short answer is that toxicity is not limited to Weibo, it was just an example. it is unfathomable to sane people, but some people disregard viewership and go on crazy online protests. internet is diverse and my example does not need to apply to every drama, just a possibility since there’s no way of reading into who left the low ratings

if you frequent weibo youll find many toxic fans from each fandom. i dont mean to generalize all gong jun fans, i only mentioned that it was a possibility of the low ratings since it has been like this for many dramas. fans from different platforms act differently.

yea it’s kinda sad that bc romance is like the most popular genre people drop shows for petty reasons

if you hover over the number and see the average for dropped ratings, you’ll notice that it’s drastically lower than other dramas. this could be due to high anticipation for the drama that caused disappointment in the pacing or anti fans

there are antis but there are also “idol lovers” as in they idolize someone too much and can’t bear to see them paired with someone romantically. bailu got hate for pairing with xukai in AMA, yangzi got hâte for pairing with xiaozhan in OoL. on Weibo you might see crazy fans ranting about a new show bc their fav actor is paired with another actress

the guard acts as the messenger in the middle, they limit contact with the puppet dzy to avoid suspicion, thus she is only familiar with the guard and listens to his instructions that are passed on from lmx

yesterday youku posted 12-13 trailer so i thought there’d be two rod today , i disappointed myself lol

sad thing is that those who dropped will never change their absurdly low ratings, bc of high anticipation for the drama im sure many weren’t patient enough for the plot

for the average drama, dropped ratings have a mean of 6-7 but it’s 2-3 for this drama, explains the lowrating

i think it happens on a lot of shows to counterbalance hate. some crazy fans dislike their favorite celeb pairing up with someone else in a show so they start hate trains. this was rated way above 8 stars on many chinese drama sites upon release while it was 7.6 Jerez MDL ratings can’t really be trusted lol

perhaps some people dropped early bc fans were hyped for a bloody revenge story and may have been turned off by the FL's ditzy act while craving real action, i felt the same but kept watching and really enjoyed it ^-^
