i think there's hope for drama rating to reach 8.7 or 8.8 if not for those dropped ratings ;(

idek how to properly add subs but willing to help out any fellow watchers while i impatiently wait for new eps :(

the action is prob mid drama, it was revealed in bts that zhoujunwei (yanlin actor) engaged in many battle scenes

director: for the cave scene we need to add height to her
zlh: this height is perfect
*after few takes*
director: linghe you need to stick your mouths together like gum, don't separate
zlh: im running out of air, oh all my makeup is on her *wipes it off*
*after successful take*
director: we need to select a good cover picture
bl: how can one kiss scene have this many snapshots?? never thought it was possible

one and only is 10x better than modern version, the modern one has like zero meaning if you dont watch the prequel. you can tell by ratings as well

the whole second life thing did not turn her into a completely person. she has a new motto in life and decides to refrain from palace affairs bc of the chaos that may ensue, but her memories and emotions are retained. people can change but it's not as if she forgot how yanlin ended up, how xiewei encircled the palace, or how zhangzhe suffered bc of her. he was her love in the first life and still is. we know which couple is endgame but atm she only has eyes for him

i think they're both great actors but i dislike how the drama was written out

i think it's comedic at the right times, i like it more than the romance

actually i think the drama would be fine if the side couples were done better.. im personally not a fan of the student teacher ship and the other one with FL's bestfriend and guan guy is really toxic, "oh i drink and hang out with many people but dont take it the wrong way im loyal to you" and the other girl still forgives him over and over. id actually rate this high without those plots :)

im also barely paying attention to the plot so i know qinshiyue is shiyan's niece so is qinlezhi just less in contact with the family or not related at all?

maybe other scripts felt repetitive to past roles so they just went with it? imo the appeal is def from the cast and the main problem is that it's hard to immerse yourself into a very lackluster story

it's a web drama so schedule depends on popularity

at the moment she likes zhang zhe and outwardly shows it. most people can predict that her and xw are endgame but seeing that it's 38 episodes, their relationship is obv slowburn (going through life and death together, scheming together etc.) this zhang zhe arc will just emphasize the pain of him losing the romance game 0-0

haven't read the novel so i can't be sure, but based on many trailers it does get darker /angstier when zz and xw begin to oppose each other and there's more bloodshed :)

is zhou jun wei not in this bc of the drama? idk the timeline so im unsure

that's understandable, chinese celebs can get hate for numerous silly things that aren't worth cancellation. after being blacklisted (seriously) once your career is over (ex zhao wei, li yi feng) but trivial things like dating a co star also warrants unnecessary hate

it’s interesting seeing the odds favor zz and xw interchangeably, in terms of romance and politics. it’s 10x more interesting if the main leads don’t have plot armor for all their decisions.
