On Eizouken ni wa Te o Dasu na! Oct 11, 2023
It's a shame that it's only the beginning of the story. Had a lot of potential, but the rest would probably be too expensive with all the animations and stuff they come up with with their imagination. Maybe Netflix should have a go at it with their budgets.

Title Hold My Hand at Twilight Spoiler
Very likeable characters, both the main characters and the supporting cast. The two mains are independent, intelligent,…
First is the time progression. They all do and achieve stuff in record breaking speed. For example Soramame breaks up with her idiot fiancee, bounces back, finds a place to live, then a part-time job, realizes she has talent and decides to go for it, quits her job, finds a designer that hires her, designs a dress, gets her own collection , quits the designer's studio and then goes to Paris to participate in its fashion show... and all in what, a few weeks or two to three months at most? Same with Oto, who struggles with his music for years and somehow, after meeting Soramame, gets inspired, signs a major label deal and becomes successful in the same time frame as her. The writers made them achieve way too much for the little time span the drama's set in.

The second thing is the ending. We struggle, cheer, laugh and cry at/for/with them for 9 episodes, even with above written problems, and then it skips 3 years, all problems and miscommunication of 3 and a half years get resolved in a matter of about 10 minutes and we get a 100% clearance achievement happy end. They at most glossed over why Seira chose to apologize even though she liked Soramame, what happened in Paris, why she gave up designing and didn't want to return to Tokyo at that time and nobody even mentioned how they all knew that she was back in her hometown. I wish they would have explained and cleared up at least some of the reasons why things are happening the way they are. As it is, the first 9 episodes were really good even though the time of progression was messed up and the last episode was a bit frustrating and I couldn't really enjoy the ending because of it.

Very likeable characters, both the main characters and the supporting cast. The two mains are independent, intelligent, have their own opinions, are on equal terms and can stand up for themselves throughout the drama, which is, unfortunately, still pretty rare in a romance JDrama. Good chemistry all around, especially when it comes to the friendships, a nice sense of humor and well acted. So much so that it overshadowed the not so small story progression problems and plot holes (see the spoiler reply to myself) and got an 8.5 from me.

Title Mai Agare!
Asa ga kita is a masterpiece for me. FL is in my top 5 of asadora leads. Massan,Churasan,Natsuzora are also good…
Overall I liked Umechan. I think it was a bit... too easy (?) because I think there weren't really any challenges for the FL, it had quite a bit of downtime and I wasn't a big fan of the tsundere father, but it was an easy watch, the story of how females were slowly more and more accepted in medicine after the war and the FL herself grew to be accepted by her surroundings was pretty interesting and I liked most of the characters.

I'm a bit conflicted when it comes to Hanako to Anne however. I didn't find it bad at all, but it felt like a pretty big let down because it's one of the best Asadoras here on MDL and I couldn't really see why it was that highly rated. I really liked the FL and the story itself was well written and executed, but the first half felt a bit like a high school play at a school festival production wise and the supposedly best friendship in all of Asadora (some comment I read), which was the main point I was looking forward to, between the FL and Nakama Yukie's character didn't feel close at all and not even like a friendship sometimes for me. A nice sidenote would be that Yoshitaka Yuriko's English (pronounciation) was really good when she translated stuff to the principal or teachers. It's also one of the few Asadoras where I liked the city part way more than the hometown part (Hiyokko is another one for example).

Asa ga Kita and Natsuzora are probably two of the objectively all-around best Asadora (and JDramas for that matter) since 2000 at least. Natsuzora is my favorite so far and one of the exceptionally few JDramas I watched where I can't really think of any criticism except for one character that really annoyed me (I get really into details, so I unfortunately always find a lot of stuff I don't like even though a drama is overall really good). Ohisama was pretty good, especially because the style of the storytelling was different and fun. Churasan hasn't really entered my radar yet and I'm a bit afraid to watch Massan because of my bad experience with married couple leads (Gegege no Nyobo and Manpuku), even though I think Yell was really good.
My favorites beside Natsuzora are Amachan, Hanbun Aoi, Okaeri Mone and Hiyokko. I also enjoyed Teppan (at least about 23 or 24 of the 26 weeks) and Toto Nee-chan, both of those mostly because of the Heroines however.
Edit: sorry for the novel, didn't even think of how long this comment is going to be...

