She is not dumb. Her heart just changes to be more open towards the ML. She realize the accuracy of ML calculations, his good intention, and broad-mindedness. She follows him because she starts to trust him and not worry about her safety around him. And, she wants to help, too, after misjudging him.
I think it serves more as a catalist for character development. There are many changes before and after.
ML, he becomes more determined to pursue his mission. FL, she now is willing to cooperate with ML. They both are more open minded about one another.
Prince Wuxia, he got some lesson from the bitter reality which is changing his perspective. He will be a great prince in the future, I guess. And, QY, she also shows maturity. She is still annoying and childish, but she is pretty wise.

In my view, the romance is a bit heavy, because we have a married couple here. So, the interaction between our leads is more mature, and intimacy is something you can expect. Some people said it is the sensual tension that makes it romantic and full of chemistry.
Yeah, and their story makes ML a very tragic character. He doesn't only experience tremendous loss, but also a drastic change in identity, personality, and the way he handles things. Very interesting character development!

Yeah, I agree with you. The villain is the best aspect of this drama. We have a formidable opponent with the same brain power. And, I really love how the director shows us their thinking process and their restlessness. It makes them human.
