glad to hear that! because many c netizens are complaining about bai lu’s performance in this show, saying her lines were not executed well, and she should have used dubbing instead…. I’ve watched many of bai lu’s dramas, and it’s always those with dubbing that makes me go eh? sounds funny, sure you’ve got a professional doing the job but the voice doesn’t match the face! so I’m thankful to hear them both in this show (I believe the side characters are using their own voice too)

just finished episode 11, really liking the third case so far, but it is heartbreaking to watch… the performer/entertainer was enjoying herself, playing music with her friend, (finding joy in their lives through music). suddenly, the emperor comes by and she is brought into the palace, left with no freedom, as she cannot leave anymore, unlike her friend, who can stop performing after reaching a certain age. and during her time at the palace, she never gets noticed by the emperor again.

you bring her in, enjoy a one-night stand, and she’s trapped there forever. it’s so pathetic. the struggles women face was portrayed in a very realistic manner in this show, and it’s this element that made the show stick out to me. i cannot imagine life as a female in this dynasty.

genuinely don’t understand how Shen Jun Shan became like this in the second half of the show, he was smart, capable, and trusted Xie Xiang from the very start, believing in her judgment during the bomb scene when the male lead was doubting her. Shen Jun Shan was there whenever Xie Xiang needed help, then all of a sudden, he goes out of character and loses his judgment. Questions Xie Xiang’s theory and stood by the villain’s side, like seriously, where was the logical, capable and trustworthy SML from the first 20 episodes? It’s like the scriptwriters just had to create some kind of conflict, to make it logical for the female and male lead to be together…. Have you forgotten what your characters were like in the first half? Seriously this was very disappointing and unnecessary

that makes sense! can’t wait for moli to come, hope they get a good airing schedule this year, I heard it may be airing this June/July. if true, it’ll be great because it’s the summer holidays in China, and I am sure she has plenty of student fans. it’d be truly incredible if she can have a fifth show hitting *the equivalent of* 10k on iqiyi and Youku, this time on a 3rd streaming platform!

sorry but I haven’t seen the answer to your first question in the spoilers I have read … my guess is it’s probably his son that takes over, because ML was arranged to be raped to leave another “puppet” behind. i don’t see why the author has to include this rape if the son will not be of use to the plot in the future.

and yes, FL will stay in the palace till she dies of old age, and from what I understood online, she will become the empress, and watch their children grow. so the main characters will get their happy ending in reality but the side characters will have tragic endings

i was ready for lou chuo to be a pervert, imagine my surprise when suddenly he’s not … i really liked watching the girlies trying to save themselves in ep7, and I hate that so many people were getting in the way of the investigation, the fire made me really frustrated! excited to see how the second and third cases are linked, and i am really curious to find out why the second case was bai lu’s favourite from the show :)

pretty sure they filmed this show in winter last year, the scene of pei yi talking to the “crazy guy” in prison really reminded me of till the end of the moon, it was so cold they resembled human humidifiers 😭

highly recommend you to watch it now, give in to your temptations! this is a thriller drama, so it’d be entertaining to watch it while it airs and engage in discussions with the fans + viewers online, throwing out your wildest theories and reading about Easter eggs in the show. if you were watching a romance drama I would have recommended you to binge watch, but what’s fun about thrillers are all the plot twists, if you watch it pretty late, there may be no surprises for you anymore :)

i feel so sad to see the ratings dropping! it was around 8 when it just aired, and I think it deserves an 8 minimally. i agree with you, I am thinking perhaps the first case felt a bit choppy, and affected the watching experience… but it’s really sad because they apparently had to edit out bloody scenes to air on national tv, so it ended up feeling a bit off. the second case gets better and better. the costumes, sets and cinematography of episode 1 already made me go woah, this is high quality.

this show is literally a thriller, naturally romance is not going to be the main plot, and like what you said, the slow burn was executed really well. i don’t think we need accidental kisses and hugs in this show, the leads have chemistry, just them appearing together in one scene and I can begin my shipping ….

i don’t typically have the second lead syndrome but Shen Jun Shan is so charming in this show, so hot, so gentle with the female lead, and has incredible problem solving capability, when she faced a difficulty, he was so calmly reassuring her and solving the issue …. he’d been great to her right from the start .., while male lead was being annoying sksks

likely no, hi6 is typically filmed 3-4 weeks before the actual release date. for reference, bailu and wangxingyue filmed their episode January 12th, and it was released today, just in time for the airing of their show. since this show has a similar airing schedule, it would only make sense for them to have filmed the ep around the same time, but they were not seen filming it, so chances are, they will not be promoting on hi6. also, cheng lei’s studio has released his schedule for February and he will be filming the entire of this month, wangchuran has a similar schedule too. sadly this means we won’t get to see their interactions on hi6, but they’ve appeared on the same variety show before! wang chu ran was a guest on Run for Time 2025, the 31/5 episode and Cheng lei was one of the fixed emcees there

based on my experience with iqiyi, express package releases the night they pause the airing for a while before the last couple of eps. so in this case, if you check the schedule, it stops feb 18, so express is likely available that evening

agreed, I think the second case had a better pace + execution. i read online that they had to edit our certain scenes for this show to air on national tv, and we went from 40 -> 34 episodes, so details had to be removed unfortunately. apparently, some of the BTS clips featured scenes that were not in the actual show… it’s a real pity.

i have seen spoilers from the novel, no the SML is not a transmigrator, he is just incredibly smart. he does not have the god’s eye view that the other main characters have because they have read the book, but he is soooooooo smart that it feels like a 3v1, yet winning him is still tough.

the male lead will return to our world in 2016, 10 years before the female lead transmigrates over. the female lead will age in the novel and return to our world upon her death. the male lead will wait for years in our world for her to return, but they will be together. (take it as “our world” represents reality)

SFL is the original main lead of this book, and was arranged by the author to be a transmigrator. (so this was the character’s setting in the original book) we don’t know if SFL will return to city a after her death, just like the main leads