I'd add Okaeri Mone in that list. But that's mostly because of Kiyohara Kaya. Probably the best Japanese actress when it comes to characters with a bit of baggage at the moment.
The Heroine's least worth watching in my opinion were the one from Gegege no Nyobo (that was a shitshow if I ever saw one...) and Manpuku. Those two's hobbies were mostly apologizing for and especially to the men around them, even if they themselves did nothing wrong whatsoever, and trying to fix their idiotic decisions.

When mdl stop using romaji as main title? It is hard for me to explore japanese drama.
It's the title that's used in most searches and on most non-official platforms. If you search the English title it'll pop up anyways here on MDL because of the AKAs. Also, the English translations are dog crap 9 out of 10 times because they have nothing to do with the original name. This one here's a big exception.

And I'm working on subbing the last four episodes that were not completed by salaryman in 2020.
Just my opinion, but I don't think you need permission to reupload hardsubbed videos as long as you don't monetize them and leave them as they are. I think people who hardsub stuff and only upload them on their own/some unknown site should be happy if someone preserves the files and reuploads them if they go inactive and the site gets shut down. It's a pity that so many JDramas aren't available anymore because it was common practice to do that for a long time.

They're gone. At least from all the better known pages you can download subs and/or raws.

On Kateikyoushi no Torako Jul 11, 2023
The reason why she became a tutor was pretty stupid and most of all really naive, nonetheless I still enjoyed the first 8 episodes. The problem is, the last two episodes were a real mess. It felt like the production team was told after episode 8 they had to wrap up the drama in two more weeks, even though they planned for it to go at least 4 - 6 weeks longer. Either that or the writer really didn't think the whole story through to the end because the foundation they built up in 8 episodes was basically torn down in a matter of a few minutes in episode 9 without a real reason why or explanation.

BUT, if you like Hashimoto Ai you should definitely give it a try. Even though the last two episodes were really unconvincing, which wasn't her fault but the writer's, she did a pretty good job as the "a little messed up Cutie Honey light" she portrayed in most of the drama.

yo yo!Do we have a link for this?I just discovered it though IMDB,i searched for it but nothing. Can someone please…
It's on Avistaz, but there're no genuine English Subs and it'll probably never get any because it'd take a miracle for a subber to just stumble over this movie by chance.

Am working on the last four episodes english subtitles at the moment.
Very cool! Thanks! Do you also happen to know where to get the Subs from the first few episodes? Seems like they only uploaded them on their site or I'm just not as good at looking for them as I thought ;)

No one ever subbed this one or the movie to be available? Oh come on guys. Have some pity on us to share with…
I think ECOTV subbed this a while ago, but unfortunately it seems like the subs were taken down everywhere (Livejournal and Subscene at least). You could try asking on their Discord server.

japanese drama and movie are always like this right? do they always have incest drama and movie?
At least there's no incest themed drama/movie in the over 2300 Japanese titles on my PTW and completed lists. I would bet there are more "incest" themed movies/series from the US than there are from Japan, even though I don't know any because my interest in them would be 0.

