Ep 11 was really really cute but the mom really did a 360...I did like the acceptance but, I feel like they always…
At this point, I come to expect this storyline, and the best that I hope for is that they just rush through it and not let it take too much screentime. I think they wanted to make it seem like Duean was also a victim of a patriarchal system of control that she was trying to protect Rey from. But, it wasn't enough to redeem her actions toward Print, even if Print herself forgave so quickly. At least it's not the worst example of of this trope and she wasn't homophobic, is all I can say.
Is it just me who thinks its weird that they are kissing themselves (cause of the body swap)? Other than that…
It's an interesting question, and it's definitely not just you. I would never say someone was wrong for thinking it's weird. But I could also see getting used to it after a few weeks. Besides mirrors and photos, we really aren't looking at our own bodies all that much. Even listening to our own voices is a different experience than when we are just talking normally. Plus ReyPrint/PrintRey have their own unique mannerisms and ways of speaking that makes it easier for them to see each other beyond the physical body itself. It's funny to see Print being possessive of Rey and not wanting her to show off what's actually her own body. It's confusing to think about, but it kind of makes sense in a weird way too?
I love Print in Rey's body so much. She's so damn funny and full of expressions.
And Rey as Print enjoying the benefits of not being smol, but still 20% awkward and clumsy with her movements, because she's still not fully used to it. The way they have practically convinced me that Rey and Print are real people and not actors switching roles.
I agree with what you're saying normally, but the issue with Chom putting off telling her family, at least for…
True, I admit the 3-year aspect does make harder to defend. Maybe if we heard more thoughtful explanation for her hesitation, it might make it easier for people to sympathize more. I'm sure from the show's perspective, she will ultimate be the one who has to change. For some reason, I still can't help feeling bad for her.
I'll probably be the only one, but I will defend Chom. No matter how supportive your family environment is, it can still be very hard to open up certain parts of yourself to them. The possibility of disrupting important relationships, forever altering their perception of you, causing disappointment, etc, isn't something you can easily dismiss. Of course, Ton's side is understandable as well, but she is not 100% in the right as we see her subtly putting pressure on Chom to do something she's not yet comfortable with (especially after saying she would accept whatever status Chom was comfortable with). It's similar to what happened in 23.5 with Ongsa and Sun. Being adults, you can certainly expect they communicate better, but it's not always that easy. I find it very realistic and relatable.
And now I'll probably alienate myself further by saying this, but female characters who tend to act more cutesy or even childish seem to get more hate than they deserve. Obviously people can like and dislike as they prefer, but there's nothing inherently wrong with acting like this, and plenty of people do it in certain contexts for various reasons. I've seen all the characters in this show have moments of immaturity but Chom gets way more hate than any of them. I've noticed this tendency towards characters like this. I can't say that I don't get why it annoys people, but I also can't say it's ever fully sat well with me either.
Not justifying anything but the y fans who complain about morally grey characters and actions of y series wouldn't…
I'm not going to say I tolerate it, but I usually will say to myself it's fiction and so they are going to bend the rules of acceptable behavior. It still annoys me because it's usually completely unnecessary, and distracts people from enjoying the show. And it annoyed me more when I found out reading other comments that it wasn't even in the novel. Just like drunken hookups, it's almost always a lazy plot device, just a way to move things forward without actually doing the work of creating a genuine tension or connection. In this case, the backstory and their interactions at the event were already enough from a narrative sense, and everything else was amazing for the episode. I'm sure they just hoped to make a bigger impact for the opening scene like with Affair. At least she somewhat called her out on it later. If you absolutely must include in the script, at least have their be some consequences or showing remorse or apologizing.
I really like how this show portrays various types of complicated relationships through society, friendship, work, and love. It's a lighter theme, but it still takes on a lot of issues. GMMTV does a good job building relatable characters that go beyond tropes. And this slice of life stuff is really my cup of of tea. Honestly, leading up to its release I had no idea what to expect, besides knowing the milklove chemistry would be there.
pam and rak's relationship seem to be a bit boring??? im not saying they are bad but i feel like we are just getting…
It didn't bother me because I enjoyed watching them be comfortable with each other, but I can also see your perspective the more I think about it. Pam had a deeper conversation with Kawi about her conspiring with Nene than she ended up having with her own girlfriend. Rak's relationship with her family is quite complex but with Pam it's very straightforward. Maybe Pam's jealousy was the one exception of something they did to spice things up, but they didn't really do much with it. I think you can clearly see how they both grew as people as a result of being together, but the relationship itself didn't have as much substance. While the lack of toxic drama is refreshing, I agree that they could have done a bit more to add more depth.
