It still doesn't "dictate" what people watch. You make your own decision based on what you see and read. Besides, this article is just kind of reaffirming what is popular between two dramas which are intended for the same general demographic and follow the same or a similar premise.

I think you've kind of said it yourself. A lot of the time it's the writing/actor directing that's the problem, but it's hard to tell when it's the actor's ability or just the fault of the character's their choosing when they choose similar characters again and again. A lot of the the time SSK's characters are quite similar. But a lot of female characters in general are quite similar anyway.
