imo political plot moves well, suspicion on duke xue is growing bc he seems distant towards xuedingfei’s return. romance wise weining shippers are jumping with glee and zhening shoppers must be crying in a corner lol

in chinese he was cut off before he could say what their relationship was. it was like “我是她的-” or “i am her-“ so idek what he was gonna say

omg that preview, ship shifting is real. one romantic moment with zhangzhe at they’re suddenly at odds 🫣it’s nice that xiewei keeps his temper in line more often so as to not scare and threaten the people he care about

she can only be all-knowing/foretelling to *some* extent, only to major events of her past. she never stuck her head out to try to save zhangzhe in the tongzhou incident or be more involved with the big family feud, so her saying "avoiding mistakes" does not make her sentient. this life is still considered new to her since she's chosen a new path in which she tries to appease her guilt. i agree her scheming personality is consistent, but "back to same old, same old" overlooks her cautious efforts to avoid the palace, or at least do good if she's too deeply caught in the events. XW has saved her before, but his harsh words will inevitably leave the impression on xuening that he's still as ruthless as the previous life. if someone saved your life then made a bone-chilling death threat, would you not be confused in fear?

yea i feel like the hate train built up after she distanced herself from xiewei which was VALID since he literally threatened to kill her if she ruined his plans. people defend him, and it's understandable, but it's not as if xuening can tell if he truly cares about her or not if he always maintains that brooding facade

I like this profound concept since it makes for an interesting plot, but im also hyped for the reveal

the whole theme is guilt and redemption, there are scenes that display how her change in life motto ultimately led her down a more peaceful path and scenes that show how her scheming nature never changed for good or evil, posing the question whether she should be tied down by the feelings of her “previous life” or devote herself to righting wrongdoings

i think the script confuses the original plot of the novel. he begins to like her when she sees her professionalism as she presents, she got over her scumbag ex quickly and subconsciously fell for him while trying to approach him for an interview.

this is rated 4.8 on douban and i think I finally realized why. the cast is amazing and the original novel was really hyped up, but there are some BTS clips that show how the director quickly shuts down questions. wanghedi inquired about how to express himself for one line and the director just rushed by it. even when other actors like bailu questioned the script, no clarifications were made. i don’t intend to blame the director based on a few videos but it’s really such a shame that this had great potential but ended up having a cliché script. i assume production may have been rushed for such a result in plot quality differenc

its been like 4 years since this drama's been out and no other show can make me laugh and cry the same, maybe it's the nostalgia but it's such a good rewatch
