It's totally understandable that you had lingering dissatisfaction. The ending was wrapped up too quickly and we had to make our own inferences from a couple of montages in the last 10 minutes.

To be honest, when they allotted almost 7 episodes to the Bo're arc, I knew deep down that the resolution will not be satisfactory because there simply won't be enough screentime left. There are more important events that need to be shown in the mortal and immortal arcs that are the central to the story.

It is what it is though and it is good that we have great forum members who are able to shed additional light or perspective through their reflections. 😊

I really feel this is the most acceptable ending for me. I tried to think of many different possible endings, but I realized this ending is the one I like the most.
I mean, how many of you have watched c drama (especially xianxia) which has showed how horrible the situation between the leads was...like they spend 98% of the episodes showing us misery and tragedy nonstop, creating super complicated problems, like really it seemed impossible to solve?
But then they used the remaining 2% to miraculously invented a solution to all miseries and suddenly our leads lived happily ever after? And just because we are happy to see our leads together we ignored the ridiculous miracles that suddenly saved our lead from death, or random reincarnation in mortal realm, or how suddenly a super god appeared and resolved all misunderstanding, or how a super villain suddenly repent and be good, or how suddenly a weak lead became super powerful and beat all the villain, or how suddenly there was a secret book or recipe to cure disease, or whatever bullshit just to make it happy ending?

I have said many times, a great actor is above the script, above the director. LYX has always been able to tame down the “evil/villain/antagonist” characters (Runyu -AOL, ZZZ – Broker, ADG-TTJ – TTEOTM), because he does not settle with the director and script alone. And even when LYX got v little screen time such as Princes Silver-Rong Qi, total 100 min in 58 eps. It was Rong Qi that pp remembered and his Rong Qi data overwhelmed the ML+FL combined sev times higher. He won awards for 3rd ML which is unprecedented, usually only ML/FL sometimes 2nd ML/FL but never 3rd ML/FL. That’s a good actor and LYX is a great actor. Even with little screen time, LYX made use of every screen second with his acting prowess.

He made the script better. That’s how I judge a good actor or not, bad script is never an excuse.

Honestly, Lbfad's IQIYI CGI production & Ost are more impressive than Dylan & Ester acting and that's all. I still skipped it, as doesn't have strong intresting storyline. It's just a plain old fluffy romance. It have a happy ending (which is why it gets so much attention.)