how refreshing is it to see a couple who didn't have a toxic/dramatic breakup then get back together and marry…
There's multiple character arcs, like 5 interweaving storylines, they subverted expectations on just about every existing trope, we get to see a growing romance that isn't bogged down by forced drama, no pointless side couples, there are deep themes of family and overcoming trauma... I guess I just have completely different standards for what makes something boring than some people
My favorite part of Ep. 10 was when Pam told grandma about her condition and the eventual group hug that followed. I feel there's some emotional complexity to this scene for Rak, which Bonnie conveys very well even without spoken dialogue. In the previous episode when Pam was distraught over her grandma's illness, she was saying things like, "I have no one left." Obviously she meant no immediate family left, and it was no slight against her girlfriend. Rak took no offense, of course, but you could see a little bit of her uncertainty in the scene. When you fall in love with someone, no matter how close you are, it's easy to feel some awkwardness when you see them interact with their longtime friends and family members. It's often hard not to feel you are an outsider in those circumstances. Already an outsider in her own family, Pam's family became her "found family," but can she truly be part of it? When the others are comforting each other, you can sense Rak feeling the grief of the situation, but also her conflicted feelings about where she belongs. Then grandma calls her over. It's a very moving scene in many ways, but I really love this aspect of it.
That scene between Nene and Khem just wow. What power from both actors bouncing off each other.I'm feeling it…
As you said, it narratively made sense given what we knew about their relationship, but I still didn't expect them to follow through with scene like that. I'm not always against messy fights and breakup scenes, but it really made no sense with these two. And then it was even more meaningful they didn't break them apart, so Rak could be with Pam as she dealt with her Grandma's health situation.
i must be out of it bc idk why i thought rak's mom was gonna say "i like women too" during ep 9 when rak tells…
It almost seemed like they were going in that direction. I guess don't want to have to think about the implication of Kawi's mom and sister both liking women while he exclusively dates lesbians lol
I saw the company recently terminated its contracts with Christine and Mae. Even though I don't know the story, I'm just going to assume it's yet another instance of company incompetence and mismanagement, especially given the production troubles the series had. I was very sad to see this news. These women are truly talented and I really hope they will get an opportunity somewhere else, whether that is as pair or otherwise.
Rak: I know you're trying to break me and Pam apart Nene: Of course, it's already episode 10. Let's get on with it! Rak: Sorry sis, I'm going to love her 10x more now. And just for that, I'm going to give you my full power 🐶 face Nene: Uh, I gotta go 😩
What I like about this series so much is how it breaks away from the typical tropes that I personally feel are starting to weigh down the Thai GL. Watching it feels so refreshing, like my intelligence isn't being insulted. Even though I'm fully invested I can see how maybe some might say it's not the flashiest story. But it just feels very relatable, real, and human. (I completely reserve the right to rescind this praise if the next 3 episodes are all forced separation, angst created by a simple lack of communication, and undeserved redemption arcs 😉)
Thank you everyone for giving me so much info previously when I asked about the series 🥰 I'm sorry it was not…
Aw, well I tried lol. Honestly, I am a very picky person and I usually have more fun critiquing than complimenting. So, I was surprised by how much I like it. But also, if you don't feel yourself particularly drawn to the series, no reason to force it with plenty of great stuff out there.
It's quite ironic because Nene said Dokrak is Khem's family so their nature is the same. While Dokrak is nothing…
They have already subverted my expectations a few times with the way the plot has gone. But, this wouldn't be a Thai GL without a painful breakup in ep 10 or 11, so what can we do but brace for the worst? I wish I could tell Nene that this family will easily implode on its own without her getting involved and everyone is already miserable.
It's quite ironic because Nene said Dokrak is Khem's family so their nature is the same. While Dokrak is nothing…
I'm afraid of what she's planning to do, because I can't figure it out. Probably something related to Kawi, which is Rak's weakness. Her plan has to be to destroy Rak and Kawi. I feel like it can't be too evil (or she doesn't succeed) because her character is obviously meant to be redeemed and Khem becomes the main enemy. I'm still nervous though. Pam really needs to tell Rak their connection to their family.
In episode 3 part 1, it is interesting that the siblings provide different responses to when Pam says that she…
That's a good point. I forgot about that scene. Even though I feel like Kawi is not so bad, I have been thinking he has no right to be so sad over Pam, since his father never would have accepted her, and he is too afraid to defy him. So there really was no future for them even if Pam wasn't so monumentally downbad for Dokrak. That's why it makes a lot of sense that he accepts the relationship, and we see his bigger inner turmoil is related to Khem.
