sexy vampire?? everyone's entitled to their own opinion but sometimes people support a delirious ML just because his character's hot. she can foretell the future only to some extent bc the new timeline has already been changed, she has no guarantee in turning fate for those who died in the past even if she puts her best effort, that's the tragic aspect of the show; no amount of hope can save one from an inevitable death. she was clearly grieved over zhangzhe's loss, but in a later episode he even thanks her saying her harsh words were well needed to bring him back to investigate important political matters. she's crying cause his literal mother passed away, sucking it up and doing it has no clear result.

the more impactful a show is the more empty i feel post-watch 😭 my condolences to whatever drama i watch next bc it'll pale in comparison to SOKp

also i love og dub dramas! adds another level of realness to the emotions, voice actors do well but it's kinda refreshing like this

ive never had a sole favorite drama but i feel like this tops my list
reasons this drama is just on another level compared to others (my opinion only)
- second and third male lead have redeemable qualities and aren't total scumbags
- every single cast member, heroes and villains, all performed well, sometimes one side character that overacts can make the show a bit of a hard watch
- visuals! all the outfits have been nice, although most dramas meet this standard
- FEMALE LEAD HAS A BRAIN AND IS INTELLIGENT, even when there's a smart female lead tag there's no guarantee her head isn't empty, in some dramas FL is intelligent and cunning but then after the ML enters she does mindless out of character things
- POWER DYNAMICS IN COUPLES, many dramas have great cps but they always make the ML flawless and stoic and only add faults to the FL, SOKP pairings feel fair
- MUSIC omg idk what to say except love <3
- obviously plot is amazing, most historical dramas have a political plot relating to betrayal (what else makes the plot crazier lol), but the heroes are usually written so in depth while the villains are just made to be filler characters. i like how xue shu is the hateable characterr but there is satisfaction from duke xue's sufferring, taste of his own medicine lol
- dramas tend to make the harem full of jealous and crazy women, which isn't that bad unless there's not a single well-written female character, SOKP rises above that
- there's so much to praise about this drama, not all the eps are out and i wanna review it already :((

there are like a few short piano samples that play every time there’s a romantic scene, sounds heavenly but it’s not part of official pst 😔

if you check the dropped rating it’s 3 stars, and at one point it was 1.7 stars. many people speculated it was some type of hate raid cause the rating dropped from 8.5 to 8.2 in less than an hour (not at episode release time). the dropped ratings for 6 or 7 star show are even higher

*sorry couldn’t find the link* but in the 1119 livestream ending as all the cast members were giving farewell messages he said that xiewei’s character is basically the first he truly could read heart and soul since he’s such a complex character to portray, just like every other character in sokp

yea i had high expectations for OFL bc of the cast and was let down pretty badly, comments said yiyang wasn’t in the original novel so zsy x sy plot had to be tweaked to fit in the love rival

I’ve watched both and the scripts are sooo different in terms of quality. i heard OFL had a popular original novel but they threw in random characters and plots that weren’t part of original plot. SOKP is brilliant imo, unlike many dramas it’s interesting to follow each characters development without the use of excessive plot armor or angst. romance plot and political plot are just so unique, as in you won’t be bored watching through it :)

i pray the drama reaches at least 8.8, we’ve all been well fed after ep32 😭 love how every supporting cast member; including villains, executes their role perfectly without excessiveness. shout out to dingfei and xueshu actors cause wow they’ve been really good
