OKAY! I understand that Tan is Dam and Dam is Tan. But which one is his real name???? And if it really is Dam,…
Dam is a codename for his work in the mafia. In the book, it’s translated as Mr. Black (Dam = Thai word for Black). So at least in the English version of novel, it’s clearer that it’s a pseudonym.
I wonder when Inspector M starts to realize his supervisor is involved. He gave so many tracks and made so many…
Bunn and Tann probably didn’t file any complaints about the prison attack because clearly someone high up in the police force was involved. They didn’t know how high up and how widespread the corruption is, so they likely didn’t know who to trust.
I think that might have been a translation mistake, actually. When you look at the scene when Sorawit is being…
You’re correct. No bullets actually hit Sorrawit. His injuries all came from being hit by a car. And yes, it’s more of Bunn asking Sorrawit if he was shot at, not shot.
... the crooks kept Thad alive. What are they planning for him? They think he’s one of Por’s men (which in…
Having read the novel, I have little doubt Thad would make it out alive unless they deviate drastically regarding his and Sorrawit’s subplot.
It just still seems odd the show version would not have them kill Thad off the bat since clearly the villains have not had problems killing people mercilessly, even small fish like Thad (and considering they know his connection to Tann).
Of course, the “off-show” answer is that Thad and Sorrawit is endgame and they need to keep him alive. I hope. LOL. I wish they just have a better explanation of why the villains kept him alive.
Example, say that they plan to use him as leverage to control/manipulate Tann. In the novel, Tann’s (living but sick) mother was a key leverage for Tann’s actions and motivations and why he’s forced to do things he’s not really comfortable doing. Since in the show Tann said his mother is dead, maybe they plan to use Thad as that leverage instead since he clearly cares for his ward/protege as well. This then would be a good reason to keep Thad alive.
... the crooks kept Thad alive. What are they planning for him? They think he’s one of Por’s men (which in a way he is, considering Dam’s gang is an extension of the mafia family), but it also seems that Por is not involved in the congressman’s human trafficking circle.
So why would they have kept the trespassing Thad alive, especially since the congressman’s driver already previously caught Thad stalking them?
I hope they explain this because they clearly have no qualms killing trespassers (such as Pat), so why didn’t they kill Thad as well? Especially since the guy who caught him and Sorrawit snooping around was clearly shooting at them last episode.
I've been wishing for at least Tat and Sorn's bromance but a full on fling would be nice as well! ?
Yup. Essentially they are the BL side couple of the series. That said, they were barely in the novel and were really highlighted only in a special Sorrawit chapter at the end that details out what was happening in the background with them while Bunn and Tann were solving the mystery.
And in the main novel, after the events and a time jump, Sorrawit starts med school in Bangkok, and Thad, who has graduated from trade school (mechanics), is set to follow him to Bangkok to look for a job so they can be together.
But again, they are still barely in the novel, and the show IMO has done a great job in fleshing out the two characters, developing them and their relationship more solidly, and giving them much better screentime.
This was giving me “The moment” vibes, but I have to say that this was executed way better! Has anyone ever…
Oh wow. I thought I was the only one who felt it had strong “The Moment” vibes!
It’s almost the same premise, and I agree this was executed better because it was more subtle and less melodramatic. For the record, I did like “The Moment” for what it was, but I feel this was done better, especially considering this was shot during a pandemic with a lot of limitations and looks like with a much lower budget.
I can imagine Tay playing Vlad and Gun playing Karl if this were remade by GMMTV. Juan Miguel Severo would definitely…
I love GMMTV (mostly), but I hope they don’t get their hands on this unless maybe Backaof directs. Some of their recent BLs have been questionable and seem like step backwards considering they managed to produce something great like He’s Coming To Me.
And yes, I hope ATOTS breaks the funk because their 2021 BL slate (based on the announcements) looks to be 50/50.
