asphyxia

it is quite different from the novel, her evil reign ends quicker in the drama. every time a drama title includes "legend of" or "传“ you know itll focus on that character. we get more of diziyuan pov bc even in romance dramas, one lead inevitably gets more screentime bc they are the main character. dramatic irony typically applies to a few characters and not all, there is no surprise factor if even all of hanye's scheming is revealed. i can see why fake dzy was a peeve for many viewers, she was for me too, but iirc her screentime dwindled quickly after she received the crown prince title. literally after dzy exposed her she fell into depression and that immediately started skipping off into the sunrise with the bodyguard cause he gave her a pep talk. her involvement in the plot is a parallel of luomingxi's ruthless and controlling methods of revenge and anle's views of humanity, ultimately letting the beggar girl live life in freedom. she may have an annoying character but all dramas have a "subvillain" before the final villain appears. she caused petty court drama while lengbei is literally the nation's enemy. common drama occurrence.

i think those scenes were to emphasize the pain of linlang's death, how she was always by his side aiding his plots while his eyes were always on ziyuan. luo mingxi can only obtain the audience's pity if they see his continuous concern and care for ziyuan. for the main revenge plot these scenes are irrelevant, but i believe it brought more importance to their individual character plots. all dramas are like this; main plot focuses on the leads, side character scenes only further audience sympathy for them. luomingxi and linlang were examples of painful unrequited love.

sorry can you be more specific about which side characters and which events were pointless?

its worth the watch 100%, i think its on par with most dramas rated 8.5, low ratings are due to pacing, just sit through it and enjoy every moment instead of rushing ahead for max enjoyment

im curious which side characters' scenes you found pointless, imo many complaints were about the pacing being too slow for a revenge drama instead of being ab side characters

kinda sad ab the final rating, understandable that the pacing of this drama is slower than the typical revenge plot, but imo it was sufficient time for the plot to move forward. there are certain dramas rated below 8.0 bc they have zero plot and bland acting, doesn't feel fitting that this drama is in the same category

han ye helps fake ming xi’s death

major spoiler for truth behind ep34 trailer below

it’s good, i still don’t understand why rating is 8.0 if you compare it to dramas rated similarly. plot is based on revenge and pacing is fine, just not everyone’s cup of tea bc some people like immediate action. slow burns deserve more love

im dying to know what’s next omg

anyone know why ep34 trailer isn’t released? usually the trailers for the episodes releasing the following day are released on yt around 6pmncst

no, but he does have an upcoming scene that’s quite tragic, much emotion portrayed

omg 2 i never knew

Ty, i was confused bc chinas values obviously are against incest and that portrays in the media. i remember in aol when xufeng had a whole crisis bc he thought jinmi was his half sister lmao

if Xiao Yao and Cang Xuan are cousins, why is the ship so popular ? am i missing something ? cause his aunt is her mom right

douban often relies on rumors until an official announcement is made

oh oops thanks for letting me know

i will continue the show no matter who’s endgame but im hoping it’s yeshiqi/tushanjing bc he just treats her right. based on the outro it’s clearly not that simple but i can’t seem to pity the white hair cause he’s like a male Karen except with nine lives. xuan is her cousin right? dk how id even ship that. i wanna be spoiled

for the rest of the release schedule it goes 2-1-2-1-2-1-1 for Monday through Sunday
