I think there's two girls, Qingyu and Qing Shuang? Qing Shuang is the illusion one. It makes me wonder what terrible…
I suspect they all have di d too. Because the place she was living at looked like it's falling apart and neglected for ages. Like her dad and the uncles sent her there not knowing how bad it is. But the emperor did say something like the if the academy didn't shuddered thier doors...I wonder if the whole academy fell from grace, and many people were executed.
The young girl who accompanies Ye Li, is she a hallucination or what ?

No. The direction and production of this drama are very low quality, and it shows. The story is mediocre at best.
By the way, the director is being roasted by Chinese netizens for his outdated and cringeworthy directing style. Even the casting director and makeup team haven't escaped criticism.
ZYR is overacting. It feels like he's being directed to project a grand, cool, larger-than-life presence, but neither his visuals nor his physical performance make it convincing. The way he moves, carries himself, and delivers certain moments feels forced rather than natural. ZYR is not a method actor, so the director needed to use his strengths and lean into his natural aura. In my opinion, the director failed miserably in that regard.
Compare this to his role as Mu Qingyan, where his portrayal felt believable. His shamelessness, dialogue delivery, body language, and subtle micro-expressions all worked together to create a cohesive character. Everything felt natural and in sync with the role.
POJ, at least in its first half (and despite the problems that emerged later) was still better both cinematically and narratively. There really is no comparison. And ZYR is a far stronger actor than ZLH, so it's definitely quite dissapointing to see him wasted in such a script.
POJ did alot of things well in the first half before spiralling downwards. I don't know why you would compare these two. Zhou Yiran is being wasted in Ashes. He's an amazing actor and a better actor than most his age. Hopefully, he next historical drama will be better than this one.
Why does the FL suddenly want absolute power? Pretty simple it was to survive and keep her father live. But when…
The build up to it was not convincing enough. The writers and director just wants us to assume the relationship between her and her father is absolute filial piety and that's a cop out. The palace relationship is not that complicated.
It looks like Iâll be dropping this drama. đ I was really looking forward to it because the reuters were so good. The acting from the two leads is pretty solid, and the story is passable, but omg, I just canât handle the cringey post-production. My brain keeps going: âWhy this jump cut? Omg, this framing. Why is the color grading off?â and I canât turn it off.
Even the dialogue doesnât feel natural. Thereâs no world-building or proper character setup. I donât understand whatâs motivating any of the charactersâ actions. Why is this throne above everything else? Why does the FL suddenly want absolute power? â ïž Things just keep coming out of left field.
Its definitely giving higher budget short cdrama vibes but I think its on purpose. In China viewership has declined…
Or they could just write a good story đ The reason short dramas are rising is because, narratively, they stick to a tighter structure. But you can still take that structure and create a good long-form story. The problem with long-form dramas isnât the style itself â itâs the poor writing and execution. AtC is proof that the short-form style doesnât work well for long-form storytelling.
Idk about weibo or other chinese platform but XTH on twitter r behaving very stupid! They r sabotaging the drama…
XTH have always promoted Tan's characters solo since Xiang Liu. They don't push for CP. But I think there's are alot of fake fans stirring up the fandom to cause problems. It has gotten worse since Filter.
