Let's talk the latest regular episodes (34-35). ZY and his grandfather final fight is so heart wrenching and beyond my expectation. That old man really did his best to save Qingshan Manor and make ZY accept his responsibility. And the psychological manipulation is commendable. I think, that is how the head of spy/ assassination bureau should work.

And so many emotions at play: sadness, disbelief, shock, disappointment, anger, rage, guilt, frustration, tiredness. Li Yunrui is perfect on portraying that particular scene. Without much talking no jutsu. The realization, the sword fight, the climax, and the resolution, and the scream to the top of the lungs. Very neat!

Sure Yunniang trained her in her early days. But it is not the training that changes her in fundamental way, but Yunniang's death after trying to kill their master. That event shapes her belief about freedom from oppression.

CQ got her skill from ZY after ZY saved her from the game of the wolves. There are flashbacks on that though not in chronological order. Watching PA help you to arrange some events in the flashbacks.

If that is true, this is really not an idol drama, and zero fan service. They dare to do that. They dare to break our hearts.

It is realistic though. Every episode, somebody loses their life. Why should the leads wear plot armor? Hiks. I am prepared for one or two leads will meet their demise. 5 episodes to go.

Good for you if that (express) is true. But I am patient enough to watch it episode by episode. There are things to digest slowly, to write a final review.

General Cheng, you mean? It is because he loves Yanbei, and wants Yanxun to focus on his role as a king and do his duty to avange their loss to Dayong. Yanxun is relentless about pursuing CQ, and this is distracting his focus. General Cheng worries that if YX comes together with CQ and under her influence, he would become a pacifist and forget to revenge. That is why he wants CQ to die, or leave Yanbei/ Yanxun.

That is a natural response. But managing expectation, opening your mind to new development, and adapting yourself to change are the keys to enjoy life and stories. The existence of Rebirth is better than nothing to watch after PA at all.

I just feel richer right know. I enjoy the novel, I enjoy PA, and I enjoy Rebirth! I am no longer hanged on the brink of that cliff.

Trailers are just bait. The story can be really different from what inferred from trailers alone.
