They’ve turned him into a guest roll, basically.
The battle scenes being cencored is bull...I finished Generation to Generation and the fight scenes were bloody as heck. Probably people making excuses to justify the crappy storyline in the second arc.

Dear drama gods,
Please please do not downgrade our Xie Daren to a meme and an aura.

We need him mean, cold, courageous and conflicted. He's a goddamn general playing a dangerous game for Chris sakes.

🥹🙏

Thank you.

No one is complaining how strong she is....but people are complaining how there's no context on how she became…
I think the writer made the wrong changes in the story. She focused to much on CP and marketbility, and was hoping to get away with having things implied... because they weren't catering to people who appreciated good storytelling in the first place. We were never the target audience.

Even without the novel, I can tell you that the progression from beating up a bunch of thugs to defeating a seasoned military general will require alot more backstory than that one half minute flashback to her learning martial arts from her dad. Because there is a hugh difference from learning martial arts from your dad and being a martial arts prodigy (which it looks like the drama was trying to portray). Again, I love her character, but that doesn't mean I would just let my brain fill in the blanks for the sake of it.

I gotta say this is the first time I've seen criticism over the FL being too strong. Very different from the typical…
No one is complaining how strong she is....but people are complaining how there's no context on how she became so strong, 😒, or how her journey requires you to implied she was born with super human strength. 🤣 Her character setup was not like Strong girl Boongson. Even I still don't understand how she became a master at martial arts? with just a few lines...my dad taught me his swordsmanship. Okay.....and?

The fortune thing is, you can fill the gaps with the novel.

Other than crappy subs or no subs at all, we don't know because we prefer to watch on legal platforms to support…
Omgad if I was the director I'd be so pissed. Like NO ONE consulted me. But you know, directors for dramas don't get enough praise and creative power. The first half of this drama proves that if they get the creative power it would be amazing.

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
is wei yan good or bad?
Not sure about the how the drama gonna do it but in the novel, he's an anti villian. He was framed to became a villian, and everything afterwards was doing evil things to avenge the death of his love but also to preserve her reputation.

LLTG worked without the actions because it took place during a time of peace and works as a court politics drama.…
Girl I forgot about that scene in LLTG. You are correct, the drama still managed to convey his credibility. And you know, the missed opportunity for one on one fight between SYQ and Xie Zhang outside the camp, I WAS so mad, I screamed. 🤣

She’s morally complex, but more in a non human way. She’s the king of spirits, feared by all, born an evil…

I guess it's really depends on the story...sometimes it doesn't work. I've seen way to many failed attempt.

What if the novel is FL centric, but the world-building positions the male character in a space where the visual storytelling is essential to make him believable? Then, I will complain too because it breaks down the world-building and complexity of the realtionship between the FL and ML. If he was just meant to be eye candy, then just say so...why waste pages and screentime on him (because male centric stories don't even pretend that women are eye candy and unapologetically writes thier female characters as support).

Can anyone explain Marquis Wu An role?1) is he more powerful the generals?2) which army does he control?
The drama gave him the Yuanzhou army but he actually only controls the Xie family Military, and the 100 Blood calvary (the most elite soldiers).

I just want to leave a reminder about dramas and its lack of consistency.ALOT of time, the production only have…
They don't film in order so this doesn't track. It's the writing and editing. A weak script will lead to weak editing. A weak director will lead to a terrible drama. Jade fortunately had a good director so it managed to get some things right.

I agree with you. I'm just saying the lack of action for Buyi worked better than for Xie Daren because of the time and place of the story. But yes, they were telling us and not showing us enough. What I did love about Buyi character is that we did get to see his revenge come to fruitation so in the end, we still leave the narrative with closure. I am doubtful we will get that with the Marquis.

Same. I kind of starting to feel it was going down the hill earlier. The village part way way too long, and massacre…
No we did not need her. She shows up in the novel in the third act and had like three scenes. Her contribution to the story is that she is Gong's "spy" in the palace. They could've still kept her character as is, and it wouldn't hurt the narrative.
