Fantasy must always have a set of rules which should be adhered to. That is why world building in fantasy is so important. You can’t just hand wave anything that happens by saying “oh it’s supposed to be a fantasy”. Fantasy without any inherent logic is meaningless and just bad writing.

This series is financed by the actors so their fans are extremely invested in wanting it to do well. Most of the ratings came in before the first episode even finished airing. This is hardcore fanbase review, not the general audience.

The Thai adaptation

This is funnier, Thai adaptation is more romantic. Depends on what you prefer. I like the Thai version more.

Can’t believe they cast this series in this way, took away Joe’s entire motivation for falling in love and messed up the inter character dynamics.

I think people here forget sometimes how much the general BL audience love fluffy stories and that Thai bl is still primarily produced for domestic audiences. The international audience is not intended to be the primary consumer. We Are is still one of the biggest BL hits domestically. Also, plenty of international viewers love it too, check out X and tumblr 🤷🏽‍♀️

Anyway, pondphuwin are a delight to watch and this is such a comfort show, as long as I fast forward through some scenes lol

I watched Not Me long ago and haven’t repeat watched, but I recall feeling that the romance between SeanWhite wasn’t properly established. It seemed that the characters fell in love just because it was a defined as a bl requirement, but it wasn’t convincing to me how the characters reacted to each other.

Plus the series ending was rushed and multiple characters were kinda OOC at the end.

Most ratings are from hard core YW fans who rated 10/10 to the entire series even before the first episode finished airing. Current rating is more reflective of fanbase strength than the actual quality of the show. Given that the actors are financing this series themselves, there is special urgency among the fans to ensure this series does well in terms of rating. That’s why you will see a lot of spamming on X just to ensure trends go up.

Not to say this show isn’t good, but the final rating will settle after the entire series has completely aired and the general audience has finished logging their scores, not just hardcore fans.

Inconsistent characterisation, plotholes, main thing is story doesn’t flow well.

This series definitely doesn’t have that problem, the script is so tight.

This series is better than Not Me. Not Me has a high rating because it has a serious subject matter, but the script is weak.

They will probably have a new series and it better have a strong script 🤞🏼 I would rather they take a break rather than do a subpar series, after coming off two such strong shows like Cherry Magic and PPOS.

The episode 11 breakup even if it’s not bl lol. This show is consistently maintaining its performance, best Thai show of the year no doubt at all.

We are is one of the most popular BL series of 2024, esp domestically but also internationally. It helped increase PPW’s hype.

I would prefer them to star in a more dramatic, plot heavy show next too, but I enjoyed We are, as did many others.

This show takes so many unexpected turns honestly lol. Aunt was introduced as a comic relief but turned out to be into literal black magic 😨

Really hope this series maintains its quality right up to the end 🤞🏼

We are was never the type of series to have an actual plot though. It just shows vignettes of the lives of a group of friends as they navigate university and love. It’s fluffy and feel good, I would say it did exactly what it intended to do, the definition of slice of life.

And PondPhuwin were so enjoyable to watch 🤷🏽‍♀️
