i think especially when it comes to bls, people are used to perfect main characters and that's why shows like LM and KP are criticized to no end. ofc these characters are 'bad' sometimes but it doesn't mean the show itself is bad. i'm glad you liked the comment <3
love mechanics is about two flawed people. well, you can say that one is more flawed than the other but really, both are people who make a lot of mistakes. i do have a lot of reservations about vee and i absolutely condemn cheating and there are a lot of double standards in the way the show treats vee vs ploy cheating but there are a lot of things people overlook here. i think vee being attracted to a guy lets people (rightfully so) give him the benefit of the doubt because maybe vee didn't even know that he was attracted to guys before mark came along and it shook his life to the core. tbh vee seems like an easygoing and simple-minded person aka he is not the kind of person you would expect would cheat on their partner. he is confused by his own actions and because of his relationship, he is constrained in an environment where he is not able to truly confront his sexuality so he does what he thinks is the next best thing which is go after mark even though he is with ploy. life is not black or white. vee couldn't just leave his gf after he suddenly starts catching feelings for mark. i think that he is scared of his own feelings. ploy starts cheating on vee because vee is poor and she wants to be with someone rich and vee cheats on ploy because he feels physically attracted to someone else. both of these things are very selfish and it's completely fair to dislike both of them however, there's a lot of nuance concerning vee's sexuality people tend to ignore. again, vee is not doing the right thing and i do not support his actions but i do understand the reason as to why he does what he does.
mark is a rich, sheltered kid who honestly, did not know the first thing about love when we first met him. he fell for bar because bar has all the nice qualities in the world. he is in love with the idea of bar not bar himself. mark falls in love with vee even though vee is not exactly the best person in the world. in fact, when mark falls in love, he falls for the worst person he could ever fall for: an over-possessive guy who already has a girlfriend. that's the reality mark has to face in his sheltered life, you can buy the best things in life but you cannot force yourself to love the best person with all the good qualities in the world (nuea). in fact, you might fall for the worst person in the entire world or at least a person who is really really bad for you and you can't do anything about it because the heart wants what it wants. there's another thing here. mark has never been loved, he hates the crowds, he is anxious, he has the tendency to get inside his own head. he does not love himself and he doesn't do things that are good for him. he never has since the show started and he probably never will cause that's just the person he is. in my personal opinion, mark is an emotional masochist. he always does things that end up hurting him. you want to know why mark loves vee even though vee is not a 'good' person? it's because we accept the love we think we deserve. mark thinks he deserves this love, this situationship with vee and even though he knows its hurting him, he will continue to chase this feeling till the very end.
