The original title is "Cheng he ti tong" meaning "how could this be". It is used when someone is acting in a very inappropriate way, think something like "Scandal!" or "improper behaviour". In the drama, we hear that phrase a lot, even from the first few episodes that were released today. The whole setup of the drama is built on impropriety. People act in ways they absolutely should not according to court rules, hierarchy, and “how things are done.” In the drama, it is mostly said about Yu Wanyin, since she is the one to break the "rules" and change the original plot.

THIS IS A MAJOR SPOILER SO PROCEED ONLY IFUW
The synopsis is correct, but that certain info should not be there. Anyways, XHD transmigrated a decade before Yu Wanyin, when he was still a child. He was abused, manipulated, and naturally very scared. They poisoned him, tortured him and even forced him to have a child. All this led him to become an actual "evil tyrant". Most of his actions weren't just an act for survival or strategies, they were his actual intentions. When Yu Wanyin came, he finally found someone that could help him survive against the empress dowager and prince duan, his main rivals or rather his tormentors. He did not want her to find out that he is that mad emperor that commited all these murders and evil doings. So he had to LIE to her. He told her that they came to the world at the same time only because he needed help. She was his saviour, a ray of light to this whole darkness he was going through, so he couldnt risk losing her.
omg, try not to! I was so curious cz of the hype that I ended up starting to watch the anime version of it first..…
It has many comedy elements in it and is kinda unserious too, especially in the beginning but it gets progressively darker, as more secrets and politics are revealed
Zhang San transmigrated to the novel when he was a kid as Xia Hou Dan. He went through lot of stuff, he was forcefully poisoned and abused. So he became a mad and crazy tyrant, just like the character the original novel, attacking officials and even killing a maid because he was so scared. He was all alone in a cruel world and he wished for someone to come to his rescue. Enter Wang Cui Hua, a girl that reads the novel and transmigrates in it. So Xia Hou Dan (Zhang San) sees her as his saviour, as she is determined to change the novels ending. But he lies and tells her he transmigrated at the same time as her and that he is a poor actor. He has no choice because she will think he is truly crazy if she finds out the stuff he has done.
There is not certain reason “why” they transmigrated, they just read the novel and boom. FL goes in the book…
Okay so these are the things I remember, since I like the romance part more and therefore paid more attention to it. Anyways: Xia Hou Po is targeting Xia Hou Dan because he believes that if Dan didn’t exist, that position, that recognition, that life should have been his. He is the legitimate son and the successor, so he wants to be in his place. He has no other way of implementing his plans and taking the throne than attacking and eliminating Dan. With the Empress Dowager being alive, Xia Hou Po has enough time and room to do that. Xia Hou Dan, poisons the empress dowager but does not kill her immediately. This gives Xia Hou Po limited time to act. So after that he targets Yu Wan Yin. She basically is the mastermind behind Xia Hou Dan's plans and his emotional anchor. In other words, she is his weak point. Now, for Xie Yong Er, the original FL of the novel, she is somewhat his tool. He slept with her and then she was pregnant, something that made her believe that she was safe and that she secured her position in the palace. But Xia Hou Po does not like that, like not at all, so instead of ordering an execution he allows some "treatments" which lead Xie Yong Er to a forced miscarriage. After that, she is useless politically and emotionally, he does nothing to save her, so Wan Yin reveals that she and Dan are transmigrated as well.
can a novel reader give me spoilers? Why have ML and FL transmigrated? And 2FL and2ML? who is the real villain?…
There is not certain reason “why” they transmigrated, they just read the novel and boom. FL goes in the book meets ML and realises he is also from her world. They work together to prevent the original ending of the book from happening. And they realise that the 2nd FL, who is the protagonist of the book is also from the real world after she sings a modern song. Then they work with her too in order to avoid the ending. The villain would be the 2nd ML, since not only he wants to stop them but at some point also realises that the 3 of them are from another world. Now regarding the politics, XHD and WY try to find any way to escape the tragic ending.
I have to say, I feel really bad for XHD, he went through all that and on top of that had to lie to WY because he was scared of what she would think of him
