I don't think that's a real thing. We've heard a lot of rumors about shows this past year and most of the time these things are all speculation or wishful thinking. I only believe what I see and what I can see is that they are filming. Wearing plastic bags.
It's incredibly wasteful of money and resources to "test" on site. Only a very irresponsible production would do something like this.
But it is what it is. If the final show is good I'll watch and if it's not I won't watch and it's literally such a non-issue for every other human on earth. Like whether I am happy or angry or sad or dissatisfied, it's really a personal journey for me and that adaptation.
Right now, I am disappointed with everything I can see. Later, it might be different but I do keep a mean grudge so I'll have to wait and see how things go.

That's what I thought! It makes no sense to waste time and money like this instead of testing the costumes in a studio like every other show ever.

Most of those were fake rumors. It was never going to come at the beginning of the year because it's a fantasy show with lots of CGI and that took time. April seemed like a confirmed thing but in retrospect it was too idealistic. I'd be pretty happy if the show happens this year but I won't be surprised if it won't be ready just yet.

Preferably before 6k...

It's manipulation! The money, the chatting, the gifts, the hope. This is some seriously organized thing. This person has clearly done this for a long time and he really has a system going on. And it's obvious why he can do it. Look at his delusional fans defending him and threatening that poor girl, look at the media coverage that vilify her in headlines and then write how her words were not lies in the text so people will read the headline and blame her instead. Look at the money and power at his disposal. There's a reason why celebrities have these kinds of scandals. It's because they have the means to fund it and then hide it too.
Initially, I heard a 30yo man was dating a barely 18ol and I thought it was gross, now more information has come out and it's even worse than I could imagine.

no... I've never seen a booting ceremony with "test" costumes. Booting ceremony is the beginning of filming. How can they be testing when they are apparently starting filming? If they think they're going to "test" these and then start filming tomorrow with"real" costumes then that's even more delusional because no respectful costume can be sewn in one day...

Think about it, at least we have nice costumes...

I agree. Some actors look really good with the ancient style, some don't. I really don't get the characters' vibe from any of the cast and it's not about their looks. They are very handsome, but they're just not the way I would want these characters to look. I hope their acting is better but based on their other works I am not impressed.

About the leaks...yeah sure they can try! 2ha had literal barbed wires installed over a wall and there was still leaks so unless they film inside and take every crew member's phone from them...there will be leaks and as for the testing costumes... this is the first time I see a cdrama test costumes on site. Other shows always have final costumes by the time, the paparazzi gets to them! There's also the terrible wigs and booting ceremony is when they start filming for real so I don't see how it could be a fake look still.
Sounds like they saw the back lash and tried to somehow retcon their way out of it.

What was wrong with the cut of xie lian's clothes? It looked like he was wearing a white plastic bag. The costume designer was supposed to be good!

I saw the booting ceremony photos and almost started crying...this is not going how I had hoped it would. And also, what was up with the costumes tbh? They looked like they used very cheap material.