Podd finally got a main rol but this drama is a disappointment. The plot, the chemistry between these two is not…
Yes. I like Khaotung, but he just doesn’t have the same chemistry that Podd and Fluke Gawin had, and it’s a shame GMM seems to be abandoning that ship.
I do get why they would choose Khaotung over Fluke for this one. Khaotung is shorter and more twink than Fluke, and I believe that’s how Chonlatee is portayed.
Fluke is very tall. I think Tay or New or someone else once said that PoddFluke were the tallest / physically biggest BL couple in GMMTV because they were both very tall. So it would be awkward or hard to portray Podd “carrying” Fluke around like he does Khaotung.
Plus, Khaotung can radiate stronger uke vibes, and IIRC, in the novel, Chonlatee is even more girly.
So that’s probably the reason why they chose to pair Podd with Khaotung over Fluke on this one.
Some clarifications.1. Bunn had to take a shower because formalin (or whatever chemical they were using) spilled…
No worries.
As a note, for #2 - in the novel, Bunn did get to have his own bedroom in Tann’s house. So them sharing the bedroom was only done for the series (probably to increase sexual tension).
I'm still not sure if I like MOD. A lot of the story makes no sense, to me, but somehow they kind of 'work'.Like…
Some clarifications.
1. Bunn had to take a shower because formalin (or whatever chemical they were using) spilled on him. Aside from the smell, the chemical may be toxic.
2. Tann explained exactly why there was no furniture in the house yet. He had just moved in and a lot of the furniture was still not available. He also offered to stay on the couch in the living room.
3. Pued didn’t accompany any schoolgirl to an abortion, He accompanied Jane. It was a flashback, not set in the present time, so he wasn’t “supposed to be missing” at that time.
4. Pat was shot, but he was run over by a car as he was trying to escape the shooter. He wasn’t just left “unburied.” When the shooter saw Pat get hit by a car (accidentally), the shooter left. Presumably the car driver (who was a random passerby) was the one who called the police or brought Pat to the hospital.
5. Tann did not tell Por where Pued is because Pued told him not to tell Por.
Some of these were made clear in the show if you paid more closely to what was happening.
I’ve largely liked this series in the first few episodes and have been ambivalent in the last few ones, but episode 8 was finally really just cringe. The only really good thing was Chon throwing back water at Amp. Oh, and Na. Protect Na at all costs. Initially I was going to stan him with Chon, but now I think Na totally deserves way better.
I don’t think they can fix this mess in 2 episodes. They should probably have just stuck with comedy because that was entertaining. Mike and Toptap are great in that aspect.
Ton has been in total denial of his feelings, finally accepts it, and so the first thing he does is go and give…
I agree it was insane how suddenly they just had sex, but it’s not surprising given how they’ve portrayed Tonhon: aggressive, an idiot, gets what he wants the way he wants it, hot-headed, unthinking, etc.
Again, I don’t agree with it, just that with the way they’ve been writing Tonhon, it’s not a surprising trajectory they went with. Disagreeable, but not surprising.
Women in most gmmtv bls (this series included) are often reduced to caricatures and mostly objectived by the men…
I agree most women in GMMTV BLs are just so poorly written.
That said, I can name two who are positive female characters that didn’t go the usual villain, wallpaper, or caricature route - Sandee of Kiss Me Again / DBK and Ainam of My Dear Loser: Edge of 17.
But yes, other than those two, I’m having a really hard time thinking of other positive / well-portrayed woman in a GMMTV BL series.
MAYBE Manow in Dark Blue Kiss but even she was relegated to almost background status alongside Rain and was barely developed.
For me, the best women in BL are Ainam, Sandee, and in the non-GMMTV landscape, Yihwa (Bad Romance / Together With Me) and Zol (Why R U).
It just still seems odd the show version would not have them kill Thad off the bat since clearly the villains have not had problems killing people mercilessly, even small fish like Thad (and considering they know his connection to Tann).
