After watching half of the episodes, it's very obvious that this is a college project in every way possible. Amateur acting, bad sound and camera quality, haphazard directing and editing, the story and characters are very confusing, etc. Sometimes it seems like how a 12 year old would image the inner workings of a company. Also, at least for me, it's an absolute no-go to use AI filters on faces.
If you aren't interested in supporting them with a view or a very big fan of everything GL you should probably avoid this one.

I'm 100% on board with Omini's review. I like to add though that it was completely devoid of the "charme" the original had. Nanno was this untouchable force that solved all these superficial problems, while in the original she was also in a lot of dangerous situations and dealt with real bad stuff. I don't care if she exposes some influencer or catches some idiots that almost openly take panty shots... for real, I think if someone with a hint of deductive talent looked into that case they would've exposed those kids in 2 minutes. If you like the original, don't waste your time.

Do you know how many episodes this drama will have? You always have to guess with them, I don't know why it's so hard to say somewhere how long the drama will be.

Is this some kind of college project that got a bit too much funding so they could pay their way onto WeTV? The acting is super amateurish and awkward, most of the time it gets worse when they open their mouths. The camera work is very bad, what's with these strange off focus shots and the constant colored background blurring indoors? The story has an interesting premise, I like the whole GL in a GL thing like in Queendom, but they completely throw that out of the window after the first third of the drama and make it so the viewer even forgets there once was a real story line because of awkward pacing and continuation issues. I can stomach all that from a 60 minute Youtube drama that is financed through memberships, but not from a drama by a production studio with a real budget that's aired on a major streaming platform. I usually even watch those to the end, but I got to episode 6 and the first scene in it finally made me drop it. The whole scene looked and sounded like a college frat bro having a very inappropriate talk with a middle schooler.

Like I said, I didn't watch nor plan to watch this one here, so I can't really pinpoint what the problem was, but it seems like I at least partly misunderstood your post, sorry about that. I thought the "emotion" part was directed at the acting and/or how the characters behave, not the story itself. Because after more than 10 years it really gets on my nerves when people coming from KDrama go and whine about "there's so much over acting, the actors can't act at all" on every JDrama, even though it's often simply just because Japanese storytelling and acting is still very much based on their own theater and literary culture. And the fact that there's a lot of bad directors and screen writers in Japan. Don't get my wrong, I'm not saying there aren't bad actors in JDramas, there are a lot in fact, but these people whine about every single drama, even if it would get praised to all heavens by everybody familiar with JDramas.

I don't know what JDramas you tried before but that sounds like a real strange problem to me because in my eyes a lot of JDramas try to focus on too much at the same time. But if that's the issue and not some kind of "I only like western acting/directing" or "I need a certain level of production value" bias I always see in every comment section like I understood it (again, sorry), then my suggestions should be different from "most JDramas" you watched because they all have multiple story lines the characters care about. Like romance and career, etc.

I haven't watched the drama and don't really plan to, but reading your "review" and your "critique" ("They can't handle multiple emotions at all [...] One single track simple can't handle emotions at all [...]") sounds like everyday social and traditional media in the west. In everything, not just romance.

This is not meant as criticism, more as an observation, but I would suggest, based on your generalizing and your completed list, that you should stop watching JDramas and needlessly pulling down scores because you seemingly want to watch something that's catered to the west. Japan doesn't do that because they cater to their native audience with their own culture and style, so it's very different from KDramas, which completely abandoned those to get successful on Netflix.
I guess you were talking about romance dramas in your generalization though, so here's a few suggestions if you still want to try (the first two are more westernized than the others, so you might actually find them more acceptable): Yugure ni, Te wo Tsunagu; First Love Hatsukoi (the one with Mitsushima Hikari); Uchi no Musume wa, Kareshi ga Dekinai; ANIMALS; Oneechan no Koibito. Just a few random ones in no particular order.

It's a tragedy if they try to pack everything into basically 3.5 hours of runtime. It's way past time Japan gives good Yuri stories full-length dramas.

From only the trailer it seems quite fun. But it looks likes Poisonous Love 2: The Restart to be honest. The same premise with the same actresses that play the same kind of characters. Let's hope for a few less high heels and dress pyjamas and less stereotypes.

Stockholm Syndrome the Series?

Yeah, that's what I got, too. I got into it with the thought that this was a "find your on screen partner" show, I found it a bit dumb to always bring "real life love" into it when it was never said if these girls are even into women. It's one of the biggest "Thai GL" problems if you ask me, always this ambiguous "love is love" speech. If you're into men, say you're into men, it doesn't hinder you from playing in a GL.

It was an enjoyable light-hearted watch and it was unique in the sense that it started with a married couple, but a lot of the time it seemed like whoever wrote this story was never in a long-term relationship themselves. It also felt very episodic, even though they were going for one coherent story. Like the first few episodes was about one topic, then a few about another and a few about the next... and none of it was ever mentioned again after their "arc" was over. But it was enjoyable and had some pretty funny moments.
As a sidenote: I wish they wouldn't use the same makeup and styling for every actress these days. I'm extremely bad when it comes to face recognition and needed a few episodes to tell who's who of the two main characters because to me they basically looked the same even though their faces are completely different from one another.

