What did you connect to about this series? I can make recs, but it kinda depends on what aspects spoke to you?
I'd say the closest match for cinematography is probs My Only 12%, which was also extraordinarily warm. My other cinematography picks would be KinnPorsche, My Stand In, and Not Me, just because the sets, blocking, framing and colouring are spectacular.
Actng can be a bit subjective, and have cultural context, but my faves have been Bad Buddy, Game Boys, Semantic Error, Love in Translation, Not Me (again, one of my perfect 10s) , Lovely Writer, and Be My Favorite. You've probably seen a fair few of these, but I'd say my all-rounders that bring a little bit of everything to the table for what you've described are: Love for Love's Sake The Promise 30-sai made Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni Nareru Rashii • Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (my all time fave. Japanese comedy isn't everyone's cup of tea but it settles into itself and the acting, scoring, story and visuals become a greater whole.)
I'm making an assumption of BL, although I could always recommend Crash Landing On You and Mr Queen from the more popular K Drama world. Hope one of these piques your interest!
I can also rec absolutebl over on tumblr, they have an astounding knowledge of BL series and can make interesting recommendations.
Wow, I didn't expect GreatInn's chemistry to be THIS amazing. Finally binged everything - waiting on the last…
They've been strongly hinting that they are doing more, and I think GMMTV has put a lot of Time and effort into wooing Great, who said he'd only do Wandee with Inn. I think the will is there, just awaiting the right script.
Is it true? Satang's character is asexual in the novel??
Now I want to know too. I love Wandee Goodday for giving us Kao as an unambiguously ace character with everything going for him. I hope he finds the man for him.
This is so cute. It feels like both main leads are much better matched to these roles than LITA, and the characters are more nuanced. Perfect for Sundays.
Even though The Middleman's Love was a weak series I loved seeing Uea and King as an established couple. Uea smiles so much more and they act like a team.
I have a really specific viewing suggestion - watch F4 Thailand at the same time. F4 is quite a dark take on Boys Over Flowers, and if you see two productions made at the same time more or less, with big cast crossover you get some context that makes both shows more interesting.
