I wrote a longer impression piece on my feed, but to summarise the first 8 episodes: - the gaming part can be shortened - the leads are pretty and have chemistry - their acting needs improvement.
I think the female lead is more of a narrator than a protagonist and she gets beaten down too many times for you to take a liking to her. They could have done better with the characterisation. It's okay for the narrator to be unlikable in a novel, but it takes away from the enjoyment when she's unlikable in a drama. Other than that, a well-made drama overall that needs to speed up.
Idk what some of you are talking about. I read the novel and the gaming part is just a plot device for the romance. This isn't a gaming drama by any measure, the romantic interactions are key.
As much as I love Winter Garden couple, I found their interaction so cringy, why does Jung-wan have to talk to…
I feel the same way regarding their interactions. If anything, HP2 taught me that coming across as naturally cute is probably the hardest thing to pull off when acting. You need a special charm for that, and I don't think the Winter Garden couple has it. I see the aegyo and I'm like wth is going on. It's just my personal opinion though.
Basically the same. On the positive side, some viewers feel that the drama is interesting and they enjoyed SIG's…
Yeah, I guessed as much. Korean netizens have the tendency to find scapegoats. It was never going to be PBY because she has a really positive image so unfortunately the scapegoat this time turned out to be SIG, and the writer of course.
How are the reviews for DAYS, in Korea? Can anybody tell?
Basically the same.
On the positive side, some viewers feel that the drama is interesting and they enjoyed SIG's portrayal. There are others who feel that the saving grace of this drama is PBY. The biggest hype came during one of the kiss scenes, but that went off tangent and ended with netizens nominating best kiss scenes in dramas.
On the negative side, they say it's boring, deliberately cryptic and the main couple lacks chemistry. Korean communities also have an inexplicable dislike for SIG saying that he's not a fit and his acting is off. Objectively, despite the fact that I feel that this drama is absolute bs, I don't think SIG's performance was deserving of these criticisms directed at him. A small group of people also think that PBY's acting is one-dimensional and she showed limited spectrum thus far with her acting choices.
Overall, it's not viewed favourably. I'll just leave it at that. Of course, I don't look at forums all day to check the responses, so there might be things I missed.
it's not like people don't understand, it's just too many things were truly not explained:> why can Doom break…
At this point this explanation is getting way too far fetched for me, with assumptions of possible translation errors and language nuances. I mean "void" (I'm a software engineer myself) in this context should not mean anything else other than a straight nullification of the contract (pun intended). I also understand Korean and I don't think translation is at blame here at all. If the contract doesn't come with fine prints, it's not on the viewers to try to find "loopholes" in it to explain the inconsistencies of the script.
Frankly speaking, people are getting too hung up over the contract. At this point, it's nothing more than a plot device for the leads to get together (and separate) so it's only as useful as the writer deems. Some people consider it poor writing, others who don't mind just need to take a leap of faith to stay with it.
Plot progress is getting a bit too slow for my liking. I expected a few minor cases to be included, but the focus is all on Jan's murder, and I'm not sure if that is enough to sustain the length of the drama. Fingers crossed though 🤞
I had to agree with you on that, and it's saying something because 😂 there's a level of difference as a seasoned…
I feel like they should've smoothen out all these, but lakorns being lakorns... I just try to "get the idea" behind these scenes: the female lead is smart and the lead pair need romantic interactions.
lol at people blame the time slot for its low ratings when drama Record of Youth who had the same exact time slot…
If the timeslot is actually an issue, the ratings should start out low and just be stagnant all the way. The ratings actually dropped, so I'm not sure what timeslot has to do with it. Fans should just continue to push the narrative that it's doing well in terms of online ratings and buzz. It airs at 9:00pm anyway, not late night 10:30pm or 11:00pm so I don't get the reasoning. The next competitor starts at 9:30pm so they even have a headstart.
I thought Ep 16 was supposed to be released tonight like right now. Does anyone know why it isn't on dramacool…
Episode 16 is the finale. Also, episode 14 was delayed by a week for a volleyball match broadcast and I don't think MDL's algorithm handles these exceptions yet, that's why you didn't see the airing time for the final episode (it was supposedly already finished).
Honestly, there's like this leap of faith that they take when it comes to deductions that's hilarious because it's so ridiculous.
In the first episode, when the female lead was trying to lure out the murderer, she said "I'll claim on TV that we have evidence of homicide and we know the culprit already, then the culprit will come to the station and ambush me". Hello? Why would he do that? He should just bomb the police station if he wants to get rid of the evidence altogether.
In the most recent episode, the female told her friend that she needed to head back to the police station to wrap up work. After her friend called the male lead and realised that the female lead hasn't gotten back yet, she immediately theorised that she must have gone to Jan's murder site. I don't know how she thought of that at all.
The drama has brilliant execution when it comes to the plot, but the actual logic behind the story is lacking a bit. I'm still enjoying it though, because it's at least a sensible drama with rational characters, and because Thanwa and Tubtim really spark with each other. Even if we ignore the crime aspect, this works really well as a romcom too.
I think the pretentiousness is the biggest issue. It just puts people off. I've heard the same philosophical arguments over and over again, I don't need you to repeat them to me as if it's a big deal. This drama will be much better if it embraced the fact that it's just a basic romcom and nothing more. It's trying to do too much but it's just not hitting the mark. The wannabe feeling is strong.
- the gaming part can be shortened
- the leads are pretty and have chemistry
- their acting needs improvement.
