i adore any drama that has BL in it regardless of script (ex The Legends, even though plot seemed a bit dragged out it was watchable and id rewatch it w/o hesitation) but OFL has changed my entire view. im willing to sit through the first watch just to not miss the ending, but 10/10 cast on a shit script is like painting a trash bag gold. it's still trash. the "angsty" moments are meant to make you frustrated like i so wish they were together, but my frustration is like "god damn how do grown adults have such low EQ". i love to rant about how much i appreciate a drama, but OFL is an exception. i could type a full 5 page essay about how shit the script is <3

also shiyan depresses himself every time she posts on wechat moments (oh how dare she have a life) while ignoring messages. even a 10/10 cast cannot save this god awful script

qinshiyue x yuyou development is shit, he tells her theyre not fit and it's not appropriate mainly bc of the teacher-student relation, then she gets a booboo and all fo a sudden he cares?? guanji x ruoshan is so toxic cause the minute she's with another guy (not even romantically) he tries to pull her away. he was offended when she said "you only see me as a toy to possess" but actions speak louder than words. doesn't matter that he truly loves her if his jealousy makes him possessive. shuyi x shiyan just makes me speechless. he was so admanat about hearing her confess her true reasons for approaching him, then jumps to that conclusion as if all his hope was diminished within one second. he mentally prepared himself for all types of possibilities then doesnt even give her a chance to say anything even though he's like "oh no matter what i still love her". in response to his hot-cold behavior shiyi will obviously not realize when or why she has to distance herself from other men. she doesnt see it romantically even if shiyan is fuming with jealousy. they fuel each other's toxicity essentially

i remember when drama broke 9900 heat index people worried it couldn’t break 10000 since the rate slowed down, but so glad the drama hit such an important milestone ♥️

a lot of chu yui bun dramas have this, some directors have personal chocies that are quite unique but not well liked lol

IT JUST HIT ME the drama is like a burger except each layer is separated miles apart so it doesnt taste good. couldve been a good drama btu it was dragged out and you eat it like raw tomato, then lettuce, then a slice of cheese etc.

only reason im not dropping the show us cause i like the cast. i can't get behind the yuyou x qinshiyue ship bc even if it's legal, you can tell the decade difference in mental maturity. the ruoshan x guanji ship is just "no don't leave me i promise i'm loyal" a thousand times over and over. any chemistry betwenn any ships is not enjoyable if the plot is dragged out. the synopsis intrigued me at first and i will say i like how the main couple isnt totally in shambles halfway throughout the show, but the misunderstandings have been ongoing for like 2109921 episodes. whether for comedic effect or tension, it's all lost. i think it's a good background show to watch, while doing work or chores etc for an occasional laugh but not something you'd sit down for or stay up to watch