Hi can you please spoil the ending for me. I watched it with google translate but subs for E10 are missing and…
You will never get the same results from a machine translation, especially when it comes to Japanese. They don't use pronouns, a lot of their language is based on TPO (time/place/occasion), their names can be translated in 100 different ways and they more often than not don't use full sentences, at least if it's non-Keigo. These are all points that are practically impossible for a machine to translate correctly. If you don't know any Japanese at all it's really hard to "get" every conversation the way they mean it. So your work is verrrryyyyy much appreciated and could never be replaced by a machine (even if I probably won't watch this drama xD).
Why don't you upload your work on d-addicts.com or drama-otaku.net? It'll be much more prominent and appreciated on these sites than on Subscene because that page gets avoided by a lot of people as far as I know (it's definitely the last page I visit when I'm looking for subs). It's the only page that allows machine translations to be uploaded afterall and it's not particularly visible if it's human or machine translation.

a love angle between 52 & 24 years olds? bye.
They never were "in love" with each other romantically. She was just confused because she didn't have any real friends or male influences in her adolescent and adult life, except for her two business partner,s and couldn't place her feelings of liking someone as a "uncle/brother/father" figure. At least that's how I see and interpret it.

I think for the past ten years or even more, dorama and Japanese movies are filled with family drama, how to build…
To be honest, I just wanted to write a sarcastic comment, not trigger some kind of discussion what's right or wrong ;)
I totally get what you're saying and it's totally fair, even helpful to society what happens in Chinese TV, but in my opinion it's the complete opposite for Japan. If they want to promote family, why not stop making 8 out of 10 dramas/movies with the totally outdated "women need to stay home, support their husband and be a housewive so men can work their butts off 80 hours a week and do nothing at all at home" mindset and either have them both work or reverse the roles for a change to show that it's possible to build a family that way, too. That would be way more effective to promote family and marriage in my opinion because everyone who's watching news or some kind of social media people "from the west" can see that it's possible and acceptable to be hard working and independent in marriage.
I think it's way past time for Japanese society and writers/producers to stop making dramas like "Unicorn ni Notte", in which the female lead, who's single, in her 20s and owns her own company, thinks (at least in the first few episodes) that she can't fall in love/have a family AND work/grow her own business at the same time, partly because she's being pressured by the people around her (especially her high school student little sister) to "stop working so hard and fall in love instead", and promote that it's possible to have both or at least that it's acceptable to choose without getting pressure, even (or especially?) as a woman.

So what’s your point here? They should leave them alone and see decline in their population? Really I am curious…
I know what you're talking about, but I was talking about the women who are in their mid/end 20s now. Who knows what will happen in 50 years. A lot of those you are talking about ended up that way because they got shunned by family and society because it wasn't acceptable to not be married as a woman. If nothing changes it'll be the same with the men in the future. It's not like they are eager to get married nowadays because society's pressure to be the patriarch and breadwinner is still way too high and if they marry a career woman who earns more money than them they're looked down upon. So they stay alone and rather chase some idol(s) their whole adult lives and then end up in the same situation the women you were talking about are in right now. The world, at least first world countries, isn't a patriarchic dominated society anymore and Japan has to catch up or end up with the majority of people staying single until they die.

On Say "I Love You" May 13, 2023
Well, that was a waste of time. I actually liked the anime, but it's been awhile since I watched it, so other than the general story and the fact that I thought I didn't hate Shoujo Manga characters for a change I didn't remember much of it.
I somehow thought the ML was considerate and likeable, but it seems I mixed him and the dude from Kimi no Todoke together in my head because I certainly didn't remember all the non consensual kissing and the pushiness, especially in the beginning after the karaoke. She should have just kicked him down the stairs again to make him realize what a douchebag he is, but her having the ability to say "no" or "stop" was probably a short term character error because she switched to stereotypical Shoujo Manga FL the rest of the movie.
But maybe I remembered right about the anime and the characters and it's just that Fukushi Sota's acting sucks. Everytime he tries to show any kind of emotions it just seems extremely fake and he comes across as just another playboy Shoujo Manga Lead who doesn't care for anything or anyone but himself in every role he plays.

It's not bad if you don't know the source material, but it's worse than the anime and definitely way worse than the manga. Probably the biggest problem: it's a PG-13 movie made out of Rated R material. I'll also never understand why the Japanese take an already unfinished and extremely compressed 200+ minute anime and compress it even more for a 100 minute live-action adaption.
