace......I love her character so much and I can't wait for more of her development as the story unfolds...

Male lead so far is unlikable to be honest..like I sort of think I understand where he comes from...but it isn't helping either though I appreciate the actor show his range in acting..like the role is charismatic....

exactly like you have no idea all she gave up to love you....

Also don't mind the negative comments...I wish we could discuss more of what's happening in the drama and pay less attention to the people that are clearly uninterested but are somehow still lurking in the comment section and throwing around hate in the name of " giving their own opinions..."

I love when characters are written with complexity and personality and so far..I can see that with the characters in this drama...the acting is accompanying that perfectly so I can't wait for the character development as well as how the story unfolds....so far it's a great drama....
