i support weining (idk the actual ship name) but i doubt SML and TML are the toxic types to "want to change her". they never asked her to be quieter, livelier, more feminine etc. she does feign interest in zz's interests to create more topics of discussion and hang out with him more, but that's of her own doing. in flashbacks we see that by cross dressing she used to hangout with yanlin often and just have fun on the streets. obviously bc of the second life it's not like they're fully aware of her schemes, but their love is genuine.

summary: in flashback when lord pingnan wanted to kill the crown prince, he made children kneel in the snow with little clothing with an interrogation. xuedingfeng stepped up and claimed to be the crown prince but instead witnessed the bloody massacre. pingnan was about to shoot an arrow that's why everyone assumes he's dead but he survived.

amazing brilliant stunning magnificent and any other synonyms... i find myself binging through interviews, bts scenes, keep running episodes etc just to wait for another episode. no hate to other dramas, but it is rare to find a drama with pacing that pleases a majority of the audience. for example when it's 50 episodes of misunderstandings and tears shed over nothing or the political plot has too many plotholes. it's a great balance, phenomenal acting, well worth the hype :) it's also nice that the second male lead isn't written as a throwaway character but actually has a fighting chance. many stories just add in random characters to make the romance aspect spiral into madness

i had a stroke after reading this, he wasn't in the novel and you can tell by the ending that he's not gonna win anyways so i'd ignore it, since we're only a bit over halfway in the drama so obviously shit has to go down. a romance drama never has more than 5 episodes of peace :)

yes as in the "second male lead" actually has a chance and isn't just written in as a filler character (unlike some dramas). but i'd say the political plot is quite major so it isn't 38 episodes of tug of war with one poor girl

that's fine bc his true identity is initially painted as a mystery and slowly revealed through sudden events, the revelation hits people at different times. the way marquis yan treats him, his trauma with snowy day, his ties to the yan family all are clues that intentionally make the audience ponder (yes it's him)