For all the people who (probably) rated this drama low because of the "sexual violence", I suggest you take off your fiction is reality glasses and stop demonizing everything depicting crimes of sexual nature in dramas/movies. Nobody's romanticizing it, least of all the drama itself. And just because something bad/sad happens doesn't mean the story can't be really good. Making the internet available to everyone was a mistake.

Really good story, I wish they would've made it a full show instead of a 3 hour drama, but I don't know when or if we'll ever see a full-length Yuri drama. Maybe they grow a pair and make the complete Yagate Kimi ni Naru manga into a drama, that would definitely deserve 10 or 12 50 minute episodes.

I wish they would've made it like 8 or 10 episodes. I kind of lost interest after 6 months and even more so when the main actress was swapped out after over a year. They should've started with a shorter series and if it made a bit of money or was well received they could've come up with a sequel or different story.

Yeah, that's why "basically". The vast majority is like it. Whale Store is in the absolute minority when it comes to GLs that are mostly focused on romance in 2025. ClaireBell or Runaway are very different genres with different settings, one is mainly thriller/drama and the other is horror... I was only talking about the "romance dramas", like (just to name a few examples) Denied Love, Poisonous Love, Harmony Secret or Dangerous Queen, which are like carbon copies of the same setting that all use the same stereotypes I mentioned in my comment.

I hope you don't take any offense because I absolutely don't mean it that way, but you probably shouldn't watch pure adult-centered romcoms from Asia (or at least Thailand and Japan) that don't rely on (heavy) drama in later episodes. This sneaking a peek trope is probably one of the most harmless ways of comedic expression they could go for, especially if the other person really doesn't have a problem with it... I mean, she could've just turned around, go away or curse/scream at her instead of saying "hey, don't do that" while she proceeds to undress and go bath with her. The whole drama is sprinkled with this kind of humor and leans even more into it the more they get familiar with each other. You know there's no malice behind it because it's a fictional story and everybody knows how it ends, so under these circumstances I really don't see any harm in that kind of presentation.

Because it's a comedic element in a romcom. Just like, for example, when characters always fall on each other's lips (which is totally overdone and cringe in my opinion) or when they sleep in one bed as far away from each other as possible, then end up in each other's arms the next morning and both recoil at the same time. It's a typical trope in a story like this that's been used for decades, especially in Asia.
Also, you can edit your comments instead of writing several one sentence ones, I usually edit comments at least 4 to 5 times throughout a series if I want to comment on it.

Because the majority of the Japanese entertainment industry doesn't care one bit about the international audience. But that's also why we don't get culturally watered down products that cater to that audience. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Japanese media to go mainstream all around the world (like the music does since a few years, finally), but not at the exchange of "westernizing" everything just to get good numbers on streaming services that don't give an f about any other culture than theirs, like manga and anime does a lot these days.

I was quite sure before watching Enemies With Benefits, but now I'm almost certain: Thailand is allergic to light-hearted stories with adult characters. Or at least Thai GL is.
Don't get me wrong, this is one of the best GLs of 2026, but the whiplash between the first 6 and last 3 eps almost sent me to the ER.

I know what you mean and you hit the nail right on the head of my issue I tried to get across. In my eyes they need to preserve the culture the original work is from, instead of adjusting everything to, in Netflix's case, US standards. It's the same with subtitles. For example, why do Netflix/Amazon subtitles say that new co-workers address each other on a first name basis 10 minutes after they meet, when they audibly don't do that and probably wouldn't do that in Japan even after 10 years of working together? I think they need to acknowledge that difference instead of changing everything to one worldwide standard and basically eradicating cultural differences from media they get their hands on. There were times when the original title was left intact and they gave it a subtitle instead to add context... but these days streaming services just change the original to a completely different meaning just so, in this case, English speaking viewers know what it's about without the need for a second glance to actually know what it's about. This is by the way, in my opinion, only the second worst part of western streaming services buying Japanese media, but I don't want to unnecessarily rant even more 😅

Thanks for the recommendation. Just saw a few days ago that it was already fully subbed. I was sceptical to watch another couple, especially from the Meiji era because I'm not the biggest fan of stories that are set completely pre-1945, but I'll watch it when I have time. It's on my list anyways and there aren't many since 2021 that are subbed and I'm particularly stoked about when it comes to the setting (only watched Okaeri Mone and Anpan since then).

Tora ni Tsubasa is allegedly really good, but it seems pretty tragic and sad, something I'm not really in the mood for the last few months. But I'm really looking forward to Kaze Kaoru, even though it's set in Meiji. I don't think I watched an Asadora with two female leads so far, except for Dandan which I don't really want to talk about ;)
